Brent Moloney

It was hard to tell watching the match on TV, but it seemed like Beamer missed most, if not all of the last quarter, and most of the 3rd? I thought he was one of our best in the first half, and couldn't figure out why he wasn't on the ground. Just wondering if anyone who was at the ground knows whether he might have picked up me sort of injury or niggle, and hence was rested for the majority of the 2nd half? This would be a major blow as he's been one of our best so far this year.

Any clues?

It`s great to have Beamer back in the side after another good effort yesterday with 18 touches,6 marks, 5 kicks Inside 50,1 goal and 2 centre clearances. Yesterday I picked up on Moloney`s kicking accuratcy around the 50 metre mark. We should continue playing Moloney in a rotating role on the half forward flank and on the ball, because he can find the goals with that raking right boot. He uses his strength around the stoppages,Puts on good defensive pressure at times, tackles and chases, but you just got to wonder if he can use all his strengths for 4 quarters. Same with all of our players. If we are going to be a competitive team we need all our players using all their strengths for a full 4 quarters, which is part of the reason why we can`t put in a full 4 quarter effort.

Thoughts?

You will remember back to I think it was ROund 3 last year wheen Dean Bailey blasted him at the quarter time huddle for continually kickjing the ball long straight to the opposition. Bailey went straight for Moloney and said something like 'not once, not twice, but 3 times' and even used his fingers to count it in Moloneys face.

Something you would never see from Neale Daniher.

Moloneys game has now changed for the better.

Notice now when he gets the ball he acxtually looks ahead to see whats on offer, and now instead of blazing away, a large percentage of his kicks travel less than 30 metres.

The only thing I worry about is that he may get gun shy on occasions and not use his booming 60 metre kick even if it is the best option.

Anyway, so far so good. A win for Bailey, the Demons and the fans.

Yeah, remember that. If he can use his booming 60 metre kick more often when he`s in range he can be one of our midfielders who kicks some goals, he does kick a few goals already though. I remember a thread back a long time ago complaining about Melbourne midfielders not kicking enough goals.

    CROSSROADS by The Oracle

Melbourne stands at the crossroads.  Sunday’s game against the West Coast Eagles who have not met the Demons at the MCG in more than ten years, is a make or break for the club’s finals aspirations.  That proposition is self-evident since every other team the club will be opposed to over the next eight weeks of footy is a prospective 2024 finalist. To add to this perspective is the fact that while the Demons are now in twelfth position on the AFL table, they are only a game and a half b

    DELUGE by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons overcame their inaccuracy and the wet inhospitable conditions to overrun the lowly Northern Bullants at Genis Steel Oval in Cramer Street, Preston on Saturday. It was an eerie feeling entering the ground that in the past hosted many VFA/VFL greats of the past including the legendary Roy Cazaly. The cold and drizzly rain and the sparse crowd were enough to make one want to escape to the nearby Preston Market and hang out there for the afternoon. In the event, the fans

    INSANITY by Whispering Jack

Somehow, the Melbourne Football Club managed it twice in the course of a week. Coach Simon Goodwin admitted it in his press conference after the loss against the Brisbane Lions in a game where his team held a four goal lead in the third term:   "In reality we went a bit safe. Big occasion, a lot of young players playing. We probably just went into our shell a bit. "There's a bit to unpack in that last quarter … whether we go into our shells a bit late in the game."   Well
