AFL "Smart" TV - says I'm not in Australia WTF??
Young Dee replied to Hatchman's topic in Melbourne Demons
Try using another computer or ipad. Well the MFC have a video with all 12 goals of the final term - better than nothing. http://www.melbournefc.com.au/video/2013-04-23/12-goal-quarter -
I think we are more inexperienced than those figures suggest. I think if you really want to answer the question you have to consider whether you regard Byrnes, Rodan, Dawes etc. as experienced. Yes they have experience playing football for other clubs but what value (experience) do they give us? These players have played less games at Melbourne most of the list so they have little experience when it comes to playing at Melbourne - they do not have superior knowledge of our gameplan, culture, team strengths/knowledge). I only consider a handful of players as valuable experienced players: Nathan Jones, Colin Sylvia, Jamar, Davey. What is the value of a player such as Rodan when compared to a experienced Melbourne player (Nathan Jones)?

The difference between a pick #4 & pick #48

This was like his first Casey game where he was not in the bests? So I would say current form is very good! -
I really strongly believe if we are to improve Neeld needs to get some consistency to the side. He can not keep moving players around - we need consistency to help the players build confidence and focus their skills/development on a specific role. Tappy might be handy to have down back but I think we need to look to the future - I see Tapscotts greatest potential as playing in a Chappy/Sylvia role. I think the same needs to be applied with other players such as Watts - Neeld needs to decided where he sees Watts role in the future and then put him in that spot permanently (whether that's up forward/back/wing for Casey or Melbourne). I have heard so many times that Neeld is always clear about what he expects/wants - it's time to prove it - give every player at the club a role/position (like Colingwood). Therefore they know exactly what they need to work/focus on and we can develop quicker.

As much as I want to see him in the side, I like the fact that the club are for once not throwing him into the deep end. I think to many of our young players have been thrown into AFL to early and also not given breaks for recovery (Watts, Morton, Gysberts, Toumpas etc.). There may also be another reason because I have heard from MFC reports that he needs to work on his defensive game and I think that's why he had fewer possessions on the weekend. I think he is fighting for a similar position as Blease and both have been criticised for their defensive work. Really excited about this kid and just want the club to do what ever is best long term - we can't let our current draftees turn into basket cases like the past ones! -

Same happened to me but keep persisting (refreshing) - it eventually works. Or as Demon Disicple mentioned you can access it another way. -
Western Bulldogs.. Hang on a Minute..!
Young Dee replied to dazzledavey36's topic in Melbourne Demons
Because they are playing at the standard that was expected of them this year. Everyone coming into the year (even bulldog supporters) thought that the Bulldogs would have a terrible year. The first round was a surprise but now they are back to playing the way everyone expected at the start of the year. The difference with us is people expected improvement from us (especially going into the 2012 season) - we have had the talent/draft picks but have not used them. They have every right to criticise us for we seem to be the only team in the league that does not show consistent form and can not perform to the standard that our list should. -
At one point in the 4th quarter he just kept attacking - was the only one, surrounded by GWS players but he just kept throwing himself at them. Would have made 4 tackles in as many seconds - that was one of the highlights of the game for me. We need more players to do the second, third and even fourth efforts. Anyone else see that - for some reason the commentators missed it?
-
First of all his VFL form has been very good (it is a tough job getting in the bests being a backman) and second, he needs to be given a go at seniors to prove himself or would you rather just continue to gift games to Jack watts or bring in Nicho who who has had multiple chances and we all know that he does not have the skills to play in a good side.
-
I think if we really want to improve we need to find some consistency in team selection/roles - we need to keep Garland and others in their positions so our team can grow in confidence. I think Sellar has shown enough to warrant being used as a forward but would rather Dunn. Watts is really the one that should be going forward (as he is yet to really find a role) - could maybe be replaced by Dunn down back.
-
Dunn should be right by now so: Out: Clark, Jetta and Viney (if injured or needs rest) IN: Dunn, Mckenzie and Strauss or Spencer (probably to many talls but he deserves a chance) I think a few have forgotten how hand Dunn is. Would like to have Blease come in but I think he is in a similar boat as Watts and needs to show consistent good form at Casey (3-4 weeks) Would also like to see Kent come in but according to reports his form on the weekend does not warrant it (and can't let one sided players in the team now - no defense).

AFL "Smart" TV - says I'm not in Australia WTF??
Young Dee replied to Hatchman's topic in Melbourne Demons
Interesting forum I found on watching AFL games live on computer: http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/archive/1411796 It seems some have been able to use the overseas AFL season pass to watch games live even though they are not overseas. Although I warn it does seem a little technical but one can get all games live on computer it would be worth it. Watching games on the small phone screen with poor resolution is unbearable. Anyone tried this? -
Jack Watts threads are now becoming a joke - nothing has changed in the last 4 years. Some say he has great talent and will harness it eventually others say he is to soft and will never harness it ...etc....etc It's like a broken record! Soon we will have to start a thread called "The No JW No BS Thread"!

Thanks mate - I have the same issue but neither link works (still say I am overseas) - only wanted to watch the 4th quarter! I did think of an idea though when that did appear - you can buy season passes for people outside Australia ($120) and it enables you to watch all AFL games live. It seems to be the same as the mobile AFL app pass BUT you can watch the games on a desktop! (I might try a $14 weekly pass) and see if I can watch the games on my computer - it might think I am overseas! Watching games on the desktop/laptop would be much better than the small phone -
I have said it before - I think much of our future will be determined on our senior players such as Jones, Syliva, Byrnes and Davey. If they can lift and lead by example the whole team will lift and show passion and desire like in the last quarter. Neeld needs to find some way of getting the senior players fired up!
-
Don't be sexist - It would be tough being the only female ump and she probably did not want to make the wrong decision However I did find that her positioning in front of the post when Byrnes slide in was questionable. I know they need to have a good view of the line but couldn't she get behind the post or on the other side of the post - we have already had one injured umpire recently and fans would have been very angry if she got in the way of a goal. She might have just been caught of guard though it was unexpected.
-
So either there is something behind the words or he is just sick to death of the media constantly trying to put out our fire? - (probably the second one)
-
I strongly disagree - we should not be giving games to players on the basis of 'potential'. Players should have to earn their spots and I think this is probably partly the reason for our poor culture. Neeld has two options: 1. send him to Casey until he can show consistent good form for 3-4 weeks (with aggression) or 2. Keep him in AFL for 4-5 weeks in the hope that he shows some form He should not be coming in and out of the side. I would go with sending him to Casey - show him that he needs to change his attitude/performance
-
I think the HS is wrong the coaching staff did not get involved (judging by the two videos of the team songs on the MFC website). And I am very happy the staff did not get involved. We won one game (had only one good quarter), I don't want the players or coaches thinking that they have achieved anything special. Yes I want the players to grow in confidence but don't want a false sense of security (beating a side with less experience). The players will have to regroup and hopefully put in at least a 3 quarter effort against the Lions.
-
Just loved when he and Sylvia link up - happened a couple times out of the center. If there is one person that can inspire/teach Sylvia to play to his full potential it is Jones. I just wish he could take all the players under his wing (like a mother hen - should be captain!) .. imagine a Viney, Sylvia and Watts training with the intent of Jones.
-
Maybe we could blame Frawley's poor form on Watts - they do seem to be very close now ....... maybe Watts softness is contagious!
-
Liked this part of an AFL article - shows that Neeld is devoted whether it shows or not: Neeld enjoyed the second round of the theme song sung behind closed doors among staff and players. It was just the fifth time he had heard it as coach, with three wins coming against GWS. They are not out of the hole but they have shown they can dig deep. For now that was enough to put a smile back on a few people's faces as the song rang through the rooms for a second time. Momentarily anyway. "I then had to remind the assistant coaches that Brisbane were playing North Melbourne at Etihad, so get in your cars and get there because we've got them (the Lions) next week," Neeld said.
-
Have to give credit to the senior players in Sylvia, Jones, Byrnes etc that lead the way for the younger blokes today.
-
Exactly - It's a glass half full/glass half empty situation. You can look at it and say - its a worry that we have not been performing to the best of our ability or you can see it as an opportunity - we can play better!
-
Really hope Clark is not injured but if so got to bring in Dawes. Clark out (if injured) - in Dawes Watts out - in Dunn Out Jetta (suspension) - in Blease We lacked spread soooooooooo badly in the first 3 qtrs (GWS really showed us up) Try and make few changes and give the boys a chance to back up the 4th qrt performance
