There is no reason why a super quick 200cm player with a previously unseen leap can't be a key forward if we choose to use him that way at times. I think he can be the quintessential modern footballer. Tall, athletic, quick, powerful and mobile. Bring him on.

GET YOUR HAND OFF IT DARREL!!!

Before everyone get's stuck into Cale Morton?
btdemon replied to Neita3000's topic in Melbourne Demons
Morton's kicking action has been likened to that of Cameron Bruce. Here lieth the problem. That is to say, the method he uses to bring the ball down to his boot has lots of room for error. His action action requires him to be very deliberate in watching the ball down to his foot. Under pressure, when he doesn't have the time to really concentrate on it, his technique has been shown up and his kicks have looked very loopy and inaccurate. This is probably correctable with lots of practice. The best kicks in the game don't have to think much about it and kicking appears very natural, because they have done it thousands of times from an early age. Jimmy Stynes, Tadgh Kennelly, Sean Wight all kicked in this very deliberate and non-instinctive way, Marty Clarke is better. Chip Frawley is a good example of an unnatural kicking action who hopefully can learn. Morton is better than this and can be very accurate, but I just don't like the way he gets the ball from hand to boot. The fact that i notice it says something about it. The great kicks in the game have no visible or noticeable quirks to their action. -
If a 198cm one paced 18 yr old Irishman can learn the game and go on to win the Brownlow, then I'm sure that a 200cm athletic freak from Fiji can as well. BTW, Jimmy was a brilliant footballer and adapted beautifully to our game. With the attributes that NN possesses we would be crazy to pass him up. Add to that the marketability he brings to the club. I don't care if we also get Warnock. Having too many great ruckman is not a bad thing. Look at the influence Cox, Ottens, Goodes have when surrounded by a decent team. Apart from anything else, it would kill me to see NN running around with another club. Especially Essendon! GET HIM I SAY!!!

Had to begin an anti depression organisation because he caused so much depression during his time in office. Was always a complete d%@k , and will always be. Nuff said.

There's a bloke at work who now says that the Bombers are odds on. It drives me crazy. Naitanui should be ours by rights. And with the gold coast teams coming online it could be our last chance at a drafting coup. Matthew Knights is even getting rid of Pev and Johnson as a means of legally tanking til the end of the year. On the other hand, we played with real spirit against the Dockers and I really fear that we could actually win a few before the end of the year. OMG!!!! Focus, focus!!!

Also, Cox is the captain of both my Dreamteam, and my Supercoach team. So I have an added incentive for the Weagles to do better.

For those Melbourne players and supporters speculating about a possible win against Freo this Sunday I just point again to my opening statement. The Weagles reminded me of the Dees last night and racked up many similar "KPIs". All I can say is FOCUS, FOCUS, FOCUS!!!!!!
-
You would give up Naitanui for Fev???????????
-
We must be careful! We are only one game clear and 12 percentage points clear of the Weagles at the top of the table in the Nicholas Naitanui cup. Its a long season and we must maintain our concentration and "key performance indicators" every week. We must: - continue to kick to opposing forwards at the kick-ins - over possess until we turn the ball over on our backline - if we don't turn it over then come to a stop in the midfield and wait until the opposition man up on our forwards - refuse to chase - kick off on step to a player who is manned up or standing still - do loopy handpasses to teammates that are standing still or under the pump - tackle with soft hands, or even better, one hand, and allow our opponents to break the tackle - make sure that when we kick deep into the forward 50 that there are none of our forwards are there to mark it - fall over at the contest (Robbo does this beatifully) - the junk-time goals are OK but we must be careful here - give away seemingly silly undisciplined frees and 50m penalties It could also be time to drop Aussie Woneamirri and Nathan Jones to Sandringham. We don't want them spoiling our KPIs. We can't afford to get complacent. Our boys need to look each other in the eye, Sydney Swans style, and commit to these goals and each other. As I said already, its a long season. Focus, focus, focus!!!

I felt excited at the Dees performance on Sunday. We seem to be building towards a win. Maybe not next week against North but within the next three weeks. The dilemma is, that I've also seen footage of Naitanui - AWESOME!! I don't want to tank all the way to the end of the season but I really want that guy!!!

I don't think Davey lacks hunger. I think he was still suffering from his rolled ankle. We also know that he played most of last year with a dodgey knee. IMO Davey is our most creative player. He will get back to his best. Half-forward is his best position. It allows him to drop deep and crumb and make creative plays from the midfield.
-
Don't get too excited. He's just jockeying for a handsome contract with the Lions I reckon.
-
Watching Valenti, I think he has the footy brain and the handball speed and accuracy to be a good player for us. Footy history is littered with great players who were considered too slow. Diesel Williams and Sam Mitchell are too who come to mind. James Hird wasn't that quick you know. Whatya reckon?

Not a difficult question to answer in my opinion. One is an absolute goer and if we had 20 of him we would be better off. The other is a sook. Which is which????????????
-
You just keep saying that to yourself.
-
x4 I think we've just got to prepare ourselves for a couple of rough years
-
People talk about how Brock is the answer. What cr@p! So undisciplined and slow. Terrible vision, and his tackles didn't stick once. I'm sick of him. Add Sylvia to that criticism as well. If it wasn't for Junior and Jones there would have been no midfield at all. How many times did we handball to players under pressure? The following players should be dropped: McLean, Sylvia, Davey will not play due to injury. Bring in Rivers, Maric for Davey, Moloney, Petterd and Wheels. Play the Kids, we've got nothing to lose! Newton isn't the answer because he's soft, tries to take speccies all the time and doesn't chase. Play Martin at CHB. Test him out. This season is f*^%d so we might as well experiment and develop kids.
-
I'd love to see him at the Dees, in fact, I'd be prepared give your right nut as well Pipefitter. I'm just a bit attached to my own.
-
Martin is a better prospect here. Still inexperienced but with size and some real mongrel. He delivered a perfect shirtfront on Steve Johnson in the first NAB Cup match. Johnson got up and went on to kick more goals but it showed me something about Martin's attitude.
-
How many times do i have to watch McLean get caught holding the ball? Last year he did the same but we made the excuse that he was coming back from injury>
-
Do you really think TJ would have made any difference? I don't.

I've felt like this before. The opening game and we are rubbish, the year will be a waste again. I was so hopeful. A summer's anticipation dashed in one afternoon of ineptitude. OMG! Its a rebuilding phase. That would be ok if we were coming off a great epoch of success, but this group of players, coaching staff and admin, who are all rubbish, have delivered year after year of disappointment, and I'm sick of it, I tell you! My wife tells me to just come over to Geelong and enjoy some success. She doesn't really understand. Right at the moment I'm a mixture of Eeyore, Dr. Smith and Marvin the manic depressed robot. OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!
