    Bizzell

I said as much to the people I was sitting with and then was told there was 2 and a half minutes to go Great game by Bizz. Courageous as ever and should stay in at least until Rivers is fit and up and playing well.
  2. He should get at least equal time because he needs to develop in this position and this is now a development year.
  3. Actually when I think now about what he has been through as a child and then footballer it is a testament to his resilience that he has turned out a normal and productive bloke. Well done Ox and his missus who seems to be great support for him.
  4. Perhaps the plan is to be more direct. Less run & carry?
  5. More so in the context of Newton playing in the forward line of a top of the ladder VFL team as opposed to a bottom of the ladder AFL team. Melbournes forward line entries are spasmodic and haphazard. Could Juice cope with this???
  6. Should have listened to the SEN commentary (ppl above), they were even handed and as they broadcast into Melbourne only could actually have been accused of barracking for us. Wish I had that luxury of listening to the radio when watching channel 7 but I don't think they have ever broadcast a game live?
  7. This game is not on the ABC to let anyone know who is hoping it was going to be. I will be going to have my first look at Newton so I am hoping to come away a better judge of his talent an application. I support the wraps on Valenti. Height challenged maybe but he is better than a couple of dozen rookies and players on AFL lists.
  8. There was no eye gouge charge. End of story. Otherwise I here the tribunal have been struggling. You could apply for a seat?
  9. I think the statement from the AFL umpires last week that ball players get preferential treatment probably extends to reporting. There seems to be no will by the AFL to charge these players and I remember a couple of incidents from seasons past that were just ignored, one a punch by Crawford on Godders and another by Judd on a Hawthorn player (I think) and Kerrs' punch to the jatz crackers of Mitchell. No doubt the Taggers are doing their thing behind play as well but they need to be far more inconspicuous.
  10. My message to Ben is instigate but never retaliate. If you are going to retailate, wait! Umpires and cameras always pick up the fallout of any incident so Ben will have to cop it. I still haven't seen footage so would be interested to know if this was the result of a wrestle? I also believe this took place in the goal square which makes you wonder what the goal umpy was doing. In the days before video they had to make reports on incidents. If Johnson did head butt you would assume it was clearly visible?
  11. I heard no mention of Melbourne players coming back in Peter Bruckners injury wrap tonight so I am a bit unclear on who is coming back? Think I will wait for a few days before putting up nay thoughts.
  12. Good on you for supporting. As for the official, to bad he wasn't up on the third level where we were regularly treated to the word you have used there (but without the asterix) as well as racial slurs directed at Aaron Davey. Can't wait to get back to my seat at the 'G'
  13. Thanks for the link TonyM. After reading that I would think Lizzie is a shoe in to win the award. What a fantastic lady to have raised 5 kids largely on her own and be able to see two of them playing at the elite level.
  14. I thought the response to Hutchsons probing over the June 22 clause in his contract which allows him to speak to other clubs was particularly funny, words to the effect of "I don't think they'll be queing up" Of course Essendon could come in and offer him a succession to Sheedy. If that happened it may be good for both parties.
  15. I think the deal is more about selling the swans to Canberra than moving unprofitable games from Melbourne. You are right, Melborne v Sydney games I have been too are always well attended. I have no idea why we played them at Telstra Dome the last couple of years.
  16. Good call on Caro. I don't think she has ever painted herself as an expert on playing the game but her calls regarding most other matters are pretty spot on. Her crack at Kingsley was 100% accurate. How Richmond could get rid of Gaspar with an eye to the future but recruit Kent is stupifying. Danners indicated hypothetically early in the intreview that he wouldn't look at playing the kids until round 16 so you can take it that this would be the latest we will see Newton assuming we are out of the finals race by then. <_<
  17. Stole my thunder! Wonder if Jack added his voice to the thread I know was around at the time? I suppose the difference here is the head issue. In the context of this tackle though the circumstances would have resulted in Cornes head hitting the ground just about regardless of who tackled him. It looked bad because essentially Cornes was out as soon as his head hit the ground. Jack, you have fallen victim to like so many others to targetting Byron Pickett without assessing the actual circumstances objectively. This is clearly different to cases where there is a duty of care for a player with his head over the ball.
  18. I also saw a middle aged man tear shreds off a kid for hitting him in the head with a record before the start. Good on you mate, what a goose! He then sat there impassively with his kids for the whole game. Not a clap, cheer or boo from the three of them (kids were probably terrified of him). Thanks for coming though, it added to the bottom line crowd figure and is better effort than those who didn't turn up. The remainder of the crowd were FANTASTIC. Another 10000 making the same amount of noise may have lifted us to a win.
  19. Bump! Fair sentiments. Most here no doubt will go though. We need +20000 to turn a profit.
  20. Doug, isn't that a prime example of accepting this "culture"? Read Real Demons post a couple before yours. There are many people who are not satisfied with second, third or fourth best who support the MFC (they all seem to post here). As supporters of the club we need to demand better performances across the board and we do this by buying memberships going to games and putting the club on a footing where it can compete in a competition which is otherwise very uneven and becoming more so.
  21. The Wiz actually wasn't too much of a problem child whilst at Melbourne (did have some injury problems though). I believe he was warned by those who would know in the FD that it was not in his best interests to return to WA and they have been proved right. Having said that he was terribly inconsistent and he won't return to the MFC list.
  22. You would think with Melbourne screaming for a target up forward that one has to be tried next week. I wasn't at the game and I know the Sandy midfielders would have served them well but a choice between Newton or Ferguson (we know can take a mark and read the play) and Jamar or Johnson should be a no brainer.
  23. Terrible last quarter. Two man advantage and Sydney are making us look slow.
  24. It's as though the bloke has come in and thought "I am going to nail myself a spot in this team". IMO he has done it in 2 quarters of footy.
  25. Geez! What a read. As long as you're bagging the opposition sounds like everyone over there will agree and slap you on the back. It's a conga line of dunces. If the clowns who are Dees supporters post here they might want to stop embarassing themselves. There would be no point going on there and telling them that the point Paul Gardner was making which they clearly have all misunderstood is that Ben Cousins SHOULD have been caught and HAD he as he might in other sports he would be rubbed out for two years. Go to the video idiots! You know, the thingy the umpires panel should use when reviewing frees they pay to Matthew Lloyd. Now if I have got that wrong I know one of my fellow posters will quickly tell me and I won't have everyone just agree with me.
