  1. Would think you would want whoever you have relieving in the ruck to at least break even? If not you could be looking at the opposition putting on a couple of goals pretty quickly while your No. 1 is on the bench. I also need to see if he can do the something else. We are talking about a 25 YO who couldn't get regular game time.
  2. No IMO. This remains the most perplexing recruitment decision of the off-season so I'll watch with interest.
  3. It's a crap argument. The intention was to pay players outside the salary cap. The clear intention was to breach it or why would you do it? Her choice of position on this adds weight to criticisms of her journalistic style contained in this thread.
  4. I had to watch it for myself, and she did say it! We understand that the Storms salary cap breaches were worse than Adelaide's but that is possibly only because Adelaide didn't win a flag? What Adelaide were found guilty of and punished for was a salary cap breach. Same thing! She's made a dill of herself, again. It's hardly surprising though given her Judge, Jury & Executioner mentality.
  5. In terms of a draft pick we paid peanuts. On that measure the ROI was good, compared to Morton or Gysberts.
  6. You know I've actually thought it would be cathartic to abuse Carowhine, regardless of the fact it's a fake account. It does appear most of the Collingwood supporters think it's real though.
  7. O'rly! How would you know how much my membership(s) cost? I didn't raise the issue of memberships in any case, the poster I was responding to did. You've heard of irony? Anyway, lets leave that discussion right there because it's not relevant and wasn't the point of my post(s). The point is (and I'm surprised how slow so many of the posters on this thread are) is that Neeld would not touch this bloke right now and in fact may not even consider him if he HAD a strong, developed culture. The Neeld FD criteria for selecting players is ability, character, commitment and a projection of that player in a successful side. I can't fairly comment on Garletts football ability though reports are mixed. Lazy, front runner doesn't seem like a recommendation and Garlett is a hands down failure on character and commitment so best just to put a line through his name and get over it.
  8. How naive. You do realise "on field" is 3 hours a week for half the year? I wish you Garlett fans would stop trying to oversimplify. This is in fact a minimum 24 month full-time commitment which will cost $250,000(?) over that period. As someone who also pays for memberships I would rather a spot on our list went to someone who has shown the work ethic from day 1 or done their time fixing themselves elsewhere.
  9. I know little about the Bulldogs list but I know they had trouble kicking goals last year from their F50 entries. if they want a half forward with good hands and conversion they should take Matty Bate over those other blokes they are looking at.
  10. WTF! You had to ask that question? They are poles apart. Shite, I couldn't be bothered booing Brock McLean the first time he played against us and and he was 100 rungs lower on my respect scale than Liam. If Liam's tribe were in Melbourne (not Adelaide) he would still be at the MFC. His scenario is hardly comparable to that of Judas who lied to Jim and led supporters along for 12 months knowing his dad had already got a deal to join GWS (sorry, didn't really want to have to go back there but had to for context!)
  11. If it could be proved he was lured to walk from Melbourne we might be eligible for compensation from Port?
  12. They might think so? Perhaps memories of Andrew Lovett have already faded? We on the other hand should have very fresh memories of failed footballers for a plethora of reasons to be fair but why bring in a bloke who has let all his failings hang out there and is just an accident waiting to happen to bring more despair on a fragile, developing culture, team mates, coaches, supporters and sponsors.
  13. Looks like he's going to Essendon via the PSD. They are welcome. MFC has had its share of half arsed footballers, kids being kids, and exciting (read lazy) performers. Thanks for the input....close thread?
  14. Had to laugh at this line at the end of the SEN article....more journalistic hyperbole..... "Melbourne face a heavy fine or loss of draft picks if found guilty of not doing their best to win matches in 2009" What rule was this again? Oh, that's right, the one St Kilda, Richmond, West Coast, Sydney, Hawthorn, Carlton, etc. etc broke. Take a number and get in line for your punishment!
  15. 5 pages now....as it relates to the MFC.....of wasted discussion.
  16. The FD has set a high bar for the type of characters they want. You don't then go out and get a new recruit who has a reputation as a DH and slacker and say if he goes of the rails we'll just have to we suck-it-up. It's got nothing to do with the supporters, it's about the type of environment you want your players to develop in and who you want them to develop with.
  17. Tom $cully was from Casey.....enough said.
  18. What's he done that's so good? MFC supporters know better than any others that talent isn't enough and I'm talking about young blokes who haven't been kicked out of the AIS academy. The fact that 18 clubs passed multiple opportunities to get him tells me all I need to know.
  19. Not surprised someone started a thread given his reported ability, but based on the "pillars" the club is using to assess the types of players they want we won't even consider him. So it won't happen....end of discussion!
  20. I would not loose any sleep if we had the chance, passed and he went on to make it somewhere else. We just cannot afford a bloke with the ability to stuff up with crap still hanging over us.
  21. it's a strategic move IMO. It acknowledges they are guilty (we all knew that already), their list is in reasonable shape and they are high in the draft. The picks they are giving up could easily provide misses. If they are booted from next years draft as well they will be desperate to get back in 2014 when their list will be looking a bit tired, which may be part of the strategy. They wouldn't have done this if they were sitting in pole position.
  22. IIRC this photo wast taken for a story on Stinga while he was trying to get back from his injury so this body he built never actually played for the MFC?
  23. The thought occurred to me when I saw the thread title that this was a joke. It is kind of laughable, I wonder if Caroline hand balled this one to the cub reporter because it was just that stupid. Also if players are going to be put in for getting their photo taken with shady characters they better ban cameras at Collingwood's family day next year.
  24. It'll be news to Colin that he crashed his BMW. He was a passenger. I suppose given the The Age's aim of becoming a bottom feeder newspaper having at least one mistake per story is a prerequisite.
