GOODBYE MITCH CLARK
Straight Sets Simon replied to The Song Formerly Known As's topic in Melbourne Demons
But if Clark nominates Geelong (for example) then Geelong can just offer Melbourne their last pick and say take it or leave it becuase as was agreed Clark is being delisted by Melbourne, after which he is a Free Agent and can join any team he likes for free. -
GOODBYE MITCH CLARK
Straight Sets Simon replied to The Song Formerly Known As's topic in Melbourne Demons
This has probably been covered but can Clark be a Delisted Free Agent if a trade cannot be found (assuming Melbourne will delist him as has been agreed)? If so any bargaining power Melbourne has is out the window. -
The problem with asking managers at this time of year is that they don't always know if players will be traded, it's up to the clubs to trade the players. I remember hearing Bernie Vince's manager deny he would be traded then a week later he was at Melbourne. Either the manager was lying or he just didn't know it would happen.

Anyone who can put up with listening to Trade Radio has my utmost respect.

2014 GRAND FINAL GAME DAY
Straight Sets Simon replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in Melbourne Demons
So you're saying that Watts, Trengove, Toumpas, Blease, Tapscott, Strauss, Cook, Maric and Gysberts would all be stars if they were developed at Hawthorn, yet Hodge, Franklin, Roughead, Lewis, Rioli and Mitchell would be duds at Melbourne? -

That's true, but those players would be nothing without the higher draft pick stars around them. -
I still think he should have been playing instead of Rohan.

They would have developed just fine because they are stars. -

Yes, but those high draft picks have formed the core of their success. -
If Melbourne didn't stuff up our top draft picks we'd be playing finals.

GRAND FINAL-WHO ARE YOU GOING FOR?
Straight Sets Simon replied to Bobby McKenzie's topic in Melbourne Demons
Put a couple of stars in our team and watch how quickly things turn around. -
Like how Essendon were on top from 1999 to 2001, Brisbane and Port from 2001 until 2004, West Coast and Sydney in 2005 and 2006, Geelong from 2007 until 2011. All of these were before free agency.

Collingwood and St Kilda played in the 2010 grand final but both missed finals this year. It's not that bad.

Lake is the only player Hawthorn have got from free agency. The difference between Hawthorn and Melbourne is their high draft picks have been stars. -

Gary Rohan wouldn't get a game at Melbourne. Why they left Mitchell playing reserves I will never know. -

Grand Finals are decided by goal kicking accuracy. Gunston will want to lift his game.
