I'm staggered that Will Minson is so useless that he can't even do that, then again, I've watched Paul Johnson play for 4 years, so I'm not really <_<

I really shouldn't laugh but I'm going to because I can't help myself. I don't think I will ever cease being amazed at some of the big guys who get games because of their size and not there ability.

But on topic: Once again the Dogs kicked themselves out of a final. They should have been 4 goals up a Q time and that probably would have seen them home, and they had their chances against Geelong and did the same thing.

Anyone who thinks we're going to play finals next year and are on the way need to see a recording of this game. We're not in cooee of either of these sides. And they're not even at their best.

Interesting point because as a game it had few individual highlights. There was Gia's goal, and Johnson's mark and goal, but otherwise there was mainly Reiwoldt and some terrific stuff from Hayes and Dal Santo yet overall little breath taking brilliance.

This game was defined by intensity and pressure, and I had the same feeling having seen the SAINTS and the PIES two weeks ago - we are so far behind this group in terms of pressure football it ain't funny.

But in talent pool, hmmmm...could be interesting in a 2011-12

I have no sympathy for the Dogs. They have defiantly avoided picking up a decent key forward for years, failing to do so via trade or the draft. Nick Riewoldt is an absolute superstar and the performance of he, Dal Santo and Hayes speaks volumes about the importance of having elite players in your side. Well done to the Saints and well deserved. We'll get the great Grand Final we should all be hoping for now.

I watched this game bar a small part of 3rd quarter where I crashed out on the couch but for the main I saw the doggies play very well in the first half.

The difference for them was that tall forward who can take a mark.

At the other end, although at the time being beaten by Cross who was in front all the time, Riewoldt was a target.

They also had Kosi for the other target but alas the dogs were getting to the ball first and were running hard and I was a little nervous that my chosen team for the finals was about to bow out.

They started poorly against us too so I knew all they needed to do was keep playing their game and eventually they would wear the dogs down which they did courtesy of some great midfield work from Hayes and Dal Santo.

The dogs need to recruit a tall forward. They are in a spot where they need to trade for one or pick one up in PSD as their premiership window is still ajar. They then need to pick one up in the draft itself to groom for when Hall or Lloyd or whoever they pick is finished for good. I dont believe you can win a flag without one good big forward. Perhaps history will show WCE did it - I cant remember but they would be the only one in recent history.I am open to correction here!

Sydney -Hall

Geelong- Mooney

Hawthorn - Franklin & Roughead.

are 3 that I can recall.

So Doggies, you can be proud of your efforts this season but now the ball is in your court- get yourselves a tall foward and gear up for a big 2010.

Good luck Sainters - I am behind u for your second flag.

Lenny Hayes won that game for St.Kilda last night. In a tight game he continually found space to Run. Brilliant Game.

Without Him the Big Roo German would not have got the Ball.

Well done lenny Hayes.

To the Dogs-You do not learn from previous mistakes. Every year is the same. No Sympathy.

Those Bastards beat us in '54 anyway denying us the 4 in a row.

I Hate Footscray. Tough [censored].

HARVEY WALLBANGER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Absent: Salem, Windsor (word is a foot rash going around), Viney, Bowey and Kentfield Train ons: Roy George, no Culley today. Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Tommy Sparrow was here last week in civvies and wearing sunnies. He didn’t train. Today he’s training but he’s wearing goggles so he’s likely got an eye injury. There’s a drill where Selwyn literally lies on top of Tracc, a trainer dribbles the ball towards them and Tracc has to g

THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
