what he did was very guttsy. Unfortuantly i was told by a board members son yesterday that we are offering him up for trade. hope its not true, but could get a good pick for him or chuck in one of our picks and get a forward

Agree, as usual he was courageous. I hope he is not being offered for trade. Lastly, if you did in fact hear that from a Board member's son, then it is disappointing the Board member blabs, also that his son does as well and that you being told, put it on a forum in that form.

the day jonesy gets offered for trade, is the day i turn on the board members (except jimmy)

Would be very surprised if he was offered, unless we were extremely aggressive and rolling the dice in trade week. He improved this year I thought, in terms of his kicking which was his weakness. He still gets caught too much but I can't help but think he is the type to 'find a way'. Some of his foot passing this year, and long goals had me re-thinking his skill level and his ability to compete in general play is still improving. plus his tagging roles are adding another dimension.

To me you can see he is still a rough diamond but at 22 and almost 100 games, who knows what he will be at 150 or 200 games !!

plus he gives 100 percent each week and I can't say that for all of our list at present.

Why would you turn on the board but exclude Jimmy? Nobody is more responsible for the board's actions than the chairman. And this isn't a board call anyway, it's a football department call. The board should play no part in this decision whatsoever.

I saw every game this year, and after the first couple of games , I can't remember him being free-kicked for 'holding the ball' once. Not once. That must be last year you're thinking of, and frankly his kicking to a target over a distance is absolutely the BEST at the club. There seem to be a lot of posters who have a problem crediting true improvement, and I don't get it.

As far as offering players for trade I'd say all inquiries about any players would be invited as opposed to us putting single players out there

What I like best about Jones is that I reckon he improved 20% in 2009 on 2008, and then improved another 20% in 2010 on 2009. He still hasn't reached his plateau IMO, and is definitely capable of improving another 20% next year & then the year after. He's not "untouchable", but it would have to be an extremely good offer indeed.

Yeah, I thought that when I read it, too. He might only be "up for trade" in the sense that he's one of a dozen or so players who will be mooted in discussions with other clips during trade week to see what we can get for him. If so, it doesn't mean the club sees him as being mere trade bait and dont want him. I would imagine just about every conceivable deal gets talked about in trade week, if it didnt, they wouldnt be doing their job.

Damien Barratt, the second-rate journalist he is, must have been reading demonland and bigfooty again, by the looks of things tonight.

2024 Player Reviews: #36 Kysaiah Pickett

The Demons’ aggressive small forward who kicks goals and defends the Demons’ ball in the forward arc. When he’s on song, he’s unstoppable but he did blot his copybook with a three week suspension in the final round. 2024 Player Reviews: #1 Steven May

The years are rolling by but May continued to be rock solid in a key defensive position despite some injury concerns. It was another strong season from McVee who spent most of his time mainly at half back but he also looked at home on a few occasions when he was moved into the midfield.
