How about the young Aussie Saville winning the Junior Wimbledon title... hopefully he has a great future in Tennis.

The Joker had a great tournament and thoroughly deserved the title. Will be interesting to see if Rafa and Federer respond at the US Open.

Australians' Barty and Saville took out the juniors girls and boys victories respectively.

Thanks 45. Saville. Fixed. Hopefully it's a good sign for Australian Tennis.

Bummer :( ......

Finally, a world #1 I can hate.

Not too hard is it, but I do miss having a nice, polite, humble fella on the top there  !!!

Anyone watch that Stosur-v-Kirilenko match the other day? Would have to be the best womens match I've ever seen. And I hate womens tennis!

Anyone reckon she can take out the open? I reckon she can as long as someone else beats Williams before the final.

Well done on the US Open win Sammy Stosur, first Aussie woman to win a Grand Slam title in 38 years!

Suprise, suprise to see another Serena Williams blow up, can't stand that woman!

Hopefully she can bring her winning form to the Australian Open in the new year.

Enormous win !

Good on Sammy.

Wow. Hewitt v Wawrinka match suspended due to darkness. Hewitt down 5-3 in the fifth. Looks like he'll lose I guess, which sucks, falling at the very last hurdle. Tomic was great to beat Wawrinka and give us a chance, and even took a set off Federer, and Hewitt's been good in both games. So close, if we do end up losing. So close.

Hate to be a negative Nancy, even though it was a great effort by Lleyton. But if Hewitt can't beat Wawrinka on grass (Wawrinka's worst surface & Hewitt's best) at home then surely the end is coming.

Maybe an Australian Open farewell tournament for Lleyton. Should play in the singles and would also be nice to see him play in the doubles at the Aussie Open with Tomic, changing of the guard if you will. And the mixed doubles with Sam Stosur as she like Hewitt has been our most succesful womens player in the last 30 years.

Hewitt, Tomic & Stosur would have to all be willing to do this but it would be a nice way to go out IMO.

I think the end has been coming for Hewitt for more than a little while now.....

He has to now assess whether he can keep up with what's going on in the mens game with a body that has been failing him a quite some time.

Yes, Hewitt has lost his zip thanks to a series of injuries. It's a demanding game physically and emotionally and he has lost the ability to maintain a competitive edge. Let's not forget his young family whilst been the joy of his life, have no doubt also moved the goal posts on his priorities and for some time now - he no longer plays the amount of tournaments he used to - year in, year out. He targets certain tournaments nowadays into his schedule. And that has to effect his consistency and hence results.

Anyone who ranks at number one for a large chunk of time as Hewitt had done, plus win a Grand Slam event or two (Wimbledon & US Open) , as well as represent Australia at Davis Cup with distinction over a long time, deserves praise and recognition. Even if he did get a little heated on court.

I'll always remember him as a great competitor when his tennis career is over. And I have no doubt so will many of his opponents.

Surprised nobody has bumped this up.

I hate women's tennis at the best of times, but watching Sherapova play is akin to watching 2 hours of really slow, boring porn.

A final between her and Azarenka will be unbearable!

My tips for the win are Azarenka and Federer (really hedging my bets here :P )

Much-maligned for how people see him, I find it impossible to see how anyone could say that Hewitt is anything less than an exceptional sportsman.

Just gets so much out of himself and is one of the better fighters in sport that I've seen.

Very impressive tournament from Lleyton this year, considering his draw. I was doing some research on him and apparently his old man was a pretty good footballer and played a few games for Richmond. Lleyton chose tennis over football relatively early on, but allegedly could have done well in either sport.

Agreed.

As much as he irks me, I admire him for fighting every match out.

He was clearly the lesser opponent yesterday, but he kept pushing his way through the game.

I don't think he's ever been the best tennis player at any one time, but he got to number 1 and won the grand slams because he was mentally stronger than the other players.

To push through injuries at his age (let's be honest, he is no spring chicken anymore, especially when he plays 24 year olds regularly), was good to see.

Tomic has probably as much ability as Hewitt, but he is far too arrogant and mentally weak. Needs to change that if he's going to really succeed. Federer gave him a serious lesson, whereas Hewitt can walk away from last night with his head held up high.

Nadal stepped it up a gear last night. Looking forward to see Nadal, Federer and Djokovic make the pointy end of the tournament and see who conquers who.

My money is on Ferrer to knock off Djokovic tonight.

Err... no.

Err... no.

Nadal for me DA. All the way on Sunday. He is on fire and the knee doesn't seem to trouble him. An extra day helps.

I love an underdog and I DESPISE Djokovic, but if Murry wins tonight it'll be a miracle.

Spewing I missed the match last night, although the outcome wasn't what I wanted.

Will luckily be out, so will avoid the horror of watching the two squealers go at it tomorrow night. Let's just hope Azarenka wins. She is more tolerable than "I'm being raped by a pack of wolves on the court" Sherapova.

Me too HT. Nadal has it in the bag I reckon.

The hypochondriac is in trouble right now v Murray, I'm hoping it goes 5 for entertainments sake. I think Rafa has these 2 covered on Sunday though. I hope so anyway.

Wow , that was a great match ! Should be a classic Final on Sunday night - Go Rafa ! Though I like Novak as well .

Volume possibly on mute for tomorrow nights Ladies Final !

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Essendon

It’s Pink Lady night at Princes Park — a vibey Friday evening setting for a high-stakes clash between second-placed Melbourne and eleventh-placed Essendon. The wind-sheltered IKON Park, a favourite ground of the Demon players, promises flair, fire and a touch of pink. Melbourne has never lost a home-and-away game here, though the ghosts of two straight-sets finals exits in 2023 still linger.

The premiership defender has shown signs of wear and tear due to age, and his 2025 season was inconsistent, ending poorly with a suspension and a noticeable decline in performance. The Demons are eager to integrate younger players onto their list and have indicated that they may not be able to guarantee him senior games next season, in what would be the final year of his contract.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: # 2 Jacob van Rooyen

The young key tall failed to make progress during the season, with a decline in his goal kicking output. His secondary role as a backup ruckman, which may have hindered his ability to further develop his game, and he was also impacted by the team's poor forward connection. It will be interesting to observe his performance under a new coaching regime.
