It's very exciting see all the young players, just as it was the last five rebuilds. -

McLean is the only player who was worthy of the number 5. -
I wasn't able to attend the Fremantle game in 2008 where we had a massive comeback, but if I did I can guarantee I would have left at halftime.

Should Demonland embrace the Women's Game?

I'm all for it so long as they don't introduce too many teams and dilute the talent too much. One team per state would be perfect. -

Melbourne Football Club Training - November, 2015

The problem with his training reports was that you weren't allowed to have an opinion of a player if you weren't at training, even if that player had played over 100 games. -
2015 Player Review - # 37 Aaron vandenBerg (R)
Straight Sets Simon replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
He started training late because he was a rookie selection, plus he was coming off shoulder surgery and if he didn't get injured during the year he was good enough to play all 22 games. Gun. -
In 2006 some people from Demonology and Demonland orgnaised to watch a round 22 game against Adelaide at the Leighoak as it was on Foxtel. There was also a Sandringham game on before it so we could do the double. Melbourne got thrashed and I met some very strange people.

You can if you are continually looking for the wrong type of player. Which top picks from 2007 to 2012 would now be stars if recruited by other clubs?
-
You could, but I don't believe that.
-
The fact that they were probably so smug about getting pick 25 for Melksham only for us to then get pick 3 makes it even better.
-
But would Gysberts, Morton, Cook, Maric, Watts, Tapscott, Strauss and Blease be any better at other clubs? We know Maric, Gysberts, Morton and Blease weren't and we will soon find out with Toumpas. Of course development needed to improve, but having said that I believe a lot of development comes from playing with better players and leaders. Hannebery had the likes of Goodes, O'Keefe, Bolton, Kennedy and Jack to take the brunt of the workload while he could develop. I still stand by my 90/10 split.
-
I've always said that Melbourne's problems in the recent past have been 90% drafting and 10% development, that is the 10% I refer to.
-
Who cares? That can be taught, talent can't be taught.

I was thinking about this the other day and I can't think of many leagues besides the AFL and American leagues that have a draft system. The difference between the AFL and the American leagues is that in America most players are recruited from the college system. This means that the players drafted there are not only older and more mature, but they have also ahve more exposed form in the college system. Therefore, the AFL is unique in that we are drafting players at such a young age which certainly adds more of a "lottery" element to the whole process.

Jake Carlisle potentially could have a serious drug problem and the AFLPA told his management to sweep it under the carpet instead of addressing the issue and helping the player.
-
The AFLPA failed to look after the welfare of the player in this instance.
