So for how long?

For you. My mate who is Philly hates the cowboys, thought it may be a rivallry?

Tbh the worst two for me woukd be Fisher or Sherman.

Both make me want to puke.

Two weeks is good.

Yeah. We can't be posting on MFC threads with those.

DONE!!!

1 Point only on offer this week but it's a vital point for the top 3 in the tipping comp ... the rest of us are playing for pride and a possible podium finish.

6 big game match-ups this week ... with a lot riding on a number of other games as well.  Dallas,  Detroit & Green Bay can all re-enter the playoff picture if all 3 win and a few other potential wild-card teams all lose.  Those 3 teams (Carolina,  Atlanta & Seattle) all face tough opposition.  It's probably the week of the season so far with so much at stake.

Avatar's are on the line in the biggie ... Rams vs Eagles,  Goff vs Wentz,  Gorgo vs Dappa.  Cowboys logo vs Sherman or Fisher's noggin.  Philadelphia have been installed as 2.5 point favourites but I reckon it's a 'pick-em' game.

Friday's game (Saints & Falcons) could be a barnburner.  Atlanta are going to have to be at their free scoring best to match New Orleans.

Meanwhile,  Rodgers is getting ready for week 15.  Surely the Packers couldn't possibly lose to Cleveland.  Surely not.  Lose to a team that is tanking?

Anyway,  all will be revealed by late Monday arvo (oz time)

Some huge games this week.

That's a vital win by the Falcons ... Saints walked away with a number of injury concerns as well.  I listened to the 2nd half and it was no surprise to see the outcome of the match decided by an interception.

The Atlanta win makes it doubly hard for Dallas,  Detroit & Green Bay now (in terms of wild-card spots)  The Falcons have beaten all 3 teams so hold the head-to-head advantage.

There's still a bit to play out though ... we might see a few teams end up on 10 wins in the NFC.

Huge play by Jones to haul in the interception... Not the norm seeing Brees throw a pick in that situation. I still don't rate us, Ryan was pathetic today. Saints lost up to 7 players during the game and they still should have won. Kamara was the biggest loss in the first quarter...

If we make it we'll just be making up the numbers, still a lot to play we need to win out @tampa @NO & Carolina to take the divison, 10 wins might not get you there either. Big few weeks ahead

Yeah,  now that I've seen that fabulous catch by Deoin Jones,  I'm not sure that it's all on Brees at all (the loss)  You should beat Tampa (although nothing is ever certain) and then it's the Panthers & Saints to finish.

If you can get to 10 wins that should be enough ... a win against the Panthers would ensure you'd hold the tie-break against most or all of your wild-card rivals.

But if you win out I believe you will win the division.

Bizarre but good game to watch. Saints unlucky with injury, Falcons did a great job inspite of Ryans decision making.

Can't wait for the rematch in two weeks!

Eagles @ Rams game is on 7mate from 8.30am Monday morning.  Vikings @ Carolina is the 5.00am game on 7mate.

Pity I cant get that channel, wouldn't be able to tape out anyway.

Just have to watch red zone and get what I get off that.

That's right,  you're out of metro.

So the free-to-air channels are different in the country yeah?

Redzone is great but there's nothing like watching a big game from go to whoa.

Think Seattle are going to thump Jacksonville tomorrow.

Wentz knee....

Rams will win. Eagles will be in real trouble now. Apparently doesn't look good.

Yeah Eagles camp saying ACL. They were making all those noises within 10 minutes of him going off.

He took one more play, record breaking Eagles TD to Jefferey... ridiculous play... unbelievably gutsy staying in the pocket that long. Insane throw. Then done...

What a horrible season for injuries.

That's rotten luck for Wentz & Eagles fans ... he would have had thoughts of leading Philadelphia in the SB this season.  It's just the worst type of injury too (if it is the ACL)

On his way to the MVP as well - I just hope he makes a full recovery.

After his 4th, the conversation was seriously about him and Brady as 1 and 2... with Wilson coming up quickly.

Given the fact they have the 1 seed again now, and only the Giants, Oakland and Dallas to come... This could be the worst thing to happen to the Eagles ever.

  • FEATURE: 1925

A hundred years ago today, on 2 May 1925, Melbourne kicked off the new season with a 47 point victory over St Kilda to take top place on the VFL ladder after the opening round of the new season.  Top place was a relatively unknown position for the team then known as the “Fuchsias.” They had finished last in 1923 and rose by only one place in the following year although the final home and away round heralded a promise of things to come when they surprised the eventual premiers Essendon. That victory set the stage for more improvement and it came rapidly. In this series, I will tell the story of how the 1925 season unfolded for the Melbourne Football Club and how it made the VFL finals for the first time in a decade on the way to the ultimate triumph a year later.

  • PREVIEW: West Coast

Saturday’s election night game in Perth between the West Coast Eagles and Melbourne represents 18th vs 15th which makes it a tough decision as to which party to favour. The Eagles have yet to break the ice under their new coach in Andrew McQualter who is the second understudy in a row to confront Demon Coach Simon Goodwin who was also winless until a fortnight ago. On that basis, many punters might be considering to go with the donkey vote but I’ve been assigned with the task of helping readers to come to a considered opinion on this matter of vital importance across the nation. It was almost a year ago that I wrote a preview here of the Demons’ away game against the Eagles (under the name William from Waalitj because it was Indigenous Round).  I issued a warning that it was a danger game, based on my local knowledge that the home team were no longer easybeats and that they possessed a wunderkind generational player in Harley Reid who was capable of producing stellar performances playing among men a decade and more older than he.  At the time, the Eagles already had two wins off the back of a couple of the young man’s masterclasses and they had recently given the Bombers a scare straight after their Anzac Day blockbuster draw against the then reigning premiers.

  • NON-MFC: Round 08

Round 08 of the 2025 AFL Season kicks off on Thursday with a must-win game for the Bombers to stay in touch with the top eight, while the struggling Roos seek a morale-boosting upset. Friday sees the Saints desperate for a win as well if they are to stay in finals contention and their opponents the Dockers will be eager to crack in to the Top 8 with a win on the road. Saturday kicks off with a pivotal clash for both sides asthe Bulldogs look to solidify their top-eight spot, while Port seeks to shake their pretender tag. Then the Crows will be looking to steady their topsy turvy season against a resurgent Blues looking to make it 4 wins on the trot. On Election Night a Blockbuster will see the ladder-leading Pies take on the Cats, who are keen to bounce back after a narrow loss. On Sunday the Sydney Derby promises fireworks as the Giants aim to cement their top-eight status, while the Swans fight to keep their season alive. The Hawks, celebrating their centenary, will be looking to easily account for the Tigers who are desperate to halt their slide. The Round concludes on Sunday Night with a top end of the table QClash with significant ladder implications; both Queensland teams are in scintillating form. Who are you tipping this week and what are the best results for the Demons?

  • PREGAME: West Coast

The Demons hit the road in Round 8, heading to Perth to face the West Coast Eagles at Optus Stadium. With momentum building, the Dees will be aiming for a third straight victory to keep their season revival on course. Who comes in and who goes out?

  • REPORT: Richmond

The fans who turned up to the MCG for Melbourne’s Anzac Day Eve clash against Richmond would have been disappointed if they turned up to see a great spectacle. As much as this was a night for the 71,635 in attendance to commemorate heroes of the nation’s past wars, it was also a time for the Melbourne Football Club to consolidate upon its first win after a horrific start to the 2025 season. On this basis, despite the fact that it was an uninspiring and dour struggle for most of its 100 minutes, the night will be one for the fans to remember. They certainly got value out of the pre match activity honouring those who fought for their country. The MCG and the lights of the city as backdrop was made for nights such as these and, in my view, we received a more inspirational ceremony of Anzac culture than others both here and elsewhere around the country.

  • CASEY: Richmond

The match up of teams competing in our great Aussie game at its second highest level is a rarity for a work day Thursday morning but the blustery conditions that met the players at a windswept Casey Fields was something far more commonplace. They turned the opening stanza between the Casey Demons and a somewhat depleted Richmond VFL into a mess of fumbling unforced errors, spilt marks and wasted opportunities for both sides but they did set up a significant win for the home team which is exactly what transpired on this Anzac Day round opener. Casey opened up strong against the breeze with the first goal to Aidan Johnson, the Tigers quickly responded and the game degenerated into a defensive slog and the teams were level when the first siren sounded.
