Was driving past junction oval tonight and saw Hamish Blake (aka the Hamish and Andy Show if anyone doesn't know and is a social delinquint) filming a sketch with Jim Stynes, Matthew Bate, Clint Bartram and Jared Rivers. He was decked out in Melbourne gear and at first actually mistaked him for Cale Morton.

You saw all that while you were driving past? Sure you didnt park the car, get out and take all that in?

Yes, Mr.G.Lyon presented him a guernsey last night on the Footy Show, Hamish signed as a member yesterday. And worked out in the gym yesterday at the Junction. Not sure about the Number 1 Ticket Holder just yet. Maybe next year?

Good to see people still signing up. Around 28,800 signed up. Hopefully break the 29,000 barrier for the first time with a couple of days to go.

It was good, i mean he showed that he doesn't really know much about the club (calling Bailey "bisket"!).

I thought maybe Biscuit was actually his nickname?

And when they were asking him about the club I reckon he did well! Wasn't it just part of his schtick? Acting dumb? He didn't get any questions wrong....

I always disliked him before, but even just coming on and answering a few questions they showed better comic timing, wit and originality than Sam, Trev and the others have shown the whole year combined.

But don't we have Greg Evans?????:o

We did...and "Dexter" even joined the backline coaching staff and was responsible for match-ups.

Sadly it just never really worked out.

I don't listen to much of his radio stuff (I can't stand commercial radio and their music), but Hamish Blake would have to be one of the funniest and wittiest personalities around.

Look up his Thank God You're Here stuff on YouTube, brilliant.

The segment was humorous enough, and as someone has already said 'any publicity is good publicity'.

I think he knew more about the club than he did, and was 'playing dumb'.

For those that didnt see it, they showed a clip of him running into the tackle bags (where he did indeed look like a dead-ringer form Morton), jumper over the ruck bags which Chairman Jim was wearing to take a hanger, not being able to complete push-ups in the change rooms and finally trying to peel Garry Lyons name off the #3 locker, much to hoots of laughter from Clint Bartam. He was then presented with a guernsey from Garry in the studio. A good segment overall for us..

As for being our potential #1 ticket holder? Anything is better than the corrupt and morally bankrupt Lord Mayor that currently holds that honour.

Oh, and the 3AW host that people speak of is Nick MCallum, who also hosts all of our post-game functions and does a pretty good job I think.

You can see the Hamish and Andy section HERE

Thanks Mickrocks1, I just had to have another laugh. It was good publicity for the club and its supporters. Had a call from Big Jim this morning re membership and MFC Raffle. They're on the front foot which is good to see!

Hamish is a classic. He's work on "Thank God your here!" is first class comedy.

which video is it???

Its the EJ Whitten Legend's video... Sorry - I couldn't work out how to do the direct link.

Chris Connolley said l;ast night we are about 250 people off 29,000 which is a freaking good effort,

I also think he acted dumb for the show as well.

i think hamish should have gone on before the game instead of mick malloy

What happened to that guy? He used to be hysterical! Now he trots out the same three gags, and it' gotten to the point where when he somehow wrestles the focus off one of the other panel members, you cringe just as he gets to the punchline. Either he's just not funny and people laugh politely, or they kind of make a mass groan because he's made a joke in poor taste.

Bring back Heliar, or Rove... or ANYONE.

This is absolutely unbelievable considering the year we are having. If we put in a good effort against the lions, I reckon we'll finish the year over 29,000.

I'm still shaking my head in amazement.

Good stuff. Love Hamish (and to a lesser extent Andy).

Bloody good effort getting that many members in what is a pathetic year. Just goes to show there are supporters out there handing over their money and doing their part. Now hopefully the team can repay us in the future for what we've had to put up with recently :P

The Demons’ aggressive small forward who kicks goals and defends the Demons’ ball in the forward arc. When he’s on song, he’s unstoppable but he did blot his copybook with a three week suspension in the final round. 2024 Player Reviews: #1 Steven May

The years are rolling by but May continued to be rock solid in a key defensive position despite some injury concerns. It was another strong season from McVee who spent most of his time mainly at half back but he also looked at home on a few occasions when he was moved into the midfield.
