Satyriconhome replied to Caligula's Cohort!'s topic in Melbourne Demons
I had a chat to Jayden before Xmas, asked him what it was like to be able to play again, said his skills were rusty and his kicking needed a bit of work, spoke to recruiting team when he was drafted and they liked his neat skills and speed -

Re Hunt, as a footballer, he has what is called 'neat skills', ie clean hands, accurate kicking, injury issue has been stress fractures in his back, he couldn't do a lot of weight training, once he was injury free at the end of last season he was put on a intensive program to give him some size, I was shocked when I saw him at the start of the preseason -- he still looks facially like a 12 yr old schoolboy but now he has a solid AFL body which will allow him to compete, the coaches think there is still a lot of potential and improvement, so have given him a 1yr contract to see what eventuates -
WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - CLAYTON OLIVER
Satyriconhome replied to Freddy Fuschia's topic in Melbourne Demons
Haven't been reading for a while so catch up with posts, I have spoken to the players about this season, everybody has been told there are no guarantees whether your name is Nathan Jones or Clayton Oliver, over the pre season and NAB cup games, you have to grab your chance, the 22 picked for game 1 will be the fittest and in form, no more players carrying injuries or getting games on reputation, if Oliver looks good enough he will get a game -

I never offer an opinion on the ability or lack thereof of any players, in some instances it can come back and bite you, we have given Kennedy a shot, lets see if it works, that being said we helped Jimmy Toumpas to nearly kill off his career -

Difference between them, Toumpas' career had stalled at MFC, Port see something in him and hope to develop him further, Kennedy's career had stalled at Collingwood and MFC have seen something in him and hope to develop him further -

I watched Kennedy both at training for MFC and a couple of games in the VFL for the Pies, can see why we were interested -

I was watching training a couple of weeks ago, and the new boys were told to put some real effort into their tackiing, poor old Mitch King was buried by Mr Hulett, also believe the boys try not to box with him -

As far as I can gather the Dawes issue is still the calf, that has been troubling him since he joined the club, it is not a new injury, reckon if it doesn't fix itself up this time, he may have to walk away -
Cryptic Message on MFC Social Media - New MFC Logo
Satyriconhome replied to Good Times Grimes's topic in Melbourne Demons
Yes, be grateful for the one we got, some of the ideas were 'horrendous', there was one suggestion that made the CS design look simple -
Cryptic Message on MFC Social Media - New MFC Logo
Satyriconhome replied to Good Times Grimes's topic in Melbourne Demons
There was also a cross section of members and supporters who attended a workshop where various ideas on a new logo were put to them and discussed -

Because of his ongoing knee issues last year, his fitness base dropped, so he has had to rehab and rehab as above -

Satyriconhome replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in Melbourne Demons
WW great report, re the question, Misson has had his 3 years and now has a regimen in place, if you have a niggle you rehab until you can join in everything, where the emphasis is now on skills, hence Bernie Vince doing lap after lap and Brayshaw's 4 weeks in rehab -
I see this place hasn't changed, Roos made mention of the finger injury, underdone being the boxing side of Garlett's fitness, he was participating in the first week or two of running without an issue, he is built like a stick so boxing is an important part of his fitness regime, I asked

I had a really good chat to Jason Taylor about him, first picked him up at under 14 level and have been keeping tabs on him, because of his physique, felt that the missing year would not be a problem, had a couple of games at the end of this season and showed no ill effects and the same attributes he showed at under 16s, so picking him up was not an issue, scares a few of the boys in the boxing ring so I am told......Roos is also a big fan -

To all, no the hair and beard at the last training before Xmas was a little joke with Brendan McCartney, work at a fun place now, colour the old ash blonde now and again, forgot I had it in one day and went to training, the players 'loved' it of course, McCartney asked me to colour it and the beard for last training session, and why not Other observations from training to keep thread on track, the reporting of even the slightest twinge has gone to another level again, Nev Jetta felt a bit of a pinch in his hip flexor about 15 minutes into a session and that was it, told to go back inside and get it looked at, next week or so in rehab. Reason Dom Tyson is still rehabbing, had a bit of an issue over the break and into first couple of weeks of training, so has to catch up before he gets back in main group, also his engine still needs a bit of work The reason Nathan Jones did so well in 3k was he was told to improve his running ability, so not just the kids being put on notice, and with the neck injury it was the opportunity to work on it, he is also another that has 'slimmed down' Hunt would also be a good pick for a smokey, although Mitch White has every intention of banging the door down as well, as seen by the 3km last week, Max King if he keeps up his consistency could be another -

As it is a training thread, after speaking to the coaches and the players, and in line with Jack Viney's recent comments, everybody seems to be finally on the same page, the focus at training is sharper, the communication is clearer etc etc, McCartney has gone to another level this year (the players love him), you can see the development happening in front of your eyes Another comment from the players, we have 40+players on the list, whoever is fit and in form will play and they all want to accept the challenge And if Hulett can play in a game as good as he shows at training, he is my pick for the smokey this year, he is super aggressive and has the size already to go with it Other good signs Hunt and Kent basically doing every session, like having 2 new extra recruits, one bit from training a week or so back, Ben Kennedy who is renowned for his speed tried to burn Hunt off, Hunt had him in about 10 metres -

THE SAGA CONTINUES - WADA APPEALS

He could also be one of the players who actually refused to take part in the program, when asked he plays a straight bat, which he has to to protect the identity of the 34, he wasn't getting games when Hird was in charge, could be one of the reasons why, and he/we won't be impacted by the decision at all -

Some of the pics are excellent, difficult to catch somebody airborne -
Not exactly back, thought I would add a bit of context, from what I have observed at the training I have attended, most of what is written in the reports on the club website is pretty accurate, stand out for me by a mile this year is Kent May post a couple things going forward, but no training reports

I spoke to Jeff about this, he had a finger injury and couldn't get as much boxing in as he usually does during the break, so his overall fitness dropped a bit, nothing more than that

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - JIMMY TOUMPAS
Satyriconhome replied to Demanding Success's topic in Melbourne Demons
My quote won't work so agree with Redleg, reason I go into hibernation for a couple of months and don't post, nothing but page after page of bleugh!!!!!!! ....agree Wines is looking the goods but he is playing in a bloody good midfield, and Boak is the one with the hard tag, if you look at Tyson's stats he has the same numbers but the media forget he has only played 30 odd games, they don't count him as being in his 'second' year........... let's get another year into Toumpas, Tyson, Viney, Salem et al.....Redleg, humble pie is a wonderful meal for some on here -
Oh dear, posters on Demonland complaining about poor taste, can't have been on here for long Maybe Terlich made a mistake, but he didn't kill anyone, move on, worse than the media some of the self righteousness being displayed here If we had a female team and one of the players went dressed in very little, most of the male posters on here would be cheering from the sidelines As for Harris himself, unfortunately these days, you can't be the dirty old uncle with the wandering hands after a bit to drink
