Confirmation they were disappointed, when they traded for Jolly.

Big "No" from me.

And Cameron Wood......

Two first round picks consumed to resolve a problem caused by a an ordinary No 1 pick.

Josh Fraser is too soft, never been a fan.

The only instance he should come across is through the PSD, and ONLY if he is the best available player at our pick. If Collingwood do get rid of him, I have a feeling he will be Gold Coast bound anyway. As far as I know, GC17 do not have any ruckmen that are ready to step straight into AFL so Fraser could fill the gap for 1-2 years.

Firstly no AFL player is "soft". Its a term used by posters who have nothing smarter to say about a player.

And if you think he is "soft" and he not a good ruck or forward option, then why would you bother wasting a PSD. If thats the best in the PSD, I would take a younger player who might actually make an impact in AFL rather than someone who struggles at the level.

Why wouldn't we develop from the list we have than pay for a proven NQR who is not part of the Pies plans and should not be part of ours?

And you wanted peoples thoughts.....and they are pretty clear cut....relax hey? B)

So you are saying Fraser is worse than Johnson/Meesen/Spencer and "should not be part of our plans"??

The OP makes a good point and I would take Fraser in a heart beat over any of the above mentioned deadwood.

Whats RR plan? keep Sylvia in the ruck and wait for stephanie martin to become an AFL player?

We have our future ruck prospects in Gawn and Fitzy, but we need someone now to you know... help out the Russian and win games.

*BUMP*

Oh dear.

Still want him??

What an ineffectual puss is Fraser! Firstly in Round 2 it was Newton, today it was Miller.Nullified by pinch hitting mid sized players. The forner No 1 pick has his 200th game in 2 weeks. Do you think Malthouse believes in charity? I wouldn't.

I say we should get him. After all we need somebody to make Newton look good.

Fraser is currently working from a Bus stop near you. Waiting, waiting, oh here's my ride now. Come on Dees?

we already have a josh fraser...but his name is meesen...both had the potential but amounted to nothing.

That's very harsh on Meesen.

Pretty sure he's out of contract after this year, and he doesn't seem to be in favour at Collingwood. I reckon he'd be a good 2nd ruck to Jamar and could float into the forward line and kick a few. Thoughts?

No thanks - he couldnt float into the demon forward line when Jamar did and stop Jamar kicking a goal yesterday. Not a forward and not a ruck.

Please tell me this post is a joke!!

You only have to look at his game yesterday o get an idea as to why we don't want him. He often plays unaccountable football, and even in te forward line he does little. For what it's worth I'd much rather persist with Spencer. Fraser would want to take a large pay cheque and for me he really wouldn't be worth it. As some have suggested depending on the quality of the PSD he might be worth a LOOK at, but even then I wouldn't be keen.

The only reason I would look at him is so people would know why I was shaking my head.

No it isn't. Meesen's injuries barely hide his ordinary output. Fraser does not have the injuries.

Sometimes- you should read your own terms and conditions- one should knock players- and in particular injury prone.Meeson did extremely well when fit last year.He looked as if he could become No.1 ruckman.

About as close as Grimes being undisciplined.

The best that can be said about Meesen was that when he played AFL he was not as bad as everyone expected. He was still ordinary. The only place he could become a No 1 ruckman was the VFL. And after seeing him play there a number of times, I could not work out when the planets would line up for that to happen. He is probably a nice bloke but as a footballer, I dont rate him at all on what I saw when he was fit. Injuries dont hide a "punt" by MFC that went sour. Underperformer.

This is true to a certain extent. I thought at times Meesen worked well, particularly moving around the ground. It's a shame though that he has had constant injury woes. Personally I don't think he played seniors enough though to make a call on him becoming the number one ruckman. Unfourtunatley I don't think we shall see him again in the senior side, particularly after Jamars emergence this year. It shall be interesting to see what happens to Tower, Meesen and Spencer end of year.

There has been a lot of talk that Melbourne is interested in getting another ruckman in this yea trade period and they would really like to get Shaun Hampson.

They are going to get rid of Paul Johnson and John Messon at the end of the year and really want a good ruckman/forward to help Jamar.

22 Shaun Hampson

The athletic ruckman forced his way into the side in round seven and missed only two games because of injury from then on. Needs to improve his marking and disposal, but showed promising signs with his ruckwork and consistency. A convert from soccer, he has had only five full seasons of football. Has a great leap, covers the ground well and is exceptionally quick for his height.

2024 Player Reviews: #36 Kysaiah Pickett

The Demons’ aggressive small forward who kicks goals and defends the Demons’ ball in the forward arc. When he’s on song, he’s unstoppable but he did blot his copybook with a three week suspension in the final round. It was another strong season from McVee who spent most of his time mainly at half back but he also looked at home on a few occasions when he was moved into the midfield.
