Interesting to consider that after delisting JKH, Stretch and Maynard our midfield depth is quite thin.

POSTGAME: MS02 vs Hawthorn
great football weather for all our practice matches and our first round is Sunday afternoon in WA in the heat .... typical MFC luck

Rd 01: Weideman vs Jackson
I'd play Weid in Perth. More out of hope than anything else but we will need luck to win there anyway and perhaps he will be the beneficiary of that luck. Also I don't' want to see Gawn flattened by a run in the WA heat as our real chance is against GWS the following week. Jackson has already shown that he is a great pickup but quite rightly he needs to be managed. Like many I have watched Weid for years now and increasingly there seems a chance he may not make it. It's all before him but with Brown and Jackson not to mention Preuss he could struggle

TEAMS: MS02 vs Hawthorn
Hawks at relatively full strength (injuries aside) Strange... a couple of years ago players were rested/rotated you name it during this part of the season. Seems to be a change in approach these days.

Coronavirus & Other Sports
Agree Hardtack about the numbers. Was on another forum where an epidemiologist made the following valid point: ( he was talking about Italy) everyone should keep in mind that the number isn't increasing because the virus is spreading fast. The number is increasing because more people are being tested and THE DISEASE WAS ALREADY PRESENT in the population. Expect countries like the US who only test persons with symptoms to have an explosion in numbers. Thousands have it already, but since their symptoms aren't bad, they just let it slide. The only way to confirm the disease is spreading fast is to have good random sample testing of people over a period of time. That's not what's happening...

Agree Vietnam banned Italians from their short term visa exemption yesterday. How it will impact their fist GP due in April is interesting

Coronavirus & Other Sports
there's something a little strange about the absence of entry restrictions on Italians with the upcoming GP This almost sounds Donaldish Still in Australia for now, the Guardian’s Katherine Murphy has asked Scott Morrison to elaborate on the travel travel ban regarding South Korea. Part of the reason, Morrison responded, was the number of travellers arriving in Australia from South Korea. “The volume of travellers coming out of the Republic of Korea was more than five times what it is out of Italy,” he said. It “may well be possible within a matter of days or weeks to be able to ensure that we can deal with that,” he said, but for now the travel ban was “the way to go”.

PREGAME: MS02 vs Hawthorn
Ernest.... we have never done that post 64 even in the years we made the GF. Perhaps this year might be different (especially as they have moved your old mate the Generalissimo out of his resting place)

Kade Kolodjashnij on Battling Concussion
needs to be some serious thought given to salary cap relief plus AFL level financial compensation. This is a league issue that should quite properly be borne by the whole of the league. To do otherwise invites inconsistency.

PREGAME: MS02 vs Hawthorn
Most of the 22 pick themselves but here are a few of interest. Weid v Mitch Brown (should be Weid but he needs to pull up the proverbial socks) ANB v Spargo... who knows AVB v??? (remains to be seen if form will continue. Before the sustained run of injuries his form in 2017or whenever he played regularly last was up and down) Petty... is there a spot for him Jones...will he keep his spot

Sounds like a few MFC games I have been to

PREGAME: MS02 vs Hawthorn
Weid deserves at least a half game up forward to see if he can justify selection for round 1. The game in the ruck against the Crows was good exercise but was not great for his selection chances. If Brown could relief ruck then Weid would be in trouble.

Watching Rd 1
You can buy an android or apple TV box for a couple of hundred dollars. Using the inbuilt apps on the TV's is not that great as they are often the last to be updated. The boxes however such as nvidia shield are constantly udpated. They are so easy to use and are the ultimate definition of plug and play

Flew through KLIA2 a few days ago.... very quiet Will probably cancel my trip to Italy and Greece next month. Not worried about the virus per se but the possibility of travel restrictions and the closure of tourist spots makes it not the best time to travel. Managed to pick up a bad cold on my last few days in India.... People sure look at you differently. Have now stocked up and will self isolate !! Plenty of toilet paper

The cash actually goes to the hosting team. In this case St Kilda. Will be interesting to see if Saints receive compensation. Loss of the million plus they get for playing in China would put a big hole in their revenue budget

But will there be enough toilet paper?

Premierships & Spoons Won in Leap Years
did not know that.............. Revised Julian calendar The Revised Julian calendar adds an extra day to February in years that are multiples of four, except for years that are multiples of 100 that do not leave a remainder of 200 or 600 when divided by 900. This rule agrees with the rule for the Gregorian calendar until 2799. The first year that dates in the Revised Julian calendar will not agree with those in the Gregorian calendar will be 2800, because it will be a leap year in the Gregorian calendar but not in the Revised Julian calendar. This rule gives an average year length of 365.242222 days. This is a very good approximation to the mean tropical year, but because the vernal equinox year is slightly longer, the Revised Julian calendar for the time being does not do as good a job as the Gregorian calendar at keeping the vernal equinox on or close to March 21.

POSTGAME: PM02 vs Kangaroos
The set shot goal kicking... would like to think it's an aberration but it happens too often. A game day poster said there was no wind(mind you I could not tell on the Delhi to Amritsar express). Would like to think that every kick is analyzed and that players are walked through it again. Especially those considered to have a degree of difficulty of less than 50%. Not sure what if anything can be done about the kicks from within play but all in all there was probably 5-6 goals missing from that score. Great to hear that Spargo and the other players had a good game. Mitch Brown surprises me. Weideman has a real competitor it seems.

Wonder if the Saints will get their million plus ??

Jayden Hunt
Agree but he can break lines and the zone. The coaches need to do the rest or he is gone. The obvious solution is to have a player running to space on the 70 metre line where Hunt can kick into. Think Heath Shaw... the rest of the team know what he will do from his runs and position accordingly. Does this work in the modern game.... not sure but as I said if he can't do that his use is limited
