  1. Sorry, you guys are right. I found this article in the Herald Sun and skimmed over it, missing the finer points. http://heraldsun.news.com.au/footy/common/...5E19742,00.html
  2. Looks like the Tigers are pretty interested in Trent Cotchin. He's been training there for the last few weeks. Damn!!!! So much for the "Morton brothers to Tigers , Weagles to pick a local WA lad, leaving the dees to pick up Cotchin" theory. Damn!!! Damn!!!!
  3. Jude Bolton is on the market. He would be great. Tough, smart and big enough to hold down the CHB and allow Rivers to play across the backline. The other one to look at is Henry Playfair. He is big, strong and has great judgment. Geelong originally tried to make him into a key forward, which he wasn't. On the other hand, I have watched him in the VFL and has been great. Go for him or Bolton, I say.
  4. Playfair's game yesterday at CHB (VFL Grand Final), was pretty impressive. Probably his best position. Seems much more comfortable there than up forward. Certainly wotrh a look at. Big, strong, mobile and reasonable judgment.
  5. Davey's vision is as good or even better than TJ's. While not a long kick, I believe his field kicking is the most in the team. When he has the ball deep in the backline or just outside the forward 50 I am always confident it will be to the advantage of the team. He often creates opportunities and movement through the field of play that others haven't seen. His skills are freakish. You don't trade these guys. If he was four inches taller and 12 kgs heavier he would be up there with Judd (Yes, I know. "If my aunt had a ****, then she'd be my uncle".) This year I have seen this new dimension to his game and had the team been going well it would have been more obvious. If he is allowed move movement up and down the ground next year he will be such a valuable asset. As he has gained stamina over the last year or two he has actually become a better allrounder. As as a small forward he is fantastic, but I believe he is wasted there. It restricts his opportunities to create movement and avenues to goal for the team. A role wing/flank which allowed him to drift deep into the back line or forward line would really utilize his brilliant skills and creativity. Trade him? Don't even think about it. he is a gem.
  6. Why would we spend two years developing a ruckman who shows real promise only to delist him when is beginning to hold down the regular No 1 spot at Sandy. I don't get it. I hope Bailey had a really good look at him. Wierd????
  7. I wonder how TJ feels about this question being asked at the coaching interviews?
  8. MFC are going through the process. That process means that they will interview everybody that they think might be a possibility. Hopefully wisdom and foresight will prevail. This is the way it should be. Every time MFC talks to someone, be it Sheedy, Sumich, Bond, McKenna etc. they become the new favorite for the job with the bookies and the media. I really don't think the bookies or media know anything We will not know until they make a final decision.
  9. I made this criticism late last year and I haven't changed my view. Nothing last night changed my view. He is predictable, his kicking is ineffective. He always tries to bust bust tackles and get onto his right foot. His kicking action is restricted, maybe by OP, and this means he doesn't follow through. The result is a kick with with trajectory that floats at the end. it is inaccurate and easy to spoil. The doggies couldn't capitalize on these turnovers last night but many times it has frustrated me in the past. I'm not bagging him, I just don't think he will be the gun engine room player that people seem to think he will be. Whaddya reckon?
  10. Yes, I agree that Brown shouldn't have done that, but his gutsy play throughout the night was one of the reasons we were back in it. Lots of people stuffed up last night. Newton was obvious. Many such as Bate, McLean, Robbo, Sylvia, Bruce made errors which resulted in goals. They did however, back themselves. This is why we worked our way back into the game. Collingwood are no better than us on paper, but they are playing with confidence and backing themselves. We discovered this too late this year. Brown probably won't play too many more games for us, and rightly so, but he but his body on the line at every opportunity last night. Bruce's sht kicking has as much to answer for.
  11. Brock McLean stuffed up at a vital moment last night. That was NO joke. Yes, I think he should be the next captain, but occasionally he tries to do too much and looks slow.
  12. I was never a big fan of Wheatley, but his game on Q's B impressed me. He and Biz policed the backline beautifully and I felt confident when ever he had the ball. His disposal was fantastic and always worked to our advantage upfield. There seems to be a new rhythm to our defence which was missing earlier in the year. Maybe these two being back is the key?
  13. As much as I'd like to believe it, I thinks its rubbish and the ferrari metaphor is stupid. This writer doesn't really know the Demons. IMO we should improve marginally on last year. Whether it is enough, only time will tell. Players like Bate, Dunne and Sylvia are developing and maturing. Others, like Robbo and Green, played with injuries and should be much more effective this year. On the other hand, Neita and Yze are older and will probably be slightly less effective. The trouble is, the opposition will improve this year and the comp should be more even. I think there will be less easy games, less gimmes, so finishing high up will take real consistency. As shown in the last couple of years, the team left standing in September will be the one that manages its injuries and hits form at the right time. Having champions helps too. WCE look good. Aside from all that, I'm really excited and can't wait till the fair dinkum stuff begins in a few weeks. GO DEES! PS. I hate the NAB cup and Telstra Dome and will hold my breath until its over.
  14. In fact i don't know why they bother!
  15. The official MFC website is generally a very unsatisfying experience. Outdated info, no decent injury reports or progress, and few genuine insights in to footy. The sort of stuff us footy tragics crave is rarely there. I seldom bother with it.
  16. My favourite Robbie Flower game was actually the game when Jacko did the famous donkey kick, which was histerical. It was at Princes Park, I think it was about 1981?? What was more memorable for me that day was Flower's game on the wing and think his opponent may have been Rodney Eade, but I'm not sure. I can remember time and time again Kelvin Moore kicking out from full back only to see Flower beat his opponent one on one time and time again and deliver the ball back into the forward line. It was the classic old school wingman against wingman battle and Flower put all his tricks, skill and grace on display. At one stage he was about to be tackled and placed the ball on the ground, danced around his opponent and then scooped it up with one hand to send it back into the forward line. He had many battles like this against some great wingmen. Stan Alves, Keith Greig, Ricky Bahram etc. Ah those were the days! The only problem was, the rest of the team were pretty useless so we din't win that many. Oh well, it was fun to watch Flower. I think that is one reason he is so fondly remembered. We had litle else to enjoy but, "Gee Robbie played well today."
