  1. That would have to work both ways as there could be other VFL clubs handier to his home. However, if he's really dedicated to playing for his father's club, he should go for it. It won't be the first time that someone has proved the judges wrong.
  2. Zero Hanger has their second edition of the AFL Mock Draft - 2024 AFL Mock Draft: Picks 1-27 (second edition) They’ve got Melbourne down for Jagga Smith and Harry Armstrong.
  3. So essentially - our position is that we’re not prepared to draft him onto the primary list but could consider doing so for the rookie list if he’s not drafted in the main draft.
  4. I’m guessing this leaves an opening for the club to say goodbye to one more player on the senior list?
  5. Astonishing that we’re still none the wiser about this anomaly.
  6. It’s on the 4th October which is the Friday night after the Grand Final. Venues for a function of this size need to be booked months in advance. Imagine the [censored] up if the b & f was held in September if the club was playing in the grand final. It seems to me that nothing would satisfy some people.
  7. An upgrade on Tom Fullarton?
  8. The problem is I think that Port’s demands are well over the top. Especially if the one about Heuston for ANB plus 6 is what they want. His manager probably got a better offer anyway because it’s a limited market and not every club in Victoria will have a need for Heuston or the draft picks available to get him.
  9. Bravo on a tongue in cheek preview. After this week’s drama, it was much needed. Everyone in the football world and especially the media needs to take a good deep breath and get a reality check.
  10. Tonight’s game is on …
  11. This is Melbourne’s first crack against one of last year’s Grand Finalists. To everyone’s surprise, both Collingwood and Brisbane aren’t in the top eight at the moment and the signs aren’t promising for either of them. The Lions have struggled to win games at the MCG of late. They had a great record at home last year but this year, they can’t even win at the Gabba. There’s not much comfort in beating North Melbourne on neutral territory at Norwood Oval in Adelaide on a ground that has dimensions of 165m x 110m compared with the MCG’s 173.6m x 148.4m. Fagan reckons they got their energy back but I would argue that it doesn’t take much energy to play against a bunch of kids on a postage stamp sized footy ground. That’s where the Lions will hit a wall on Thursday night. The Demons are in great form, their team defence is elite and the midfield is pretty flash too. Brisbane will find it tough adapting to playing on the wide wings at the best stadium in the country against one of the most focused teams in the country. Melbourne will take the game and go into the break with the four points.
  12. With the current state of the club’s injury list, I think consideration should be given to the field of players out there in the state league competitions to cover potential gaps in our lineup in the event of ongoing issues. The one clear area where the Demons seem to have a vacancy is a ready made big man to cover the rucks if Max Gawn is injured or simply needs a rest for a week.
  13. Let’s see how Port get through today’s game against the Tigers.
  14. 6. Jack Viney 5. Angus Brayshaw 4. Christian Petracca 3. Clayton Oliver 2. Bayley Fritsch 1. Judd McVee
  15. They are much better now than when we played them the first time this year.
  16. Collingwood hasn’t really had a tough game since it beat Adelaide on 30th April. Last week it was a training run against North Melbourne and today, likewise vs West Coast (they’re 7 goals up halfway through the second quarter). They are ripe for a defeat in the very near future with or without de Goey.
  17. Wishing James Harmes all the best with his personal leave. Hope to see you back soon Harmesy!
  18. At the Southport Magistrates Court today, Mac Andrew was fined $1,000.00 and disqualified for six months, having already been off the roads for three weeks. That’s on top of the sanctions applied by the Gold Coast Suns. An expensive, but necessary, lesson. Hope he learns from it.
  19. I should hope that some of us would have realised exactly what was happening and called it out.
  20. Oliver Sestan played 99 games for the Canterbury Cobras JFC in the Yarra Valley Junior Football League.
  21. Geebus - the way we’re going, the only player at the club left whose fast will be Oskar Baker
