Still in disbelief in what a shambles this all turned into. I think I would've preferred it if he had just gone out and said "I don't want to play for Melbourne anymore" at the end of the year rather than "retiring". Watch out for incoming "feel good footy stories"

Was disappointed to see Brayshaw not named but I now know why thanks to the Herald Sun "No.3 draft pick Angus Brayshaw was left out after signing a contract extension this week." Must be knackered after doing that. Good to see the club aren't going easy on the first year players in terms of training.

Was a underrated coach in my opinion. The big losses we endured overshadowed the big wins we had at the G. The win against Sydney in 2010 is certainly a highlight. Thoughts go out to his family and friends.

Won't be able to watch the game on Saturday through the stream. Will a replay be viewable on the club website afterwards?

Would be a big statement to leave Grimes out for round 1, one which I would fully encourage. Surely he can't take his spot for granted anymore especially since he's no longer captain.

First match back, not a bad effort. Sounds like VandenBerg has put himself in round 1 contention.

Hope Kent has a big year. Quite possibly the most exciting player on our list. That goal against the bombers last year still gives me goosebumps.

Score is 6 to 19. Goals to Newton, Dawes and N.Jones. This is good.
