Bater's Blog

He's certainly toeing the competitive line. It's a shame that there aren't any decent synonyms for "competitive", the word is starting to grate a bit.

This is a suggestion I made at the Youth Summit (I'm sure I'm not the only one), but I can't help but feel quite a bit is lost by the club instigating this...

As I said on the day, Gilbert Arenas is famous for writing a blog almost as much as for being a superstar in the NBA, obviously though he wouldn't have the former without the latter.

The thing that makes Gil's blog so interesting and entertaining is that he doesn't hold back or get censored -- it is an unadulterated insight into his personality, which he has in spades, and his everyday life & random thoughts.

From this he's drawn a lot of publicity & attention towards his team to great effect.

The point is: with the club having control & censorship over a player's blog on the club website, I doubt it will be even half as entertaining as it could be.

I was envisaging a player that is a bit of clown, not too concerned about what other ppl think and who loves the sound of their own voice.

Bate, to me, seems more of the sensible, reserved type.

Good to see the club listening though (Jamar seemed fairly enthusiastic about the idea).

And it'd be hard for a player to come out doing their own blog, ignoring the club's desire for censorship of anything & everything, unless you were a Judd or Ablett.

Ugh, his girlfriend is from Perth...I hope she doesn't get wind of what Mitchell Johnson did last year at the request of his partner.
