CASEY: Elimination Final vs Williamstown
Culley needs to tie his hair back. Seemed to distracted him having to push it back all the time. Having said that he dwarfed the Willy mids. Very strong and he was tagged in the mid. Played well today. Seems to have more confidence since he played in the AFL with us. He definetly has potential to improve and play regular AFL footy.

Jake Melksham & Tom McDonald Sign On For 2026
Geat stuff to keep these guys for another year. We are transitioning youth into the team so we need to keep some experience to show the way. The game and player management has changed for the better. Salaries are an incentive to keep players playing. The drafts are so compromised that some clubs have to keep players playing longer. The Maggies have shown in recent years how older very talanted experienced players keep the team on the straight and narrow. - although those players are not far from dropping off so they will just keep milking free agency and pay unders for good players, eg Houston.

Christian Petracca and Clayton Oliver in 2026
The Hawks have the Blues 1st rounder from a trade last year. I wonder if they start offering that plus??around?

GAMEDAY: Rd 24 vs Collingwood
Wow, great q. Now to hold on. First half very unclean with the ball but endeavor was good. Third q ball use cleaned up a lot and we were rewarded.

Who Will Be Our Next Coach?
Just like Ross Lyon has mellowed and coaches differently to his previous stints no doubt Buckley will as well. These guys are smart and adapt to whatever is thrown at them just as the players do. One thing is for sure we have a far better list than the Saints did when Ross took over and our list is still way better. We need a natural KPF who can find space ala BBB and a plan for the eventual retirement of the irreplaceable Gawny. Maysy is 33 and not long left. Lever will be 30 next year so a few up his sleeve. TMc is 33 next year. But we have Turner and Howes developing and Petty can go back. Mids covered with Windsor, Langford and Lindsay coming through. Kolt as a forward/mid. Kosi a gun mid/Fwd and Prasad as a small quick fwd in the 2026 draft. So far its all media talk about Buckley. No real substance to it coming from the club, is there??

Thank You Simon Goodwin by Demonland
Thanks Goody, I loved the 2021 premiership you steered the club to. They are hard as hell to win and you got us to climb the unclimbable mountain.

Time to go Goody?
All the [censored] media over the past few years probably permeated its way down to the footy department. The BOD may see offloading Goody a way of distancing himself from the recent past?? Certainly Goody cannot be blamed for the playing list bad luck. Brayshaw retirement Jackson to Feo and players with the traded draft picks not yet coming up. ANB leaving BB retirement Tracc and Oliver issues May and Lever ordinary seasons via injury Stars getting older.

Time to go Goody?
I doubt an interim president and CEO would sack the coach. We have quietly had our list decimated in terms of 'guns' and likely not Goodwins fault. Brayshaw - gun ,early retirement, Jackson - pinched from us when still a 'kid'. Replacements with draft picks combines not performing to his level. One of his strengths was power forward. ANB - very good player. Family reasons. replacement has been injured. BB - The exact type of player we need forward now. Unfortunately Petty cannot create separation of the lead like BB and is better suited back. Issues with Tracc and Oliver probably will not see them back to best until 2026. No guarantee though. This season we have seen issues with May and Lever missing games and below top form. McVEE - Not a gun yet but a lot of time injured effecting his performance - same as Windsor.

Time to go Goody?
Will the Board blame Goody for Tracc and Clarry issues? They may not get back to their best until 2026? Who is to blame for the Brayshaw early retirement? Gun half back and mid. Will the Board blame Goody for the loss of Luke Jackson? He is that big ruck forward we need.

Joe Daniher
I think we may have to break in the front door. Since BB retired no fast leading big target.

Time to go Goody?
I do not think an interim president and CEO would sack the coach. We have not had a series of massive defeats. There does not seem to be a disconnect between the coach and players which is symptomatic of huge defeats. We just have to hope that today's defeat does not knock the stuffing out of the team. Stopped to a walk in the last q. Why, leadership fell away? Like most i am still in shock.

POSTGAME: Rd 20 vs St. Kilda
Is it ok to be in shock right now??
-
Time to go Goody?
With an Interim president and a CEO to commence later there will be no move on Goddy. There would have to be an obvious disconnect between the coaches and players for a move to be considered - no evidence of this. Will not happen.

PREGAME: Rd 20 vs St. Kilda
I think its fair for Jeffo to go back to the VFL after an ordinary game which young players have. At least he knows what he has to do over the preseason. Who knows he may get another game this season.

May to Tribunal
For health and legal reasons the AFL may now have no option but to introduce a no defence rule. Start off with 3 weeks and work up from there. Unfair, now yes but after a while risky bumps will become less common.
-
May to Tribunal
Likely appealed and if upheld the AFL may have to clarify via rule change. Eg, first to the ball has right of way or no front on tackles or bumps. The problem is the AFL have to seen to do something about head injuries and front on bumps even if contesting the ball could cause concussion. The other option is a 'no defense' rule. Accident or not minimum 3 weeks and work up from there. That would be easier for the AFL. Unfair for some , yes but eventually it will reduce player risk taking. Or just leave it and hope it does not happen very often.
