Match Preview and Team Selection - Round 19
Ted Lasso replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
These are the sorts of games where one of our big forwards needs to stand up and clunk a few, Matt Maguire is a good defender but Gardiner and McStay are just kids, Watts, Frawley, Pederson and Dawes should be too much for kids if we move the ball pretty well. it's all workrate, they should be more than capable of working a lot harder than first year players -
I have it on good authority that Cale Morton is still a dud.
-
Wouldn't mind him sitting on a half forward flank, he's still playing pretty well in the reserves and his experience and cultural influence would be worth it alone. 1 year deal as a playing development coach want to see a bloke who would rival Daniel cross for how hard he trains, Ryno is a seriously hard worker

Players to target at the end of the year
Ted Lasso replied to JackVineyForPresident's topic in Melbourne Demons
It's hard to judge, he really hasn't adjusted to AFL level just yet but I think there is a strong case for saying he really hasn't had the opportunity to. he is very good at reserves level when he goes back, really in a very similar point in his career to Toumpas -

Mckenzie to Hanley as he is their most damaging player Cross to Rockliff Jetta to Green Jamar will need to play well or Martin will take him to the cleaners -
Tommlinson is more established, and I think ready to take the next step
-
if they are paying Tom Mitchell 400k a year then they have seriously managed their finances well.
-
Would our second rounder be enough to land Tommlinson if he did request a trade?

Mate I am not confident we will even be able to score 39 points -
Wow if he ends up at the swans the AFL community could riot

Players to target at the end of the year
Ted Lasso replied to JackVineyForPresident's topic in Melbourne Demons
there possibly are, luckily people with far more knowledge than ether of us on this subject will make the decision, but from having seem Jono play multiple times in person I can tell you he has a fantastic work rate, wins his own ball, has good skills, and is a pretty handy overall player, I am very confident that like Jimmy Toumpas there is a lot more to him than what we have seen so far. -
Where did the little rat say that? Surely they wouldn't have that sort of money laying around unless Goodes retires.

He showed some flashes of his talent, but ultimately only played a few games due to injury, my point is it wasn't like he came in and won the rising star, people were shocked we rated him as high as we did, turns out those people had little idea, O'Rourke might well be the same, highly talented player, injury interrupted first couple of years, Victorian boy wouldn't cost a top 5 pick and could represent great value for money during trade week. the original comment from JVFP is that we shouldn't offer more than a second rounder, my comment is that other teams will offer far more than that, the Bulldogs are one I know are interested -

Dom Tyson had shown nothing more when we grabbed him, how's he going now? we're talking about a former pick 2 and I am certain clubs will be lining up to land him. -

I know the swans seconds comp isn't great but he is consistently getting above 30 touches, had 35 touches a few tackles and a goal on the weekend, the pace thing is a real worry, i'd expect him to play as a medium forward and provide leadership, an upgrade on what Byrnes and Rodan were offering -
Bombers scandal: charged, <redacted> and <infracted>

I find it hard to believe that ASADA could be painted as the big bad wolf out to get them like it has, I have a lot of family who support Essendon and they all say ASADA has nothing and it's all just smokescreens ASADA will make sure the proof is very public and the sporting world knows exactly how bad the actions of Essendon have been imo -
I can't believe the negativity, 131 games and 2 premierships is a good career, I suspects Shannons impact on the Dees goes far beyond the on field stuff, I'm sure he has added to our culture, added leadership to the group and provided a good role model for some of our young players.

Just juniors for tigers dazzle, nothing worth bragging about haha
-
I have 4 ovens and murry premiership medals, does that count
-
131 games premiership player Thanks for your contribution Shannon!

Finish the year with 6. Wins and at least another 6 we have been in front in the last quarter is a massive improvement and a great platform, I personally think we could beat west coast as well

could use pick 2 to draft Petracca pick 3 trade to the suns for 9, 15 trade pick 9 for Jono O'Rourke trade pick 15 & 21 for Tom Mitchell & Nick Malceski GIves us a good mix of experience, depth and top end talent -

Acute appendicitis Is what it was listed at, I assume that means it ruptured, although he was out of hospital fairly quickly so who knows, maybe just wanted to take the time -

I'd say O'keefe is a fair chance, he is still playing good footy, knows the swans culture we're aiming for -
I still think he is a vital cog in our side, especially with Roosy openly saying he wants the defence to be 90% of the focus having said that I have also heard that rumour so it's getting around a fair bit, and I know some Geelong supporters who reckon they are really confident they will get him but tbh they are d-heads. 600k per year over 4 secures his future and secures our compo so really it's a win-win if he has made the decision to leave
