He's slow at the start of the game, nothing to do with fitness.

Neeld is working with the same talent and you want him sacked.

Garland is playing ten times better than he ever has.

The pressure of captaincy aside, his lack of pace is that bad now that I cannot see him playing at AFL level. Leading out from the goal square he was trailing his opponent by five metres who took an uncontested mark. I've banged on about this a lot, but I just can't see where he goes to from here. Maybe he needs an extended spell in the VFL just to get some touch back?

Umpiring has been horrible, if I was a Blues fan I'd be livid.

Why would Dunn stand behind Judd at a centre bounce? Absolutely stupid.

Luke Tapscott, well done, love the effort.

Bailey used to word "rebuild" to try and buy some time and it didn't work. Now Neeld is doing the same thing.

Geelong are such a great club
Straight Sets Simon replied to Mongrel Dee's topic in Melbourne Demons
A lot of what Geelong do isn't difficult, run hard and fast with the ball, run hard and fast without the ball and talk to each other. Somehow Melbourne can't manage that. -
Yes, I am being over-the-top but I can't think of a midfielder currently playing who is as slow as he is in every aspect. Even McLean is faster than Trengove over 20 metres these days.

Is that the game Barry P. didn't bother watching?

Welcome to Demonland ... PETER JACKSON
Straight Sets Simon replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
I find it interesting that a lot of Daniher cheerleaders are blaming Neeld when in the past they simply criticised the players and stuck up for the coach. -
If Trengove wasn't the slowest player in history (in every aspect) he would be very good. That top ten overall is fairly average, that's the problem with selecting 17 year old players. The sooner the AFL increase the drafting age the better.

Rubbish, our losing margin just went down.

There are players who simply can't kick because they have flawed actions (Scully and Tom McDonald), but I believe a lot of the time good skills come about because of who or what a player is kicking to. For example, Melbourne players don't work hard for each other. They are often flat-footed and don't work into space, therefore teammates are often forced to kick the ball to a player under pressure, or they are kicking to where the player is, not where he will be .

28 half-hearted chases and refusals to run hard and apply pressure. "Pressure Acts" is a very generous term.
-
If that's the case it's even worse because the players are so loose on their opponents it looks like a zone.

My 3 word player analysis V Brisbane
Straight Sets Simon replied to joeboy's topic in Melbourne Demons
I've missed your analysis, joeboy. For what it's worth I think you are pretty much spot on with your assessment. -
No, a lot of his "chases" were half-hearted efforts, he just cannot be bothered working hard.

I wouldn't be surprised if Nicholson is brought in to play as a small defender.
-
Poor Jack had to chase, welcome to the AFL. He was pathetically lazy in the first half. I agree Tom McDonald should be dropped, most overrated player on the list at the moment.

Demonland Player of the Year - Round 5
Straight Sets Simon replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
Watts kicked a couple of goals and looked better forward, but he was so bloody lazy today, refused to run and chase again and again. Imagine if he was playing under Joel Selwood and put in the efforts he did today, none of his teammates would even talk to him. How anyone can give him votes is beyond me. 6. Garland 5. Sylvia 4. Bail 3. Byrnes 2. Gawn 1. Grimes EDIT: Notable mention to the umpires who gave Melbourne the rub of the green.
