Nathan Jones

Jones has passion and love for our club and our team and his first paragraph sums it all up. Hope he can keep improving and win a flag with us. I recon he would be one of the happiest.

We need to cherish all our players who would die for this club, period. Noone else wants a piece of us!

Do any of you speculators have any evidence that:

(a) Nathan Jones considered not signing a new contract with Melbourne

(B) Melbourne considered not offering him a contract

© Melbourne put Nathan Jones "up for trade"

Didn't think so.

I don't understand where you're coming from, and where you are going with that.

It seemed to be "given" on here and anywhere else potential trades where discussed that Melbourne was considering what to do with Nathan Jones and that the player himself was contemplating his future with the club.

Then the media reports that Jones has signed a new contract with Melbourne and put an end to the speculation about his future (which the media "made up" in the first place).

The actual time line reads like this: Season finishes ... contract ends ... player signs new contract.

Too many people accept what they are spoon fed when it was just filling column inches and air time when there wasn't much exciting to talk about.

Season finishes... OOC player discussed until re-signs/other. Seems natural to me... Who's being spoon fed? I still don't follow

I agree.

It reminds of the blownup kefuffle in Cuba in the early 60s.

The actual time line reads like this: Cuba had nukes. US saw the nukes. Cuba got rid of nukes not two weeks later.

End of story.

Bad analogy rpfc, glad you are not an historian B)

I'm just saying, if you are unwilling to read beween the lines (or in some cases - the lines themselves) you won't get a true account.

Still waiting on the "evidence" that Nathan Jones or anyone at Melbourne who has any say in these decisions thought anything would happen other than Jones signing a new contract.

During the Cuban Missile Crisis there were quotes attributed to people who could potentially push some kind of button that would effectively destroy some part of the US or USSR that led people to believe this was actually possible.

And what evidence do you want?

Do you not watch the games? Can you not see that Nath (as big a heart as he has) had some issues this year, as he has had at times? Do you not think when he was dropped after playing every game he wasn't thinking WTF?

His first mention of 'taking time to sign' in his blog is an indicator. Don't think this was in regard to his next dog purchase.

I love his passion but I have my doubts on his ability. Hope I am very wrong.

That question is an oxymoron.

If they are speculators, by their very nature they have no evidence.

Oops.

huh? That reads like the opposite of what you said before

Fairly testing 2 weeks though

this is a good thread.

  • CASEY: Richmond

The winds finally returned to Casey Fields for the Demons’ third home game of the VFL season, and its impact was immediate. After two opening rounds played in uncharacteristically fine conditions, the Anzac Day clash brought back the familiar gusty conditions that have been a feature of the region at this time of the year.
Forced to kick into the breeze first, the slow-starting Demons faced a tricky opening against an enthusiastic young Tigers outfit. Casey responded by turning the contest into a scramble, pressuring Richmond into errors and missed targets. The tactic proved crucial, keeping the game tight for three and a half quarters before the Demons pulled away with the autumn wind at their backs.

It seemed as if the whole purpose of the Anzac Eve clash at the MCG between the Demons and the Tigers was building toward that single, unforgettable moment when Kozzie Pickett soared above Campbell Gray and all but fittingly etched his name onto the face of the 2026 Frank ‘Checker’ Hughes Medal.
