Drop a player but name him as an emergency
Young Dee replied to ashdemons22's topic in Melbourne Demons
So we are going to sack a coach to keep a player that fails to show desire for the footy? -
Game of Thrones = Oblivion (elder scrolls) tv show - enough said!
-
Is it time to tell Watts that he will no longer get games because he has potential or is a No.1 pick? I think our main problem is aggression/desire and if we continue to gift games to players like Watts then we will never fix that problem. Send him to Casey until he shows/finds some aggression.

Why don't you just start a 'please abuse me' thread - it will be easier for everyone! -
Ha - I saw that coming before I opened the thread (I love Game of Thrones!)

Positive: Free agency We need a star or a very good player (midfielder). Someone that would lead us when the chips are down. Through money at players - wish Marc Murphy/Dangerfield was on the free agency list

Would rather not make a lot of changes but it needs to be done - we have to reward the players who show commitment/aggression. I can't see Gawn rucking by himself so Jamar may have to stay in. As for Watts - cant bring him in this week or we have made no statement at all. If I was coach I would say it is time to make or break Watts - put him in Casey until he can string together at least two games where he shows GENUINE DESIRE and AGGRESSION! Out: Jamar Toumpas (3 touches) Pederson (8 touches) Sellar (had no presence) and anyone else who did not show commitment/aggression/confidence In: Gawn/Spencer (Gawn if fit) Kent (earned a call up - provides run/carry) Strauss (give him a go - would have liked him to show consistent form at Casey) McKenzie (need his aggression/devotion) Dunn (for Sellar if fit)

Yes I just think a team needs a spark player like Jurrah, most teams have them - Buddy at Hawks and Nic Nat at WCE I think players like this just create such a vibe, not only for the supporters but also the players. They make the hairs stand up on the back of your neck or make you jump out of your seat at the MCG roaring. Its hard to judge just how much of a motivator it would be for the players. I for one think those kind of players stimulate the crowd and the crowed stimulates the players. A player like Jurrah would have been very handy early in the third quarter just as a motivator to keep the players fighting - maybe through bursting through the center and kicking a goal from 50m just when WCE were slipping away (20-35 points). I guess we just lack a star (Ablett)

Anyway I would definitely go Magner ahead of Couch. To me Couch is a waste of space on the list - should have been used on a young rookie with greater potential to improve. (Stark and Clisby)

Wow feels like Davey has been around for ever

Next Week Will Determine Supporter Good Will

For me it was not as important as today's game. If we lose yes the talk will continue but if we thrash them it means little. Do some want to see us lose? (in the hope that Neeld will be sacked) - serious question -
a) He is not ready for AFL yet as we all know b - The kids an outside midfielder and right now our team just does not provide an opportunity for an outside mid - every possession we get seems to be under pressure and we lack spread
-
Ins: Kent - I actually think he will have a big impact on the midfield Gawn/Spencer: a real ruckman (Gawn if ready) Strauss: does he warrent a go and if so who for? Magner: once Nicho has an accident falling down a flight of stairs?
-
Oh and I forgot spread - it was actually there in the first half! If some have forgotten after watching the second half - watch it again. We spread and used it to create chains of possession instead of bombing it long to a pack (my pet hate)
-
The first half today made me think that most of the talent is there, it's just a matter of harnessing it. AGGRESSION, DEVOTION and CONFIDENCE that's what we need. Reward the players that show this and drop the ones that don't - the culture has to change (our form will follow)
-
Its a glass half full and a glass half empty debate. No doubt our team is mentally weak but I think it is a positive in that we know what the problem is and it is fixable. If we were to play with that aggression and devotion for 4 quarters we are a different team - there is no certainty that it will happen but once we can fix that we are halfway there.
-
Yes - I forgot Bail. Until that head knock I was loving his desire and speed
-
Exactly - the first half was great and I think some would benefit from watching it again. The devotion was there and for 2 quarters - last week it was 15min. If we play with that devotion every game for 4 quarters we will challenge every team (that's a positive)
-
Ok so we lost ...........again (no surprise) I though the first half of the game was great - we played like a different team. Once everyone calms down we can begin panning for the positives. Our only problem is when things go against us (frees and a small margin) the team drop their heads. Clark: is a god (wish I did not remove from dream team) Sylvia: has potential to be a god N Jones: A true fighter M Jones: Looked like a 100 gamer Terlich: I will admit I thought he would never fit in to the team (again played like a 100 gamer) Tappscot: thought he showed a bit early (like a chappy role - wish they put him in the mid) Davey: thought he was dead - showed a lot early (just feel we have lost those exciting/motivating players - Jurrah and Wonna) Trengove - moved freely for the first time in ages (he just has to build fitness and then can help Grimes and Jones) Spread (first half) What else?
-
Lets assess Jamar after we hear the results from the Casey game (Spencer and Gawn) I have to admit Jamar held his own in the ruck but is useless around the ground Would love to have Gawn back but just don't rush him - if he goes down again what have we got left in the ruck stocks? Maybe we could bring Gawn back as a FF with stints in the ruck (but I do doubt Gawn as a FF)
-
If we can't find a GREAT coach - can we use two experienced coaches? Has this ever worked before? Do you need a totalitarian coach?
-
Brett Ratten and another experienced coach please. I like the way Ratten goes about footy - had a fast flowing/exciting - but disciplined game style at Carlton
-
We NEED MAGNER - just put anyone on the LTI list. I know he is not the classiest player but he will put in 100% no matter what the score. Right through the Nab cup and Casey games he has been a standout. He knows how to find the footy (shown by his 30+ touches in the last 2 casey games) and he will put his body on the line. It all starts with the center bounce!
-
Have said this multiple times this season from round one - only to be attacked. It is clear he is not ready for AFL - He needs to be at Casey where he can learn to back himself and find his inner aggression. The pace of AFL is just to quick for him we saw it with players like Watts and Morton
