Mate if he's going to be petty with immature yeah-nahs he can G&GF

I'm pretty sure it was a time trial that was delayed because they were sore
-
It's worse that clubs can't trade on draft day
-
Grow up you loser taking credit for something you didn't even find

Never said it wasn't, actually if you look at Melbourne you will notice we are lacking a small forward which further discredits your dismissal of Kennedy because he's small
-
It ridiculous how many people here seem to make comments on players they haven't seen and pass judgement purely on their body type.
-
You only receive compensation if you lose more players than you gain. For instance Collingwood could lose Cloke and then sign Bate as a Free Agent and wouldn't be rewarded with any compensation
-
Clearly you don't know what's going on Father Son bidding occurs before trade period, which is the period where GWS deals out it mini draft selections, meaning we can't simply dispose of our number 3 before the Father Son process
-
They wouldn't be playing for the Dees on the weekend, but they would be training and developing their bodies throughout the year: thus fast tracking their development.

Pretty average bloke off the field

Yes clearances are important but the difference between the clearances the top teams get compared to say a Melbourne clearance is that they use handballs to get it to outside leg speed rather than a quick kick out of congestion. On top of that Melbourne already has Jones, Gysberts, Trengove, Mckenzie, Magner as ball winners yet they normally just slam it on the boot rather than giving it to somebody running by. Also the main source of scoring these days are from turnovers rather than clearances. Which is through fitness and leg speed enabling the extra link up man for the one over the top, something North does extremely well juxtaposed by Melbourne who only ever seem to go long down the line to a contest.
-
You can't just ignore players because they are skinny, in fact the player you praise Toumpas is slightly built but I also agree would be a good get at 4, but if you think he's a big bullocker you're being mislead
-
Yeah valid point, O'Meara was clearly a rare talent, would have gone 1 or 2, and he was traded for pick 4. I wouldn't say any of this year's mini draft players are at his standard nor are certainties to be good things thus making me reluctant to give up 3 or 4 unless it guaranteed Viney went 2nd round
-
He's is too top heavy, can barely waddle around the footy field
-
Watch the kid play before comparing him to Cale, he is very balanced and has a huge aerobic capacity. The modern day game is changing and the ability to spread hard into space is something the Dees haven't done all year. Have a look at Hawks and North play they have lots of leg speed and good ball users and thats how they cut you up rather than long balls 1 on 1 contests. The Demons desperately need talented outside players with leg speed who can use it well and they wouldn't find any better than Kelly
-
Josh Kelly is a jet I would prefer him over Martin, outsider who can get his own ball, runs all day and uses it extremely well. Is very skinny but plays a lot like Stephen Hill has that pace that we desperately need

According to afl.com.au A player has served eight or more seasons of AFL football at one club, is one of the top 25 per cent highest-paid players at his club, and is now out of contract for the first time since reaching eight seasons of service. (restricted free agent) The player is eligible to field offers from all rival AFL clubs. If he wishes to change clubs, the player must decide on the best offer of his choice from one rival club. His club has the right to match the presented offer. If the club matches the offer, he may choose to remain with his original club, seek a trade or enter the Draft. If the club does not or can not match the offer, the player can move to the new club of his choice. His original club will receive a compensation pick for the loss of the player, on an AFL-determined formula to apply where clubs lose more free agents than they gain in any single transfer period.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - JACK VINEY
King Kunta replied to einstein251's topic in Melbourne Demons
Get a life if you think that by having eight thousand posts somehow your opinion is more valid than mine. Have a look at this guys mock draft, obviously watches a lot more under age football than you do http://www.bigfooty.com/forum/threads/knightmares-2012-mock-draft.956129/ Has him rated only behind Daniher, O'meara and Whitfield, of which we can only take one, basically saying he is the second best available selection. Jog on you loser -
Why?
-
Like the idea but would be a tough sell, the international students I went to school and go to University with, aren't passionate about anything to do with the Australian culture.
-
Ahh yes you're right assuming GC or GWS don't nominate Viney. He has trimmed down while at Port because he definitely had a bigger body at under 18 level compared to now not sure why. But I certainly believe he has the talent and dedication to play a similar role to Andrew Carrazzo certainly in relation to his ability to attract the ball and good clearance player. Pre-debut Now

Ben Jacobs looks like he will be returning to Melbourne this year and the Dees should well and truly have a look. He was a highly rated youngster (first round pick) coming out of Brighton Grammar yet was only utilised in defence by Port and as such has failed to make impact expected of a high selection, which part in due was also due to glandular last year. He's a ball magnet (had over 40 touches in an under 18 championship game), who's strong overhead with a strong penetrating kick and would be best used as a midfielder go forward. Although he may not have showed a heap at AFL level I still think he has the potential to be a good to very good player. With his stocks being reasonably low and the fact he desperately wants to return home I don't think a heap would have to be given up, perhaps a 3rd rounder and an exchange of second rounders
