NORTHERN BULLANTS v SANDRINGHAM at MC Labour Park

Featured Replies

Haven't heard much on the stream about Jonesy. Newton injured arm?

Being double teamed. The Zebras are struggling to get some system together while the Ants are playing full of confidence. Eleven point lead at the halfway mark of the quarter. Newton handballing on the boundary and could come on soon.

Fifth goal to Ackland. This one from a free kick. Bullants have 9 frees to 1 this quarter. Score N. Bullants 8.4.52 to 5.4.34. Zebs really struggling and playing poorly. The bad news is that with Frankston well in front the loser of this game is bound to go out of the eight.

The good news is that Juice is back on.

Half time and the Northern Bullants 9.5.59 lead Sandringham 5.4.34. Sandy are being crushed out of the middle (6 clearances to 1) and the Bullants kicked the last five goals for the quarter. As far as the MFC listed players are concerned, it seems to me that a few of them have already received a message about their future and it doesn't look too good. Jeff White took a couple of good marks early in the quarter but that's about it. From Sandy's POV Chad Liddell has tried hard but some of the others are struggling.

Beach Road Bazza reports from MC Labour Park that Sandringham is having trouble coping with Ackland's marking power and look shot. Carroll went onto Ackland and had some effect but the team will need a big effort in the final half if they want to keep their 2008 season track.

Sandringham 4.3.27 5.4.34

Northern Bullants 4.0.24 9.5.59

The reserves have kept their finals hopes well and truly alive with a 17 point win.

Thanks for the updates DA. Keep them up

Still seven points at the 19 minute mark of the third term. The Bullants have regrouped and are stemming the Sandringham push. Umpires atrocious - someone at the MFC must have done something to the umpiring gods this weekend. In the other game Port Adelaide 16 points ahead of St. Kilda.

Surely he'd have to go in the Sandy seniors now?

Sandy in front after a Jeff White goal. Lead 11.7.73 to 10.9.69 at the final break but the Bullants kicking to the scoring end.

First time out of the 8 for a long time and it's real backs to the wall stuff from hereon in.

Bit of a worry Jones couldn't crack the bests. Frawley second best on is encouraging, hopefully will get a spot next week for Col.

Why's that?

It's not like we don't know his capabilities and how he plays the game.

He must be horribly out of form if he can't get in the bests at VFL level.

Not necessarily. I remember from my playing days it often seemed harder to get a kick in the 2's than the 1's. I think its to do with predictability of the game and skill level of the players.

Having said that though, his main game is clearances and CP's, which should be less affected. Guess that's why he is in the 2's at the moment.

(That's presuming the list of best players is accurate.) ;)

I know Gary O'Donnell(sp?) has said before he found playing at AFL easier than playing for North Ringwood due to the fact that at AFL all the players had good enough skills to kick the ball to you

It’s Pink Lady night at Princes Park — a vibey Friday evening setting for a high-stakes clash between second-placed Melbourne and eleventh-placed Essendon. The wind-sheltered IKON Park, a favourite ground of the Demon players, promises flair, fire and a touch of pink. Melbourne has never lost a home-and-away game here, though the ghosts of two straight-sets finals exits in 2023 still linger.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: # 1 Steven May

The premiership defender has shown signs of wear and tear due to age, and his 2025 season was inconsistent, ending poorly with a suspension and a noticeable decline in performance. The Demons are eager to integrate younger players onto their list and have indicated that they may not be able to guarantee him senior games next season, in what would be the final year of his contract.

The young key tall failed to make progress during the season, with a decline in his goal kicking output. His secondary role as a backup ruckman, which may have hindered his ability to further develop his game, and he was also impacted by the team's poor forward connection. It will be interesting to observe his performance under a new coaching regime.
