  1. If we were examining an 18 year old D Breterton I wonder what we would be saying. Undersized for a key position, not quick, can't play mid field, can't play back. Let's move on. But hold on he is a natural forward, he has heeps of mongrel and can take a contested mark and kick a goal. What do we do now? Is there some way of testing for that mental capacity to compete that the likes of Brereton, Hodge, Selwood and others have/had to get to every contest? If there is I wish we knew it because if you get one or two of those characters on your list and you are off and running.
  2. That 5 looks vaguely familiar
  3. My worry is where is BBO he seemed somewhat distraught last night. He seemed to be confused about spitting and swallowing in wine tasting and how you could work through an entire wine district and still play a round of golf. These are complex scenarios I know and I believe Clint has worked his way through this. As for me last time I toured Rutherglen I forgot to spit and was at one point what the lads used to say in my day as well and truly "fly blown" the next day!
  4. Before a bomb blew up the No 96 bistro as I remember it. Was that the beginning of terrorism in Oz?
  5. BBO it is about whether you spit or swallow, and I am talking exclusively about wine tasting here. A true sommelier such as myself or as I am sure Demoneyes is can get through any number of wineries yet still enjoy the marvellous grape varieties and vintages of the wine district one is visiting at the time. A wine tasting tour is not to be confused with sculling beers in the back blocks in places like Blackwood!
  6. Yes BBO I have never got South Park, poor animation and violence. If you want poor animation we can go way back to Clutch Cargo where the animated figures stayed the still but their mouths moved but for adult content I prefer Rodger Ramjet or Rocky and Bullwinkle and I could throw in King Leonardo from the Bongo Congo! Gee that is going back in time, the pinnacle of cartoon entertainment.
  7. Are you being served, Dads Army, yes the pinnacle of British humour, I don't think. Are you free Mr Humphries and all that and they don't like it up em sir! No the pinnacle of British humour was Not Only But Also with Peter Cook and Dudley Moore but they are all dead and the early tapes have long gone but for some snippets. But sheer genius on the little that is left. Then you have some gems from Monty Python and later on Fawlty Towers
  8. F Troop over Get Smart! Get a grip on things DC.
  9. BBO some say On the Buses was the high point of Brittish TV comedy (not me of course). Who can forget old Blakey and jack the conductor and the assorted clippies with blond hair and big you know whats. Those were the days. But In this debate I do put agent 86 above all others. A genius in a TV sitcom but I have nominated in general topic area of DLand that Jonathan Winters is the stand up genius of all time. However that is by the by, my real concern is where this so called lunch appointment took place with Biffen! As you know I have estates to the north of Melbourne where I occasionally tour and I make a point of dropping in to see how my serfs er I mean employees are travelling. I don't think I want to unexpectedly stumble into that abode. I mean one has to maintain standards in these trying times.
  10. Delist Evans and McKenzie but we pick them up in the rookie draft on their current payments and with JT on the long term injury list one gets elevated back to where they were. That gives us 2,3, 40 and 53? Opens up two extra picks where there might be some talent, who knows and we pick up Jetta with a very late pick.
  11. I have suggested on the pick 2 and 3 thread that someone should set up a voting thread where you nominate your pick 2 and 3 for the records. So there are no retrospectives when an early pick gun fails to fire a shot, in that people start saying they always advocated player X.
  12. Very sad to hear that news I always looked to LW for a balanced opinion. I know at times I thought he had over indulged in sacrificial wine but he usually gave us a balanced view of the world. Albeit a conservative one from the past.
  13. Mine is definitely calf problems. The last 4 years I have found I can pull a soft tisue at any time. I keep pulling muscles, tendons or ligaments in either leg. It has stuffed my tennis career! As I have stated elsewhere Serena Williams and I have six US Opens between us but I am now sidelined. All I can do is ride a bike or swim, no adrenalin there!
  14. Luna have I missed news of LordWeaver? I do miss his sober input.
  15. Did I see you at Ethihad last week among the 70,000 Jehovah's Witnesses.? I certainly saw some strange dudes there. I happen to work across the road and had hordes of Gods Kingdom's badge wearers in my local cafe. Is there a Romsey branch?
  16. DC it could be Brunswick Street but I hang out with the trendies these days in Smith Street or Gertrude Street although I do stay on the Fitzroy side of course. What is the equivalent trendy spot in Burwood these days?
  17. Goodnight BBO my advice whenever you are dealing with the underclasses is not to spare the rod if they fail to meet your requisites. You are after all doing it for their own good.
  18. BBO it is good to see that there are still people like yourself who recognise and respect the natural hierarchy of our society. That there are those born by bloodlines to lead and those who are born to follow. Such is the natural order. You understand this but what are we to make of the Ryan Griffin types? Where is the respect for their betters, the team, the club, and especially the Board!! Just stop and think of the embarrassment that some Of the Bulldog Board members may be feeling at this time. I feel for them. And what of these upstarts like Ryder and Beams. I say this player power stuff puts us on a very slippery slope toward anarchy! Where will it all end?
  19. I think DC means defection. Give him some slack he often struggles with the detail.
  20. I don't get it. We move all the admin in together at the G but where do the players train? If it was on the G I say great. But if they still have to run over to Gosch's what is the gain? Or do the players stay at AAMI?
  21. Good get NB gee I would have liked to be on that tram and I often am as it looks like the Smith Street tram to me. That said it is a bit of an "unplugged session" which I have always struggled with. This kid is better heard at full electric throttle. He is a talent and he is local. I am an electric guitar groupie I admit. Like I don't want to hear Carlos Santana playing ukulele if you know what I mean because it is waste of talent even if he transformed the whole concept, which he probably would.
  22. Good get Macca. Gee no expense spared in the production of that music video! But it still works. The more I listen to him the more I think the kid is a phenomen!
  23. Harts new song Red and Blue, could it be our alternative anthem played before games? Local talent from Hoppers Crossing who has worked with the artist formerly known as Prince. The album Daydreamer has some other great songs. Sorry no Utube.
