Why did Haddin go for the Slog day 1 of a test Match, when a long careful innings is needed?

Todays players really don't understand Test cricket sadly. Too much 20/20 i fear.

Test players should not be allowed to play 20/20 in a perfect world.!!! Grrr

Mitch switched on with the bat. Could this mean he's also going to be switched on with the ball? Let's bloody well hope so, because otherwise there's no reason to keep watching/following this Test.

Also, I love Mike Hussey. Wish he'd gone on though.

so.....who do you think will be in the World Cup side?

hope D Hussey and Hodge get selected as well as Binga and Warner will more then likely be in

I really hope they select a completely different batting line up to the test XI, Bowling is not so crucial.

This pitch today is a beauty, nothing wrong with it!!

South Africa all over the Indians early - 3/27.

My money's been on S.A. for a while, was "happy" to hear the Khan was out. Would prefer him in for the spectacle, however.

Interesting that he's been named 12th man.

Hardly surprising to see Beer not picked.

Doesnt matter whether Beer is 12th or 13th man!!!

Perhaps I should have elaborated. I said it was interesting, because he had been promised a start by the chairman of selectors. He'd also had all his family and cricket friends come over to WA to watch his debut call up.

Interesting !

Looks as though Punter had the last say.

India 9/136! Go South Africa. Steyn and Morkel showing Harris and Hilfenhaus how to use a new ball.

Finally, the criticism is being heaved upon our batsmen. Watson, Katich, Hussey and Haddin seem capable of playing against swing. Hughes, Ponting, Clarke, North and Smith don't. Funnily enough, the first four have all done OK so far this series, Hussey and Haddin especially, whilst the last five have hardly looked like scoring runs.

Let's re-visit this, shall we WYL.....

5/69 what a shambles...oh well at least heads will now roll from the top down....

Hilditch and co must register at centrelink monday morning!!!

Let's not throw the baby out with the bath water just yet WYL. Whilst Hussey is still digging in and England still have to face the music (I hope it's music to our ears.... ). There is two innings to be played too. I'm obviously an optimist. Cricket has always been a funny game delivering peaks and troughs.

I admire your optimism HT, but with our bowling attack i cannot see it.

I wonder what Mitchell Johnson will dish up. Will he be switched on or not Bat and ball. Since the stoush with his mum he just hasn't been right.

Oh dear......

Forget his mum. That would be the last thing on he's mind playing for Australia with his career on the line. Or so you'd think, anyway.

He just needs to put his best foot forward. He has been wayward previously, but he can take wickets. All four bowlers are arguably in the same boat.

Hehehe You spoke to early HT. i threw out the bath water about 2 hours ago, .......

No I didn't WYL....

England 5/98 and MJ has 4 wickets ! Something about being optimistic...cricket being a funny game....cricket can deliver peaks and troughs.......

There. End of lesson.

Aah i see it has turned interesting-Been out all morning doing Christmas shopping. So Johnson has fired up i am guessing-Cool.

I still say the selectors need to go because of our rusty old Top order, but its good to see the Tail is having a red hot Crack.

Yes and it is a funny old game-and there will be more lessons learnt in the next 2 1/2 days.

Which is why i hate 20/20 so much. B)

Edit: Wow just saw a scorecard Johnson 4-7!! Wish i had seen that...Whatever Mitchell did in the Carpark last week must have worked!!!

Not suprised though after his batting yesterday...he looked hungry again..

Will the Poms Tail wag??

So should the selectors be kept for their selection of the lower order?

So who should the selectors have dropped and selected for the top order bearing in mind you have Captain and VC at number 3 and 4?

Very Sage.

Missed where its needed most.

Mitchell Johnson went back and worked on his bowling. He is hitting the crease taller and with more control. It's enabling him to swing and causing trouble for the batsmen.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
