Are there any figures for how many people have signed on for monthly donations going forward? I signed up for $30/month until the debt is cleared.

Had a taped Jim Stynes recording ring me earlier today on my Mobile for Debt Demolition. Hope all those recorded calls going out to members are at a cheap rate with iPrimus for the clubs sake. I'm sure they would of worked out a good deal?

At $0.20 p/call you'd only need one $20 donation p/100 calls to break even, and I'd be disappointed if...

a) the Club were spending that much on calls

B) the calls didn't prompt more donations

Agree.

What about the costs associated with calling mobiles?

$2, 596, 713

Over half way now.

Wonder if the foxtel donation will be going in today?

Green on foxtel said that would probably be the case with an announcement today.

Yes. He did say the announcement of the $100K would be today. That will take it to $2.7M. Good stuff! I'm still standing by my prediction $3.5M.

i think 2.9mill. i mean it is the 22nd of august already with one minor fundraising luncheon to come.

Freak, do you think it needs more publicity than it's getting? Or do you think MFC are doing all they can?

I think it needs a run on sport on the News or something. Not everyone watches the Footy Show.

I think the club has done the best you can possibly do without rattling tins infront of peoples faces 24/7

I think its been getting pretty good publicity, great ad in The Age today promoting our future with our 3 Rising Stars, been ads in their consistently all month. Its had a good run on The Footy Show and its been mentioned in the news, you cant expect the news to promote our cause to hard other than to comment on newsworthy events like the good results from our dinner, there supposed to be independent media. Most football followers are well aware of it and there the people who will donate.

However when my old man rang to order a copy of the Norm Smith book from the MFC he told them if they could arrange a copy signed by Jimmy Stynes & John Lord (# 4 after Normie had it) for my grandad whose a Normie fanatic he'd be willing to pay a substantial price / donation... he never got a call back. You here stories like this all the time. He was going to make a donation regardless, makes you wonder how many opportunities like this go begging though, it would not have been difficult to arrange. Bit of a catch 22 I guess, professional administrative staff cost money and we dont have any, you have to spend money to make money though.

over halfway there

not bad, Stynesy, not bad

Swish ;)

Amount now: - $2,645,588

Fantastic. But we would be close to the bottom of the well now. Where is the next $2.4M going to come from?

Correct. The Debt Demolition month however was aimed at demolishing a decent amount of the debt. With the HOPE that all would be wiped out. It will be close to $3 million by the end of the month. That is a bloody good effort. Cam Schwab, Stynes & board will have to work at it along with members beyond the end of August, to further reduce it and wipe it off as soon as possible by posting profits, etc.

Sitting at almost 2.7 now ($2695428). 3m by the end of the month will be very close!!!

I find it hard to believe those being critical of the Stynes lead board in light of the excelent work being done.

They have stood up for this club when it needed new energy and ideas and are making inroads I dont think the other board (no disrespect) without this new invigoration.

Article in The Age this morning that the total is now around $2.8 million raised from an estimated 1,400 supporters,

http://www.realfooty.com.au/news/news/new-...9516471698.html

While the total is great, I am devastated that only 1,400 have donated. That is a very low percentage of our members, let alone our supporter base.

I hope Jimmy and Gary hit the media and come on the Footy Show to encourage ALL of our members and supporters to make sure that they give something, even if it is only $5 or $10 dollars.

Its an absolute disgrace. Everyone keeps banging on about $2.7k, that all came from the 150 night, its $650k - thats the pitifall amount our members & supporter base have come up with. Imagine if they only raised $1m at the 150 night, would everyone be happy with the disgraceful effort of our members then?

I'm on the lighter side of the contributers myself...have pledged $18.58 per month for 12 months.

I know its not huge...but thats my point - when I tell my mates the 1858 resonates, they can see how affordable that option is and how it can be fitted into the monthly budget..5 to 6 less coffee's per month.

If by non-violent means of persuasion we can get just 35% of the thus far non-contributing members to do the same the debt is demolished!

It is a good point I.A.N.

I'm hoping there are many supporters like yourself who have decided to go the monthly deduction offer. I wonder if the club can put an estimated total in brackets for how much they'll raise after the 12 months of direct debit has been completed (i.e. we have $2.8m but we have 1000 who have said direct debit, totalling $240,000, or something along those lines)

Dirct Debit Debt Demolition. Illiteration at it's finest

$ 2, 819 , 704

4 days to go!

I wouldnt mind if they kept the whole debt demolition thing open for even another month!

Why limit it to a month?

Saying that i think they have done a fantastic job!

  • CASEY: Richmond

The match up of teams competing in our great Aussie game at its second highest level is a rarity for a work day Thursday morning but the blustery conditions that met the players at a windswept Casey Fields was something far more commonplace. They turned the opening stanza between the Casey Demons and a somewhat depleted Richmond VFL into a mess of fumbling unforced errors, spilt marks and wasted opportunities for both sides but they did set up a significant win for the home team which is exactly what transpired on this Anzac Day round opener. Casey opened up strong against the breeze with the first goal to Aidan Johnson, the Tigers quickly responded and the game degenerated into a defensive slog and the teams were level when the first siren sounded.
