Dappa, how does the waivers work and how many do you get?

You get as many as you want. Feel free to drop and sign away. Waivers sounds more complicated than it is, but here goes. During every round, the players available are locked until a day after the round finishes. Up until the end of that period, anyone can apply for a waiver player. If you have the highest waiver priority, you get that player at the end of that period. You'll see on the ladder that you have a waiver priority number, usually it's reverse draft order... once you get a player you go back to last. Once all waivers have been processed, available players become free agents, and you can sign them without affecting your waiver.

I [censored] hate the NFL app!! One I just want to see a breakdown of score by score and secondly I want to see individual passing yards, rushing yards etc... It's so [censored]

And KC lose a game they could have won ... the impact of 1 loss in a 16 game season can be quite profound (especially when it comes to losing at home in a divisional game)

Everything can be a risk ... even running the ball in the last 30 odd seconds when a team is nowhere near it's end zone in a tied game. Kneeling down was not such a no-brainer but would a team not kneel down if the same circumstances were in a Super Bowl?

Reid has always had the odd issue with time management ... however, he brings a lot of positives too - which includes his teams participating in the playoffs on an almost constant basis.

All the same, that KC loss could be costly.

I thought the Seahawks were playing very well and a big chance but that early 4th quarter drive led by Rodgers turned the game on it's head ... quelling Lynch was key although Wilson made a lot of good yards with his legs.

Starks the RB was the difference though ... once Lacy was injured he had to step up and he duly did so - 20 carries for 95 yards. It's just nice to beat a team like Seattle though - they'll still be very hard to beat anytime (especially at home)

The big news though is the broken collarbone to Romo (twice in the same spot now?) ... Dallas have a tough schedule and they'll really miss him - it could be 8+ weeks. However, can Dallas' rivals take advantage?

Some big wins (Steelers, Arizona) but equally, some big losses (Saints, Ravens & Miami) The Vikings get on the board but unless the Lions get a win shortly, their season could be over very quickly - next 3 .. vs Denver, @ Seattle & vs Arizona.

Atlanta had an important win helped by more clock mismanagement by the Giants ... Rams were disappointing by the looks of it but so were the niners.

And true to form, no one picked 3 road winners in the comp - a few went 0 for 3 - yikes!

No sane tipster could have picked 3 road winners this week! Not prepared to call Dan Quinn the messiah yet but he seems like he has turned the Falcons around, albeit we've been on lucks side in the first 2 games but as I've learnt in my short NFL following that luck plays a big part in this game. On the road again next week against a Romo & Bryant less Cowboys... It's amazing to think after 2 weeks some sides seasons are on the line already, but once again guess that's the nature of this game!

Dallas, Denver, Arizona, Atlanta & New England all won on the road ... isn't hindsight a wonderful thing JV7 :) Granted, picking Tampa was never a logical option.

But you're right, luck does play a big part and if a team gets lucky, that can build confidence. Just like losing, winning becomes a habit.

The Falcons now have a quite winnable game @ the Cowboys next week whereas 2 weeks ago, the same game could have been marked down as a probable loss.

Add to that the Saints poor start but the Panthers are still the team to watch out for - when Newton is on, they're hard to beat.

Mother of god.... I've never seen worse offense by an Eagles team. I think this will be a 4-12 year now.

Did anyone get the two Macca?

Vikes get up. I didn't see that coming. AP is back and running well so here is to hoping for a wildcard spot. I think Dallas will be OK with Weeden as their backup. Philly are in strife. Where is the offense? Murray couldn't get a running yard with that O Line. Miami didn't feel like winning. I'm more impressed with the Bills then I am with the Pats. Bills gave up a lot of yards and still hung in there. Atlanta has a awesome game plan to win their division. Throw it to Julio Jones. That bloke is a on fire and if Dan Quinn can work some magic on defense then the NFC south title is in their hands.

I think you guys played them at home last year and it was a different game to today. Sherman wasn't targeted that day but today he gave up penalties and a healthy Rodgers is too hard to stop when the run game is on as well. Chicago got spanked and Cutler got hurt after his trademark pick 6. Dunno about Detroit. Chicago have fallen away and the Vikes are young. Detroit have the defense, the QB and the star receiver. It just hasn't clicked yet and the NFC north hasn't had a legitimate challenger since Chicago were in superbowls.

Philly are downright awful. Now though the story will be which of Giants and Skins want Dallas' spot. Eagles will be lucky to win 8. They're gone. No way they come back, not even if they improve. They would have to go from that to 35 point games.

It's the American equivalent of liking Collingwood but I was very high on the Cowboys this year. For some reason I've gone from loathing Jerry Jones, Garrett and Romo to respecting the way they back each other. Will always be a fan of Marinelli's defense. So now I'm a bit sad that their season might be in big trouble.

I wouldn't give up on the Eagles yet. Bradford's missed so much time it's going to take him a while to get to whatever his best might be (even if that's rubbish). The one thing I haven't liked with the Eagles is the way Chip has weakened what was a great O Line 2 years ago. I get him letting skill position players go and changing up the defense but if you have a great O Line and play hurry up running offense then why would you wreck that by not paying guys?

Good to see the Bucs, Browns and Raiders (costing me the tip) bounce back with wins. 3 young QB's with interesting futures.

As for the Bears. Well, it's a dumpster fire. I hope they keep pouring petrol on and ride out a lowly season to the number 1 pick. Tanking baby! It might work in the NFL if you're LUCK-y.

The defense just can't make a play. No sacks. Dreadful secondary. Confused LB's. They aren't as bad as last year yet but they aren't much better and things probably won't improve for the rest of the year unless the D line which actually has some level of talent can make some plays.

Cutler is spending most of the time being highly efficient and capable before throwing the costly pick. No bears fan will be disappointed if he's out, even if he gets unfairly blamed for every thing he just makes the killer mistakes all too consistently.

I'm a bit with you when it comes to the cowboys. They tend to get pumped up every year due to being the cowboys but they have exceeded expectations. Even Romo who has copped it his whole career has improved after being given a huge contract that a lot of media folk slammed him and mr jones for. Philly have a problem. I think it's BS but the chatter about Chip Kelly and the issues he has had with black players is making a lot of journalists froth at the mouth for his demise. Not only that but the skill players he did let go were all very good players. I enjoy watching Eagles games as their fast pace offense is good to watch when it works. Edited by cowboy_from_hell

Giants look like they won't get close to 8 wins and the skins will unearth a new disaster to come their way. Can Weeden and no Dez guide Dallas to the playoffs? I still think Philly are the only team who could challenge them.

RETURN TO NORMAL by Whispering Jack

One of my prized possessions is a framed, autographed guernsey bearing the number 31 worn by my childhood hero, Melbourne’s champion six time premiership player Ronald Dale Barassi who passed away on 16 September 2023, aged 87. The former captain who went on to a successful coaching career, mainly with other clubs, came back to the fold in his later years as a staunch Demon supporter who often sat across the way from me in the Northern Stand of the MCG cheering on the team. Barassi died the
