just saw fox sport news-

Saw Paul Mac getting interviewed in his car- Visibily disappointed and shattered with the decision.

Julian De Stoop said not surprising- Stuart Fox mentioned a number of times as a chance- is it too late? Schwab a certinity to be involved with the club in some capacity next year but maybe not the CEO.

Sounds to me Stuart Fox is really wanted by Stynes and the board.. Paul Mac needed to go now before fox was snapped up by cook and geelong?

Sounds to me as though Fox is a key member of whats going on at Geelong, and It would be tough to get him.

I’m surprised that any Melbourne person would have any issue with Cameron Schwab getting involved with our club.

I don’t know Schwab that well, although I did some recruiting work with the club in the early to mid 80’s – very dark days for the club. I have followed his career since from a distance.

He went to Richmond, who were stuffed as GM and he was only 24. He set up the Save our Skins campaign which saved the club. He also famously sacked Kevin Bartlett and got John Northey over and they made the finals, something they haven’t done a lot of.

why wouldn’t we be interested?

I worked with the wife of a Richmond board member during Cameron's time at their club. They were both pretty good friends and I saw them socially often. They are down to earth get stuck in and help types, with very little BS about them at all.

So believe me when I say Cameron Schwab had little or no respect from either the board or the staff.

If he came up with the Save our Skins campaign I wouldnt be surprised but he is an ideas man at best.

He is not hands on and is very much a Machiavellian string puller.

He is mates with CC and JS and if he was bought in, I hope it is not as a CEO. He is not a team player and in my mind is similar to a young Greg Miller.

He is shifty. Be careful. Im sure he is currently rehearsing his long time love of Melbourne speech that he used when going to the Tigers.

This is Welchy's first post. It is full of sh!t and makes me wonder who actually posted it.

Jimmy is taking full control and responsibility to what happens to this club. A lot of changes in 12 months. Since this time last year we re-built the footy department, added 7 young players to our list plus 4 new rookies to our list therefore turned around 11 players, Captain retires, White/Yze/Holland can't get a game, a new board, and now we are rebuilding our administration. Even knowing we are 150yo we are starting from scratch.

On the contrary, Grimesy! Once Cook dismissed the idea of moving to the GC, Stuart Fox was blocked from the top job at Geelong. He was always talked up as being in the top 3 for the MFC job (with MacNamee and Mick Conlan), and it appears that he was probably Stynes' first choice. It is a lot less tougher to get him than it was a couple of weeks ago!

Richmond have long been a basket case and to some extent still are. Maybe it's your friends who weren't upto it. No offence is meant here just pointing out that friendship will usually cloud your judgement

Mr Sheahan I owe you an apology...your mousing antennae is spot on.

How in the hell was McNamee on 460 grand a year? What was he even doing?

I pray this is being done to strengthen our team, and that Stynes is truly assembling a good team, but the amount of money our club wastes through decisions like this (is that 400,000 this year just through sacking Harris and McNamee?) is just outrageous.

We need to learn staff retention, we need a core group of people that stay together

On the footy field it is common to bottom out to rebuild, looks like Jimmy is taking the same approach to off field, get rid of people that aren't right for the club short term pain but hopefully you get the right people around you, I get the feeling this may be our last chance to get ot right.

It would be Nugget, but I don't think a guy like Fox is looking to play second fiddle for too much longer. Especially having served his apprenticeship under the man widely regarded as the pre-eminent club CEO in the AFL, in Brian Cook, Fox will be gunning for a CEO role, or at the very least a position which will see him assume such responsibilities within 6 months or a year of him taking it. Paul Mac would be on a 3 year contract I would have thought.

Anyway, this is sensationalist BS from the masters down at the Hun. We've heard little to suggest that McNamee is struggling, at least beyond getting to grips with the nuances of being an AFL CEO.

No issues with Schwab...Certainly no issues with Fox either...2 excellent candidates

I'll back Stynes and co. on this. If Schwab's better than McNamee or there is a role for him at the club bring him in. Good people are hard to find so when there's a chance to grab them you grab them. If McNamee's struggling then he need's help (or a different job)

good call, l back Jimmy all the way, if McNamee ain't up to it bring in Fox or Schwab

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
