  1. From memory, don't we have six spot and two rookie spots to fill? Certainly there is enough room to take him as a player capable of immediate impact (c.f. Lucas Cook or Jai Sheehan)!
  2. If we don't get Wines, let us hope that it is Grundy; somebody with a body that enables them to have on-filed presence straight away!
  3. What is Stiller from Brisbane like (currently training with us from Brisbane Lions)? What is he capable of adding to the mix that we are in short supply of?
  4. Can anybody give an insight on Cheynee Stiller (delisted Brisbane Lion) who is currently training with us and should we pick him up before 13 November deadline as a delisted player. Is he likely to be better value as one of the eight places on our list (4 main list, two rookies) or should we squander that valuable No. 88 pick that West Coast gave us for Cale Morton on a kid?
  5. Does anybody know something about Stiller? Is he exactly what we need to complement our list (or are we better grabbing a youngster with the pick 88 that we got for Cale Morton)? I presume that we can grab him as a delisted player without the draft if we so wish under this new system; should he be one of our eight selections?
  6. Well picked about Gawn and Spencer honing their ruck skills in the VFL with Hogan and Fitzpatrick as key forwards, however it would be good to see the Scorpions doing better than minor premiers or runners-up as i am sick of seeing them get bundled out of the finals so esily in straight sets!
  7. I agree about Fitzpatrick. At 202cm and 100kg I cannot see why he isn't the potential power-forward of the comp. Let Pederson stay in the backline to cover Rivers' former role and provide back-up to Watts, Frawley, Garland and McDonald.
  8. Just a minor rethink! I am uncertain about the on-ballers and medium size-players. With the key position players we have such a dearth that it will become obvious after the NAB Cup who to play and also whether Sellars has a role next year. Backline: J.MacDonald, Frawley, T. McDonald Half-Backline: Garland, Pederson/Sellars, Watts Centreline: Grimes, Byrnes, Trengrove Half-Forwardline: Howe, Dawe, Silvia Forwardline: Blease, Fitzpatrick / Dawe, Davey Followers: Jamar / Gawn, Jones / McKenzie, Viney Interchange: Spencer, Strauss / Nicholson, Tapscott Sub: Dunn Emergencies: D. Barry, Bail, Wines
  9. I like the way that you are thinking here however I feel that CHF should be filled by Pederson or Sellars rather than have him clogging up the forward line. I would prefer to see Jack Watts on the HBF or back in his old position on the forward line where you placed Pederson. Clark and Dawe should be able to provide enough hardness on the forward line and we need some 'magic' that Jurrah or Aussie used to produce.
  10. Unlike most, I like the hardness of Joel MacDonald in the backline and I also feel either Pederson or Sellars has to cover for the loss of Rivers (who would of been in my top 22). I also feel that we have to have a contingency plan between Jamar, Spencer and Gawn so that we play two ruckmen each week. Also we should be grooming Fitzpatrick to step in for either Clark or Dawe should they be injured. Backline: J.McDonald, Frawley, T. Macdonald Half-Backline: Garland, Pederson/Sellars, Watts Centreline: Grimes, Byrnes, Trengrove Half-Forwardline: Howe, Fitzpatrick / Dawe, Silvia Forwardline: Blease, Clark, Davey Followers: Jamar / Gawn, Jones / McKenzie, Viney Interchange: Spencer, Strauss / Nicholson, Dunn, Tapscott Emergencies: D. Barry, Bail, Wines
  11. by the look of the posting time, this site needs to update its clock to account for DST.
  12. Which year did we tank; was it 2009 or was it this year? Looking at Melbourne’s performance under both Bailey and Neeld, who both tried to get the best outcome for Melbourne using the players at their disposal, let’s analyse the relative results (leaving out the Suns and Giants who were not there in 2009). Games won: 2009 (Bailey) =4 / 2012 (Neeld) = 1 (Essendon by a goal) Games where we were leading at the final siren: 2009 (Bailey) = 5 / 2012 (Neeld) = 1 Backmen played out of position: 2009 (Bailey) = Frawley (for a few games) / 2012 (Neeld) = Rivers & Garland (for most of the season) Forwards played up back: 2009 (Bailey) = Nil? / 2012 (Neeld) = Watts (for most of the season) Experiments with team list: 2009 (Bailey) = Yes / 2012 (Neeld) = Yes Obviously looking at the above, why isn’t Caro accusing us of ‘tanking’ this year? Neeld, playing the same opposition Clubs that Melbourne faced in 2009 under Bailey, won only a solitary match. In other words, Bailey’s performance was superior to that of Neeld by a factor of four times!

  14. AGREE WITH MOST OF WHAT HAS BEEN SAID ABOVE BUT i SUSPECT THAT PEDERSON'S ROLE WILL END UP DOWN BACK FILLING THE HOLD VACATED BY RIVERS. WE NEED PEDERSON AND SELLARS BOTH AS SPECIALIST BACKMEN TO TAKE ON THE BIG FORWARDS OF THE OTHER CLUBS (ASSISTED BY FRAWLEY AND WATTS)
  15. Rivers was our biggest loss and I liked Moloney (despite this year). I don't know why we didn't persevere with Martin either? My hope is that we can get 202cm, 100kg Fitzpatrick really fired up as a third tall and somehow retrain Pederson and Sellars to fill the gap left by Rivers (though having Watts as a key backman gives me some confidence)!
  16. I cannot believe that all the dailies are reporting the 'alleged' tanking of the Dees (who just were following the 'Masters of the Game', Carlton) yet the Club website is pretending that it is 'business as usual' and no need to respond to MFC members. Talk about 'Nero fiddling while Rome burns'! How about a few wise words Mr Connolly!
  17. What is wrong with Grundy? Surely another 202cm and 100kg big man could not hurt. I don't think we need another midfielder but a young key position/ruck would not go astray (especially when he is touted as the 'best big man in the draft)!
