Very disappointed about Maric missing out and PJ getting another game despite having 3 shockers in a row.

That sucks, was looking forward to seeing Maric play

I hope to god there is a late change-

Bartram for Maric

I was starting to get real excited to see Maric play :(

No Maric!

ROFL!!!!!!!!!!!!!

best skills at the club, and he cant crack a game.

Maric will play. Moloney out.

Where did u get that from mate?

I have heard moloney will for sure be playing and i can say its a very close source :)

haha why put juice ahead of maric.

because "he provied a target"...get censored.

maric deserves the spot.

It is an absolute joke that PJ is playing instead of Spencer. Why can't Bailey give two young ruckmen a go?

Also sad that Maric and Cheney missed out.

Argh my dreamteam! :(

Ran into KC from Casey and he told me that Maric was best for Casey last week by a country mile. Given that was his third good effort he will surely play. KC also said he heard a little whisper that Moloney may not be 100%. We will see.

Whatever, Moloney will not be lining up at CHF so there will changes of some sort.

Yep.. and Newton HASN'T earned his spot. Thats what worries me. Hope DB doesn't turn it into a game of trial and experiment, i mean, whats with Jetta in the back pocket as well? At this stage, this round, we need a win. We're gonna be hard-pressed to win any of the next 6, so i believe it makes Sunday all that more important for us and a good reason not to try jetta in the back pocket, or Newton on a half-forward flank. We need to get our best team, in their best positions, playing to their strengths, to get A win on the board. Try something new when we're 10 goals down at 3 qtr time, unfortunetly theres gonna be plenty of chances to do so. Don't know what DB's thinking.

Hope Newts does a toe.. Maric in..

i'm astounded Addam hasn't been selected... Really thought Bartram was going to be dropped this week... I guess we'll find out tomorrow night if Maric lines up at Casey or not...

on a positive note, McMahon has come back into the Richmond side... surely this can only be a good thing...

Jake King's out though. That means a few less turnovers from the Tigers.

I'm hoping for 3 late changes. Out- Newton, Dunn, Johnson

In- Maric, Spencer, Cheney

Not HAPPY.... i thought Maric was a shoe in for selection... also spencer should be playing instead of Paul "DUD" johnson.... WTF is going on DB??????

why the hell wouldnt we play maric?

i just dont understand maybe bails recons he need more vfl time?

i really dont no.

Jetta`s playing so he might reckon there is no need to play Maric.

Jetta`s playing so he might reckon there is no need to play Maric.

Makes no sense.

Maric is 5 times better, is a ball magnet, and the best kick at the club.

Plus our forward line is a joke.

Maric is the man to spark us.

While maric did play well for casey in the last three quarters he was still struggling for a bit of fitness... at afl level he would struggle and maybe get caught out a little so might need another week, still could fit in that side i think...

Still cant believe people think spencer should be in the side for PJ, i admit he has struggle but spencer was well beating at vfl level... has done nothing to get a recall!!!

McMahon has no confidefnce in himself, treats the pill as a hot potato, good teams expose him

Maric had surgery over the summer so it maybe that Bailey feels he needs another game at VFL Level to have the match fitness for an AFL game. Certainly when fit he will be a vauable addition in midfield and forward.

Newton has promise. He can take a spectacular grab and applies good defensive pressure. His challenge is to take more of the less spectacular marks, do the regulation mark and goal. Hopefully the kgs he put on over summer will assist. Certainly opposing defenders would be more concerned at being one out with Newton than Pettard as hte ball comes in long or on the lead.

  • REPORT: Richmond

The fans who turned up to the MCG for Melbourne’s Anzac Day Eve clash against Richmond would have been disappointed if they turned up to see a great spectacle. As much as this was a night for the 71,635 in attendance to commemorate heroes of the nation’s past wars, it was also a time for the Melbourne Football Club to consolidate upon its first win after a horrific start to the 2025 season. On this basis, despite the fact that it was an uninspiring and dour struggle for most of its 100 minutes, the night will be one for the fans to remember. They certainly got value out of the pre match activity honouring those who fought for their country. The MCG and the lights of the city as backdrop was made for nights such as these and, in my view, we received a more inspirational ceremony of Anzac culture than others both here and elsewhere around the country.

  • CASEY: Richmond

The match up of teams competing in our great Aussie game at its second highest level is a rarity for a work day Thursday morning but the blustery conditions that met the players at a windswept Casey Fields was something far more commonplace. They turned the opening stanza between the Casey Demons and a somewhat depleted Richmond VFL into a mess of fumbling unforced errors, spilt marks and wasted opportunities for both sides but they did set up a significant win for the home team which is exactly what transpired on this Anzac Day round opener. Casey opened up strong against the breeze with the first goal to Aidan Johnson, the Tigers quickly responded and the game degenerated into a defensive slog and the teams were level when the first siren sounded.

  • POSTGAME: Richmond

After five consecutive defeats, the Demons have now notched up back-to-back victories, comfortably accounting for the Tigers in the traditional ANZAC Eve clash. They surged to a commanding 44-point lead early in the final quarter before easing off the pedal, resting skipper Max Gawn and conceding the last four goals of the game to close out a solid 20-point win.
