  6. I always like to take a few Cups chances early doors, and put the tickets on the fridge with the magnet. I love the early odds you can get as compared to raceday. Plus it gives you a few to follow through the various lead up races. I always follow Lloyd and never leave out a few of his. He knows what hes doing and his whole stable aims at the Melbourne Cup. I used to live not far from Macedon, and quite often the strappers and other staff from the lodge, have been known to frequent the local establishments in early November and are never shy about their thoughts on the big race. One year the entire pub was on Green Moon! I see that Cross Counter was 4th in the 2800m Irish St Ledger, with the Williams owned Master of Reality a short head away 5th in the race, won by Irish trainer Dermot Welds 3 year old Galileo filly Search for a Song, who got all the weight allowances and led from the 1400m mark. Williams 2 other runners Latrobe & Twilight Payment were 6th and 7th. Southern France who came 3rd will be trained by Ciaron Maher.
  7. Rusty seriously, that dog and the ball and the lawnmower i was crying laughing at work......best post.
  8. Yes i was thinking that exactly today. Boths sides were evenly matched and id have England slightly ahead of us as we are far too dependent on a one or two players. Im not really sure Smith is the best batsman or Cummins the best bowler, but they certainly carried the weight for most of the time. They had players in and out of form from match to match and wicket to wicket. It was certainly a fascinating series and the battle against the old enemy is still the ultimate game. If only the West Indies could come good. New Zealand and Pakistan dont thrill me, but it will be quite watchable all the same. We need to go batsman shopping in the mean time. A draw was a fitting result.
  9. The Unit has gone, so thats it. Id like to thank everyone for a most enjoyable chat during the series, and a most enjoyable series. Must do lunch down the road at Sunbury soon, the birthplace of the Ashes. Come and get them England.
  10. The Schoolkid is a good bowler. A good find for England and only 21. What about those Spitfires. The sound of those Rolls Royce Merlin engines, its just unmistakable.
  11. Yep, lets hope so Macca. The teams on fire lately....lets roll !
  12. .....Charlemagne and The Unit have to be there at Lunch for us to have any chance.
  13. I think now watching how the wicket is starting to play, with variable bounce its gonna be hard. The top run chase at this ground is 260. The new bowler Curran was also very good and hes fresh. EDIT: 2/29
  14. Monkey Business: (in order of game times). Czech 1. 15. Sorry, very busy arvo.... Sunday Spesh: Well my pick is Australia 2nd innings Hi Bat S.Smith 2.00 , but its not up on Ladbrokes only Sportsbet, so i guess perhaps some cant get on.....? Thoughts? Czech 1. Liga Sunday 11pm Fastav Zlin v Sparta Prague Sparta Prague (Win) +1.5 Match score $2.20
  16. Lets be optimistic then. (we are used to it being Dees supporters)! Ok, if they get another 20-30 runs thats a chase of 400-410. They will occupy the crease max 1 hour. We get to stumps at say 5/240 that would leave 170 to get on the last day, with a wagging tail. It would then probably pan out pretty similar to the England run chase test 3. At least 2 batsman would have to stand up. We know who one is.....whos the other? I would normally not even contemplate a chase of that magnitude but England did it and just a few weeks ago.
  17. That actually might spark them? If we could break Englands record run chase to win, in the same series.....how good would that be? Especially since we havent exactly got the most formidable batting line up of all time. If the Ashes were there for the taking, id almost back us. Warner might be the key.....if he could get to 60 or 70, then ..perhaps game on. Our highest score so far is 8/497 in the last game and 7/487 in the first test, so its not completely beyond the realms of possibility. The wicket is looking pretty good.
  18. The Unit !!! Best catch in the series. Unbelievable. 4 catches. 2 wickets in 2 balls....... 8-305
  19. Cant understand why Buttler comes in after Bairstow? Hes in the side as a batsman and Bairstow is ok, but hes more a keeper than batsman. 2 quick wickets.....300 behind. The best we could hope for is 350 and thats a stretch. Still looking like 400+.
  20. Well now actually Indonesia is currently the the worlds third largest emitter of greenhouse gases behind China and the United States because of the illegal burning of forests to clear land for cultivation. They have some of the most biologically diverse forests in the world ranking third behind Brazil and the Congo. Forests represented 84% of their total land area in 1900. This has been reduced to around 100m hectares since that time. So thats 41% of their forests removed. I dont think we have removed 40% of our trees have we? But yes its complicated because of the economics of survival and its the same in Brazil and Ecuador. So until we come up with a viable solution.....the lungs of our planet will continue to die. Storm were unlucky i thought in the end, but Canberra came to play. Its a hard road now via the Roosters, but if they can do it a flag awaits. Has Paine actually ever got a review right? Its rather incredible. Yes we need 3 wickets this session min.....and there was one. Guess we just have to be satisfied with the Ashes, they dont seem too fussed.
  21. Not sure Macca. If they bat all day, they win. WE need a collapse and on this wicket, thats an ask. Im not at all confident in our batting line up apart from the bloke at 4, but even he has his limits. Does he have to save our butt in every game? I went through Warners figures in the last series in England. 17, 52, 38, 83, 2, 77, 0, 64, 85. So its definitely between his ears i rekon. This coming innings is a real chance for him to stand up. Its not like the wicket is falling apart. I think anything more than 260 is probably a bridge too far. What i dont know is why? Now if were playing for the Ashes in the last innings........
  22. Yep one of Richmond, Collingwood, Cats or Great Waste of Space will be Premiers......this season cannot end quick enough.
  23. I still dont understand why players get dragged after kicking a goal....
  24. I wish we had a baby alien giraffe !!
