Why the hate for Oscar McDonald? Firstly, The kid has played 2 AFL games and is now only in his second season. Secondly, key talls take a while to fully develop. Don't count him out just yet, I thought showed some good signs at the end of last year.

Who will captain in place of Jones?

Just rewatched the Round 23 game against GWS and to put it simply, Christian Salem is a class above. This guy will be a serious player for us and I can't wait to see him take the next step this year. Reminds a bit of Adem Yze (a seriously unmentioned player on this forum) with his kicking skills and ability to play all over the ground. If he plays 20 odd games this year, he'll give the Bluey a serious shake.

Would be very surprised if he's named against Port. However as you said, I'd expect to see him play half a game at some point during the NAB Challenge.

Nothing to worry about at the moment. It's rare players sign an extension a year or two before their current contract expires unless they are certain the club is on the right path. Considering our on field performance over the last decade, I can understand the hesitance to sign a long term contract when it's uncertain where we'll be in terms of our on field performance this time in a couple years.
