  1. Umm you said some players may be lazy or idiots is that not speculation? Anyway I'd rather not deal in fanciful conversation rather things I have witnessed which is, based on footballing performance the top 6-7 are very even. My point is that AFL's best players weren't all selected in the top 4 you surely understand this? I have backed it up with Melbourne as a point in case but you still can't seem to understand that having another pick in the first round will increase your odds have drafting a very good player.
  2. Your argument lacks credibility, you can't merely speculate without evidence or even rumours that players are lazy or are idiots. Even so Dane Swan was determined to be too lazy to take in the first round and Jack Darling was thought to be an idiot look how well they're going. Ultimately it boils down to their footballing ability which is what I'm judging on. Obviously Greene is not the only successful player to be taken after the first 4 picks so not sure why you're getting caught up on this point. Our three best payers Jones, Grimes and Clark were taken at 12, 14 and 9 respectively so of course I would love another pick around a bouts there. Yeah an opinion which is based on watching under 18 carnival and talking to mates who played against these guys; so I'm certainly more informed than you who from your inane posts knows little to nothing about any of these players.
  3. You have said a lot without actually answering my statement that there is minimal drop off in talent from 3&4 to 5&6. Then have thereafter reenforced my point that you can get players of Greene's talent later in the first round...so not a great post on your behalf I'll break it down for you. Well obviously recruiters have boards with an order but I am stipulating that in this draft there is not much separating players 1 through 6, which is why you would take a 2 place drop for another pick in the first round. Unfortunately drafting in accordance to "suitability" is what landed us Lucas Cook you must always pick the best choice available when you are this high in the draft. In Tony's proposition we would still have picks 5, 6, 12 and 13 which would still give us enough firepower to get Hogan, pick 6 would get it done. This is giving credence to my argument, Greene was picked up at pick 11 illustrating you can still draft quality players outside the first 4 picks in the draft... Well actually you can assume Whitfield will go number 1 or 2 in the draft and Toumpas in my mind will turn out to be no better players than Wines, Macrae or O'Rourke.
  4. Seeing as you must watch a lot of Under 18's as Greene was your choice last year, could you inform me of the massive bridge between players picked at 3 & 4 compared to 5 & 6 assuming Whitfield and Toumpas go 1 & 2.
  5. Well I don't think there is much separating the crop so I wouldn't mind having second go at it in return for another first round pick. Although we haven't had much luck of recent times with first rounders it doesn't mean they carry no value. Last year I know the Demons were keen on Toby Greene with our first rounder if we couldn't get a trade for Clark (ended being take a pick 11) so there is quality to be had and the recruiting staff may have improved under Neeld with more definitive qualities to be targeted.
  6. No way I think a drop of two positions for an extra pick in the top 15 is win for us. This draft's top 6-7 is very even and I believe all will be stars: I would be very happy to take two of Whitfield, Toumpas, Grundy, Macrae, O'Rourke, Wines or Mayes. As Fat Tony pointed out, Whitfield and Toumpas are destined to go 1 & 2 and Grundy is at a position we have in excess. If we slide down to 5 and 6 the drop in quality would not be excessive and the extra pick could allow us a player from the second tier such as a Kennedy, Garlett or Stringer who would all walk into our team.
  7. Good synopsis, I would love to have these two at the Dees both extremely hard at the footy and as Sydney showed you can never have too many inside midfielders especially if they are capable of going forward. Wines straight up reminds me of Martin strong tackler, yearns for the contest but is also capable over head. The only reason why he probably won't go top 3 is because he lacks leg speed but the same was said about Selwood, Black, Mitchell especially as he has good endurance (recorded 14.4 beep test). Recent Grand Finals have all been tight contested battles where the team who has the better contested mids will reign supreme. At the moment Jonesy is the only midfielder who wouldn't be out of place we still need another 2 or 3, Viney and Wines would be a good start.
  8. Although I like both players in question pick 4 is certainly too high, in addition to the high pick it was reported we would have to offer substantially larger contracts to the pair. So we're not only trading, but also paying them, as if they're stars.
  9. Or Andrew Gaff, Dale Thomas, Stephen Hill, Sean Atley? Outside leg speed with hurt factor that are vital in teams ability to run and carry. But yeah you can ignorantly put him in the skinny fit bust category. Obviously you don't watch a heap of junior football
  10. http://www.afl.com.au/news/newsarticle/tabid/208/newsid/149205/default.aspx Still seems there is speculation as to whether Kelly or Hogan will be the second mini draft selection. Josh has performed well at the combine so far; just set the second fastest 3km time ever recorded (9:48) whilst also placing in top 5 for repeated sprints. I'll be happy with either not so sure some others on this board would be.
  11. Yeah as has been said, he played the second half of the season to limited success. Although he is relatively competent over head, he just lacks any quick sideways movement so isn't dangerous as a small forward. Love his hunger and intensity he just needs to gain some pace and agility if he is to be part of this side moving forward

Rams defence was straight up nasty today, 9 sacks and many more shots on Kolb. Felt sorry for the guy back there Quinn looks an absolute star of the future hopeful the offence can find a way to move the football without Amendola as they were pretty ugly today.
  13. Have heard Caddy to the Blues for pick 11 and Ellard seems a lot to give up, hope Melbourne don't try and outbid it

Although I don't think we are playoff bound, due to offensive inefficiencies, if we are to keep the dream alive we must defeat Arizona this week which based on last weeks form is achievable. If Long and Quinn, our defensive ends, can get to Kolb early he will revert back to his scared old self looking over his shoulder rather than down the field.

Bears defence looked nasty and even the whiner managed to throw the ball well. NFC North is shaping up to be a great contest with seemingly 3 quality teams and 1 with the ability to be one. It has worked out well, from a viewer's point, that NFC West and North teams all play each other as there are 8 quality sides which have already given us some tough smash mouth games, although hopefully the Rams can fair a little better against the two other NFC north sides. I'm guessing the wildcards will go to probably Cards (Niners win division) and Bears (Packers win division) but it will be close as all teams have difficult schedules.
  18. Paying for contracts brings up a valid option that could be utilised by our front office as we have cash and Collingwood don't, especially if they want to pick up Tippet. In the Dawes trade (which I broke a month ago get around me) we could pay part of Martin's contract and in return we get another draft pick I.e. their late second rounder which would save them cap room and frees up one more spot on their list for their Free Agents

Rams special teams getting the job done, punter throws a TD and Greg "The leg" kicks a 58 and 60 yard field goal. Vikings continue their good form and now are the form team in the NFC North.

Also read Goodell was able to reach a deal with the referees union and they will be back in action tomorrow.
  21. Essendon will have an abundance of quality tall forwards; Daniher, Crameri and Hurley. There is no room for Gumbleton in that team I think he is a reasonable player, after Clark was injured we had Rivers, Garland and Sellar as our forward targets Gumby is far superior to any of those kicked 4 goals against Hawthorn in a drubbing which is a fair effort.
  22. Yeah I have heard that they are trying to get rid off Davey and his contract as his body is shot.
  23. I would love him at the club; an All Australian, premiership player and only 25 years old yes please. Not only this but he is a leader and a great person who would have a positive influence on the group The Collingwood head recruiter told my mate a story of how he got drafted by Collngwood. He had been overlooked in the national draft by all 16 clubs, not to be deterred Harry called all 16 clubs pleading for a chance to train with them and show he was deserving of a spot on their rookie list. The recruiter initially declined but after 4 or 5 more calls from O'Brien he said he could have a training spot but said he didn't guarantee anything. For the week or so of training O'Brien was the first one to each session and had to be asked to leave the gym at the end of the day. Collingwood obviously impressed, picked him up in the rookie draft only seconds later he received a call from Harry saying how thankful he was ensuring they wouldn't regret the decision. Supposedly it was the first time a player had ever called them first after being drafted. He is a proven winner, something MFC is devoid of and clearly nothing to scoff at.

Got the rough end of the stick there Macca hopefully it doesn't come back later to bite you. Not only did Tate not have possession of the ball (until he wrestled it away) he seemed to clearly extend his arms and push out the defender before he went up for it, a penalty they have been calling all week! Packers defence looked pretty tight all game, the offensive line got beat down think they had 8 or 9 sacks on A Rod and he was under pressure for the majority of time I was watching.
