Changes for next week

Featured Replies

Any source for that? And any sort of ETA?

Out: Jetta, Rivers, Mckenzie, Miller

In: Bennell, Cheney, McDonald, Sylvia

The source is me.. He limped off the training track on sat morning shaking his head.

This week's injury report probably puts some dents in most, if not all, of the suggested changes here.

Junior is another 2-3 away, Gysberts isn't fit, and the report gave me no confidence whatsoever in Sylvia being right to return.

Coming off that shocking performance it's natural to suggest there would be 2-3 changes, but who at Casey has earned a promotion???

based on that common sense approach, no change then ?

Enlighten me why Jetta should stay?? PPoor today

OUT Jetta, Miller, Watts,

IN Sylvia, McDonald, Gysberts(all if available)

If Riewoldt plays, Warnock stays in, otherwise drop him for Cheney

"CAPTAIN James McDonald will miss Sunday’s clash against St Kilda at Etihad Stadium, as he continues to battle a hamstring injury.

Emerging ball-winner Jordan Gysberts, who claimed 26 and 25 disposals in his first two matches in rounds 10 and 11, will miss a couple of weeks with a back injury."

OUT Jetta, Miller

IN Sylvia Spencer

I'd like to see Bennell back in the side.

He was a spark plug during our excellent April and has the tools to be a gun player. Maybe a direct swap with Jetta.

Now that it seems Junior and Sylvia (probably) won't return my guess would be:

IN - Cheney, Bennell

OUT - McKenzie, Jetta or Miller

Jetta and Miller were completely ineffective last week and one of the two will pay the price.

Speaking of early season spark plugs, I'd like to see Rohan Bail play the last 6 or 7 games of the year to see if he has a future. He was a solid contributor in our early season wins. He has much needed pace and run which suits our coast to coast style of footy.

We need to add to our midfield no take players out of it, if we play Rivers, Warnock, Frawley, MacDonald, Garland down back we will get hurt against the Saints. Gice MacDonald the job on Goddard, Rivers to Kosi, Garland gets Stanley, Bartram gets Milne, Cheney to Buchanan, Frawley to the other forward.

Move Grimes into the midfield so my team has change slightly

Bartram Rivers Garland

Cheney Frawley MacDonald

Scully Grimes Trengove

Sylvia Bate Dunn

Davey Watts Green

Jamar Moloney Jones

MacKenzie Spencer Bruce Morton

In Sylvia Cheney Spencer

Out Warnock Miller Jetta

Ideal game for the red headed defender the Saints don't have a lot of speed.

You mean Schneider.

Don't think Rivers has the strength to go one on one with Kozi. And I don't think Garland has the height for Stanley.

Warnock to Stanley, Frawley to Koschitzke. Rivers out.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Essendon

It’s Pink Lady night at Princes Park — a vibey Friday evening setting for a high-stakes clash between second-placed Melbourne and eleventh-placed Essendon. The wind-sheltered IKON Park, a favourite ground of the Demon players, promises flair, fire and a touch of pink. Melbourne has never lost a home-and-away game here, though the ghosts of two straight-sets finals exits in 2023 still linger.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: # 1 Steven May

The premiership defender has shown signs of wear and tear due to age, and his 2025 season was inconsistent, ending poorly with a suspension and a noticeable decline in performance. The Demons are eager to integrate younger players onto their list and have indicated that they may not be able to guarantee him senior games next season, in what would be the final year of his contract.

The young key tall failed to make progress during the season, with a decline in his goal kicking output. His secondary role as a backup ruckman, which may have hindered his ability to further develop his game, and he was also impacted by the team's poor forward connection. It will be interesting to observe his performance under a new coaching regime.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #3 Christian Salem

Salem proved to be a valuable contributor as a reliable and solid one-on-one medium-sized defender in what was undoubtedly his most impressive season since the premiership year. He remains a highly capable rebounding option for the Demons as he approaches his 200th game at the club.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #4 Judd McVee

Following an injury-interrupted start to the season, McVee struggled to maintain the standard he established in 2025 as he pursued an expanded role within the team structure. He remained a firm fan favourite and the club had hoped to negotiate a new contract with the former rookie selection from Western Australia, whose partner, Lily Johnson, plays for Melbourne's AFLW side. Those hopes were dashed when he expressed his desire to return to his home state and play for Fremantle. Like all players who have worn the red and blue and are leaving this year, we wish him well in the future.
