I think there are serious 'travel fears' associated with Pakistan that do not exist in India at all. The situations in those 2 countries are vastly different, so I take Symonds' side on that one. As for whether he'll play again, that's up to him I guess. I reckon he will, because if he doesn't, he'll lose out on all the sponsorship deals he would otherwise get.

Geoff Lawson has left Pakistan it was reported on SEN this morning.

Howzat - 6 Bangladeshi's have walked out of their nation's side to play in the Indian League! Is it the death of the Bangladeshi's!?

  • 4 weeks later...

Return of cricket today with the first day of the first test of the Bordar-Gavaskar trophy. This should be a cracking series. I think India will win it too.

Cameron White makes his debut, representing Victoria.

Ponting won the toss, elected to bat. Zaheer Khan bowled the first over, and had Hayden caught behind third ball. Replays suggest the noise was bat on pad, not bat on ball. Currently 1/7 in the 7th over, Ponting on 6, Katich on 1.

Katich out for 66 after a pretty good knock, highest second wicket partnership by a touring team in banglaore, 7 minutes before tea.

Can they get another before the break?

LOL NZ, isn't half the Bangladeshie team banned from International cricket now as well?

What's worse than losing to the Bangladesh Firsts? Losing to their Seconds!

Thanks Chook! He just got Ponting

wasn't me :) Cricinfo (hasn't Baggygreen turned into a useless website?) let me know that Punter was out, however i've only got the updates, and i'm sure harbhajan getting pointing will have caused riots!

Now i just have to put up with my indian mate at work tomorrow... he's already SMSing!

Michael Clarke needs his head read. Why scramble for a single with 7 balls remaining for the day to retain the strike. Out in the last over. LBW. Frustrating.

5/314. M.Hussey is a legend.

5/333 at lunch. Hussey 92. He is so damn unflappable.

I think our run rate is going to hurt us, especially if Harbhajan keeps bowling negatively outside leg stump. 1.5 days in, I reckon Ponting would like a few more on the board. With no Gilchrist or Symonds to smash it, maybe White will show us some fireworks.

Unfortunately not.

I thought at the start of the day we'd be looking at 400. That should now be considered a good score from now on for the Australian team IMO.

No middle order, which will become more apparent as Hayden dwindles and there's no Gilly to save the side.

Biggest problem is that i think we'll battle to take 20 wickets. India should build a massive score, but as they say, never judge a pitch (match) until two teams have batted

And if you thought Queensland's first inning score of 4-13 was troublesome, try their current score in the second inning of 6-16!!

New Zealand 7-118

What's worse than losing to the Bangladeshi Firsts? Losing to the Bangladeshi Seconds!

What's worse than losing to the Bangladeshi Seconds? Losing to them twice!

India's 2/41 at lunch on Day 5. We need 8 wickets, they need 258 runs. Draw's still favourite, but if we can get Tendulkar out early on in this session, we're still a good chance.

The bad light rule is nothing more than frustrating, especially when the Aussies were putting on the slower bowlers - White and Clarke.

Anil Kumble

GAWN

MS Dhoni would be the next Captain in the second test. Is Kumble standing down immediately, Juice?

MS Dhoni would be the next Captain in the second test. Is Kumble standing down immediately, Juice?

will be real soon, as he has an injury to his shoulder and his form has been woeful, the rest of the retirement group should be gone in the next year or so as well i imagine,

ganguly,laxman,dravid,tendulkar

he is only 29

29? Geez he looks 40!

Incidentally the Vics are 0/29 in their Sheffield Shield campaign in the game against Sth Aust in Adelaide.

Kumble Confident of Shoulder Recovery

This would suggest a different story...

Hodge apparently batted really well the other day for his 100. Took about 20 of the last 22 runs to just get there.

Apparently hit a six bigger than Blizzard's in the 20/20 final

  • Thank You Simon Goodwin

As Demon fans, we’ve ridden a rollercoaster of emotions over the decades; the heartbreaks, the near misses, the wooden spoons, and the endless waiting. But through it all, we clung to hope. And then came Simon Goodwin. Before he ever wore red and blue, he was a champion in his own right. A five-time All-Australian, two-time Best and Fairest, and two-time premiership hero and Captain with Adelaide, Simon Goodwin was always destined to lead. When he transitioned from the field to the coach's box, first as an assistant at Essendon, he began shaping a new legacy.

  • PREVIEW: Western Bulldogs

Long ago and far away, the Melbourne Football Club replaced its coach in difficult circumstances after the team suffered a devastating loss. In the aftermath, I penned the following words: “Then came the politics, the intrigue, the axing, the sound of the football world laughing at a club, the circling of the media vultures, the reinvention of history, the anger, the irony, the pathos, the hurt on the face of the president, the dignified departure of the coach, and the determination of the newly appointed caretaker.” Today, we’re back in the same place although one difference here is that the coach who was terminated this time is Simon Goodwin, the man who four years ago

  • REPORT: West Coast

The Charles Dickens novel, A Tale of Two Cities, opens with, “It was the best of times, it was the worst of times, it was the age of wisdom, it was the age of foolishness, it was the epoch of belief, it was the epoch of incredulity, …”  This phrase highlights many of the significant challenges that humanity encounters in life, ranging from experiencing remarkable highs to living in times of despair. This is a concept that should resonate with all supporters of the Melbourne Football Club this morning as they reflect on its comprehensive 83-point victory over the struggling West Coast Eagles at Marvel Stadium. The outcome proved beyond doubt that they are the worst of clubs and that we are the best of the worst.

The Demons return to town fresh off a thumping win over the back-to-back wooden spooners, the West Coast Eagles, played in front of a sparse crowd at Marvel Stadium, the same venue that hosted last week's heartbreaking loss.
