A Day at the Races
The TAB comments on the Melbourne Cup runners from today make for interesting reading especially on the part of the fancied runners. A Day at the Races
Enable became the first Arc winner to salute in the Breeders’ Cup overnight. One serious racehorse, would love to see her race here.

I’m cheering for Magic Circle just to see Marwan Koukash parade around in a G-String like he promised should the horse win. One has to enjoy these colourful characters. Seriously tough field.

No good Wadda, held up and the jockey decided to try and find room on the outside. The eventual winner ‘ Shillelagh’ got the magical run through the inside for a very good win. Funnily enough that run could have been gained by Amphitrite if the jock didn’t leave the rails.

Yes Wadda, you will be seeing it soon in Naples.

Oh come on! The photo finish power has gone out.....there are plenty of IPhones on the track that can substitute.

I’m enjoying the Channel 7 telecast mainly due to ‘ Cesca’ Cumani. Then, day ruined when they interviewed Dyson Heppell. Melbourne Cup hopefuls in the next.

Nothing tonight Macca. I was told at work today to look out for Flemington Race 1 Number 4 Quackerjack tomorrow. Decent odds of around $14. Barrier could be tricky though but it’s worth a small each way bet to set up the day should it salute.

Great day coming up Macca. I read in an article the other day 5 of the 9 favourites in early betting for Derby Day are NSW raiders. DK Weir says bring it on. The Best Bet will be a tricky proposition this week. I’m leaning towards Amphitrite again in a tough race. Dean Yendall is the light weight specialist.

Agree Macca, it was a very good win. I liked the way the jockey just pushed through the field from the jump and led them up. Interesting to see where they go from here, trainer said sometimes with four year old geldings you just have to go through the grades. Wait and see I guess although I’d love the horse to get a win for mate in town. It’s been a while for them.

EL sets a new track record (57.27) at Sale. A bit short in price for my liking but pleased to see the horse get a win. It probably didn’t want another 50 metres as the second runner was closing hard. Understandable though after running a quick time. Dan Zephyr received a mention by the trainer in the post-race interview. That was a pleasant surprise, the Zeph is still in people’s thoughts.

A Day at the Races
G’day Macca. There’s a strong chance the horse will be scratched tomorrow. They will go like last week’s pay in this 955m dash and being drawn in the middle might present some difficulties in terms of where to settle the horse. Not an ideal first-up race. Too much pressure I believe. ‘El’ has also accepted at Sale in the last race on Sunday. This presents a better first-up assignment, less pressure and a bigger track. Prize money is obviously much better tomorrow night but the aim is to have him firing for the whole campaign. Edit: They weren’t expecting to make the Moonee Valley field with the low rating but when they did it would’ve generated some strong discussion for the best and most logical option.
