PODCAST: Rd 22 vs Carlton
@george_on_the_outer Thanks team. I agree it’s not just one reason for our poor conversion rate. Much lower than other teams. Lack of a big string marking forward. Poor delivery into the 50. Poor connection. Goalkicking accuracy. Going inside our forward 50, I think we definitely do kick to the pockets more and it is definitely a different tactic to other sides. I’m sure the discussion will continue whether it’s effective or not.

Jake Lever - You've done it again!
Jake’s kick?? Intent or a miskick. Hmmm. Not sure. Got a lucky bounce to keep the game alive. Jayden Hunts run and kick was the key to get it to the square. That’s the gold !!!

PODCAST: Rd 22 vs Carlton
@binman @Demonland Thanks to you for the podcast. Great listening. Query. I heard the podcast but the answer to my Q1 doesn’t make sense. Binman said about “less turnovers and Kozzzzy chasing down Rich and causing turnovers”. And “less likely to turnover the footy when it’s 70 metres out”. It sounded like the answer to Question 2 re the kick out of May to outside the 50. (Ps. Stats show Cats, Lions& Swans have highest score rates from inbound kick outs). Question 1 was our “Kicking into our forward 50 into the forward pockets” and the lack of scoring. We lead in forward 50 entries but have one of the lowest conversion rates. We are easy to defend in the pocket. Hunt’s final kick v blues showed how dangerous it is when you kick to the hotspot, 10 metres out , top of the square !! Happy to hear more of this strange “pocket “ offensive strategy. It’s like we want to cause a ball up or out of bounds.

Multi-Call of Kozzy's Match Winner!
I agree. Talk about Lever’s kick. It was Hunt that created the chance. His run and explode to burst and kick long to the top of the square !!!! Hallelujah. That’s the key. It created the chance. It created the pressure. of course Kozzzzzy 😘😘😘😘😘

Multi-Call of Kozzy's Match Winner!
Confirmed. Montagna had always bagged the Dees. Has a giant chip on his shoulder against the Dees. He’s shattered. FFS.

PODCAST: Rd 22 vs Carlton
Two questions 1. What’s the tactic of kicking to the forward pockets rather than the central hotspot in front of goal ?…. It’s such a negative “defensive” play and easily stopped (Perhaps explains why we have 50-60 inside 50s yet goal scoring rate of 18-20%) 2. 90% of the time , Steven May kicks out to 60 metres out , to the pack on the half back flank!!! So predictable. Question - WHY? …… -( it’s very boring and other sides push numbers and punch it back. - How do other sides vary it , like the Swans who brought to ball to their inside 50 on 5/8 occasions without a Magpie touching it!!! )

CHANGES: Rd 23 vs Brisbane
I think it’s in Harmes … to tag Neale (simply have to tag him to stop the Lions) out Sparrow (to the medi sub) Sparrow looks lost between roles. A half forward or a mid. We lost several Centre square clearances with him in the middle. BBB - stays in as Weid not capable and Tmcd injured. JVR not ready to step up ANB - apparently plays his role but offensively not contributing up to standard. Lucky Sparrow is in line for the medi sub Spargo - had another poor game. 9 goals for the year as a permanent forward. Some goal assists but not really contributing in crumbing or getting to the footy. Twice was physically pushed aside and led to Carlton easily running the ball out of defence. Hard to see him staying in but another coach’s favourite. If Chandler was fit and ready to go, I’d swap Charlie out.

Angus Brayshaw Re-Signs Until 2028
Another very good game from Gus. Excellent reading of the play and is very composed under pressure. Just needs to tidy up some of his disposal which let him down. 55% disposal efficiency. 12 turnovers.

The Run Home
Massive massive game this week Win and we probably play Sydney (either at SCG or if we get enough percentage then at the MCG) Loss and we probably drop to 6th and would play at the MCG v Richmond. It’s crunch time. Finals have already begun. This is like a double chance round playing Lions at the Gabba (which sick bastard gave us this draw) Simply though we have ourselves to blame. As this is the cost of the two losses to the Dogs and the Pies … both games that we should have won.

CASEY: Rd 21 vs Carlton
Ditto. I think Howes will be a very good addition with another pre season

THE LAST TIME THEY MET
Gawn IN Gardiner, Zorko and Bailey IN big difference is the venue. Lions are a 5-6 goal better team with the feral crowd at their side … and the umps also !! Lions smashed the Blues so this will undoubtedly be a tough game for the Dees.

CASEY: Rd 21 vs Carlton
Hadn’t heard anything about Bedford and Chandler having covid and being in isolation. Has that been written or confirmed? It does appear the most likely reason given they’ve been key players at Casey this year, and not listed in the weekly injury discussion. Any reference or source?

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - KYSAIAH KROPINYERI PICKETT
We love Kozzzzy. 👏👏👏 Amazing goal to win the game in the last 12 seconds v Blues.

POSTMATCH: Rd 22 vs Carlton
Love it. First. Yes boring boring slow and predictable from May. Blues setup as we are SO predictable. Second. Yes a second rate defender Lewis Young on Bbb was actually starting to bully him about. 12 intercept possessions. Really !!! BBB got the last quarter goal but otherwise he was a “gimp” to a 2nd rate defender. Worrying signs.

My 3 word player analysis V Carlton
Fritsch played well.!! . No. No. No 4 disposals. 1 goal 1 kick (both from the down the field free kick on 1/2time). 3 handballs (I think two to Carlton players) 8 tackles but that’s because he was always second or behind or trying to chase. I love Fritta and he always will be a star. But he was off tonight.

CHANGES: Rd 23 vs Brisbane
Hunt out?? Wtf. Only bloke who runs and runs and kicks properly into fwd50
-
CHANGES: Rd 23 vs Brisbane
Outs. - kicking bombs to the forwards - slow and wide ball movement - endless useless handballs that are easily intercepted Ins - use the corridor more - BBB taking a contested mark. (Not always going one handed) - Quick play on style footy
-
CHANGES: Rd 23 vs Brisbane
ANB, Sparrow, Brown, Spargo all liabilities. ins. Harmes and Chandler outs. Any TWO of ANB or Sparrow or Spargo Fritsch has to do better. it’s BEN Brown or JVR … so Brown stays in only as JVR is still so young.

GAMEDAY: Rd 22 vs Carlton

Why no KPF wants to come to the MFC?
Memo to Goodwin- for god sake, find a key forward that can mark. 💩Weid 🤡Brown are not the answer. And Mids who can setup a kick to a forward!!!
