I'll be in the States on the weekend of October 25. If the Chiefs are in Oakland or San Diego that weekend I'll be looking to grab a ticket.

You'd think one of them would have to be playing that weekend... I got my tickets from stubhub, works fine. Althoug I booked waaaay to early last year, basically as soon as the fixture came out. Paid $250 aud for 49ers & Redskins then a few weeks out from the game tickets were only $100 or less. If a sides having an average year as the 49ers were fans just jump off and start selling there tickets

Also Ive written is previously but getting to Levis stadium is a pain in the ass... Seriously was easier and just as long for me to fly to Atlanta from NYC for the day than it was getting from San Fran to Levis stadium

Cheers. I haven't been to an NFL game since 2000 at Candlestick and a friend who lived there got me tickets. I'd probably be staying in San Jose anyway if the planets aligned and the Sharks were playing at home around that date, so that's pretty close to Levi's. I've been to San Fran a couple of times and would purely be driving up there to watch sport. Anyway, it's a low probability of occurring.

Sorry! I was referring to the hockey team! I've been given a leave pass by the wife to get my my fix of as much NFL, NBA, NHL and Disneyland as I can cram into a fortnight. Best birthday present ever.

KC vs Pittsburgh on October 25. There goes that idea. Niners play at home the night before I fly in.

I should give a belated heads up about one of my favourite TV programs - America's Game - which is on once a week on Saturday mornings at 6. They're going in sequential order and are already up to the 1976 Raiders this week. I find the old ones the best. The players interviewed are older and wiser and have had years to reflect on what their triumphs and teams have meant in the grand scheme of their lives. Great viewing.

1. TB - Winston (QB)

2. Tenn. Trade to the Eagles for pick 19 (acquired from Cleveland for Bradford), pick 20, Eagles 1st Rd 2016. Eagles pick Mariota (QB)

3. Jack - Dante Fowler (DE)

4. Oak - Leonard Williams (DT)

5. Wash - Vic Beasley (OLB)

6. Jets - Amari Cooper (WR)

7. Chic - Trae Waynes (CB)

8. Atl - Bud Dupree (OLB)

9. Giants - Brandon Scherff (OG)

10 St L - Kevin White (WR)

Very happy that the vikes drafted trae Waynes. We needed another CB to compete with the NFC North offenses. No real surprises but i did think Tennessee would trade out of the 2 pick. Maybe it's tebow time in Philly!

I was surprised we went a RB over a WR or a OL

Stacy didn't seem happy with his tweet of "yikes"

I thought with Mason, Watts, Stacy we were decent at the RB position. But reading how good they think this kid could be if his knee rehabs well does get me a little excited.

Always a great sign when the analysts are aghast at your team's selection. The guy we picked, Peters, was kicked off his college team and is apparently Snoop Dogg's nephew. Tremendous.

Best corner in the draft. But it worries me when a player gets kicked off a college team. Especially such a good player who knows he has a lot at stake. And he had an experienced quality coach.

Boom or bust I guess

Tom Brady pick 199. They stuff up the draft just like we do. There is a great doco on brady that's been around for a while on brady and his drafting I think it's still on you tube.

Maybe the Rams are trying to establish a powerful running game with that awesome defense. They have more stability at QB but probably not a lot of confidence in the throwing game right now. If it were any other division if think the Rams are playoff bound.

I get what you're saying 'cfh' but I actually believe and have nearly always believed that those picking these draftees are doing the best they can, all things considered. They are making decisions that may or may not work out - all the expertise in the world still doesn't guarantee anything. The real skill in drafting is being able to pick the diamonds in the rough ... even so, Brady at pick 199 still doesn't make a whole lot of sense.

All drafts have numerous players that end up being overrated and underrated. It's the same story every year in all the drafts. Our draft (the AFL's) is the most confusing of all (mainly because of the age of the draftees) In the NFL, most of these draftees are 22-23 years old and there are still numerous busts.

Having said all that, I still accept the drafting process to a large degree and the results and picks that come out of these drafts are all quite fascinating. My expectations are always tempered though - 2 of the big questions out of this draft will be Winston & Mariota. Can both be great or could both be busts? Or any other result in between?

As for GB's picks so far ... I've read up about Randall & Rollins but to make a prediction on how they're going to turn out would be a guess. Randall is a safety & Rollins is a CB but are either or both going to be productive players? Who knows?

Well we still have average WR'ers so running game and short passes will be out go this year, especially with Foles at QB.

I hope the G man can get over his knee well and be the player to match the talent he has.

A power running game and strong defence can get you to the playoffs. Hell we got their with Christian ponder as our QB.

Yep, agree CFH.

And with Seattle being one of our div a strong throwing team hits a sublime secondary.

TBH a strong run game vs our div rivals would be a good thing.

Brady cops four weeks, Pats $1mil and lose first pick next year and fourth round the year after.

He and Gisele might decide to have a nice little holiday in the Bahamas for a month.

The Pats won't miss the draft picks going by how they normally go about their drafting (picking up good players late in the draft is their specialty isn't it :))

As for the million dollar fine - chump change.

They got their Super Bowl - that's all that counts, Gorgo

Losing Brady for 4 weeks won't be much of a problem. He will be well rested and their back up looks like he can play. Last year Kansas City flogged the pats and I thought their dominating run as a team was over. They get going in the last half of the year. It won't bother the pats being labelled cheaters they should be used to it by now. The first round pick could hurt them. They do draft well but any loss of a first round pick has gotta hurt. Can the yanks stop naming their scandals? Yeah I get the pun by adding gate on the end of everything but it's not that clever anymore.

Dante Fowler already gone for the 2015 season with an ACL. Had not signed his rookie contract when it happened but the Jags showed faith and signed him to the max, which is around $23 million over 4 years fully guaranteed.

It's Game Day and the Demons have a chance to notch up their third consecutive win — something they haven’t done since Round 5, 2024. But to do it, they’ll need to exorcise the Demons of last year’s disastrous trip out West. Can the Dees continue their momentum, right the wrongs of that fateful clash, and take another step up the ladder on the road to redemption?

  • FEATURE: 1925

A hundred years ago today, on 2 May 1925, Melbourne kicked off the new season with a 47 point victory over St Kilda to take top place on the VFL ladder after the opening round of the new season.  Top place was a relatively unknown position for the team then known as the “Fuchsias.” They had finished last in 1923 and rose by only one place in the following year although the final home and away round heralded a promise of things to come when they surprised the eventual premiers Essendon. That victory set the stage for more improvement and it came rapidly. In this series, I will tell the story of how the 1925 season unfolded for the Melbourne Football Club and how it made the VFL finals for the first time in a decade on the way to the ultimate triumph a year later.
