Brock McLean has left the building

Featured Replies

why would the dees swap our 3rd round pick for their 3rd round in the deal? shouldnt they give us pick 11 and their 3rd round pick for say our 4th round pick and brock? he was pick 5 in his year!

Makes no difference where Brock was picked. Farren Ray was picked one before him at no.4 in the same year, but the Bulldogs traded him(& pick 48) last year, for pick 31.

Pick 11 is a fair result for us if this isn't BS.

Its is now official - press release direct from melbourne - just read out on sen for pick 11 from carlton.

Holy hell

Here we are people:

The Melbourne Football Club wishes to advise that player Brock McLean has requested a trade and will be leaving the Club.

McLean met with Club officials on Monday morning to confirm his decision.

Melbourne has reached an in principle agreement with the Carlton Football Club for their first choice (selection 11 overall) in this year’s National Draft. This agreement is subject to the finalisation of paperwork during Trade Week, commencing Monday 5 October 2009, and the completion of medical screenings.

Now we just have to pray the game has gone past him and it wasnt just his injury that caused him to be useless this year....

wow...there you go

It seems that it came from Brock which is very dissapointing...I can't sat "I told you so" because I was as unsure about this rumour as everybody else, however, I think the other bloke deserves an apology

sorry ignore that.. just saw it on the dees site... wow

Is Healy an official source now? I thought he was a Journo.

But seriously, I really hope it's not true. I think Brock still has a lot to offer to the club and will be better for an injury-free preseason.

Yep also heard this. It will be interesting to hear the full story behind it.

They said for pick 11. to go to Carlton

Like to know if its true.

bit of a shock

Hardly the end of the world, though it's frustrating that players we wish to keep want to leave.

Does this strengthen our position in getting Burgoyne?

I have heard McLean to Carlton for pick 11...

Any truth behind this? Am I the only person to have heard this...

PS (heard from a family member who got it from a non credible source as far as i know)

I suppose it would make sense with family connections to the club but do we give him his 10 grand back?

well done mate.

I wonder who the club has it's eye on for pick 11? Bold move, time will tell...

I'm sure they've done their due diligence on this...

I would have to say that you may be correct - strengthen our position in getting Burgoyne.

Holy shitter Batman!

Oh well! Would have liked to seen him stay but it is of his own request to be traded. Pick 11 should bring a quality key forward.

I'm actually fine with this.

Never been a fan of Brock. It's interesting that people thought he was in real captaincy contention and he has chosen to leave the club.

Holy [censored]

Wonder how much they've offered him.

Tell me Sylvia is close to signing.

i am beyond words here

i dont know if im angry at brock, or the club for pushing him to this decision, or to the scumbags at cfc throwing $$$ around again

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

god i hope these guys know what they are doing, premiership or its all over MFC

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.

  • REPORT: North Melbourne

I suppose that I should apologise for the title of this piece, but the temptation to go with it was far too great. The memory of how North Melbourne tore Melbourne apart at the seams earlier in the season and the way in which it set the scene for the club’s demise so early in the piece has been weighing heavily upon all of us. This game was a must-win from the club’s perspective, and the team’s response was overwhelming. The 36 point win over Alastair Clarkson’s Kangaroos at the MCG on Sunday was indeed — roovenge of the highest order!

  • CASEY: Werribee

The Casey Demons remain in contention for a VFL finals berth following a comprehensive 76-point victory over the Werribee Tigers at Whitten Oval last night. The caveat to the performance is that the once mighty Tigers have been raided of many key players and are now a shadow of the premiership-winning team from last season. The team suffered a blow before the game when veteran Tom McDonald was withdrawn for senior duty to cover for Steven May who is ill.  However, after conceding the first goal of the game, Casey was dominant from ten minutes in until the very end and despite some early errors and inaccuracy, they managed to warm to the task of dismantling the Tigers with precision, particularly after half time when the nominally home side provided them with minimal resistance.
