  1. Jetta out... I know his form has not been great but I hadn't seen him on the injured list Hore as an emergency is strange Tim Smith... injured again... surely that is the end Great to see JKH getting a game
  2. Point taken however I would like to think that his ranking this year reflects our terrible form rather than his underlying ability.
  3. A few clubs might be thinking they can fix his disposal and in that case he becomes a valuable "rebounding defender". In these days that's a rather important player. MFCSS just keeps on reminding me that we never seem to get these re-signings right from a value proposition basis. Jeff Garlett on his last contract renewal comes to mind among others. Makes decisions like that we are said to be making on the Nathan Jones contract all the more important.
  4. At the start of the year he would have been regarded as around 18-28 in the rankings. I suspect he has now moved to the 14-18 bracket. We seem to be having this problem with a few players not necessarily having linear development.. ie Brayshaw and Tom Mac. Nice problem to have IF they continue on the upward cycle. With improvement in his disposal Frost has the ability to get to the 10-14 bracket.
  5. that's definitely worth thinking about
  6. Frost.... another outlier for the salary cap spreadsheet. Thankfully it should not be too much. The interesting one is the term. I like two but he might be angling for 3 with a raise.
  7. There is a process for medically based retirements. It requires the approval of the AFL. The advantage is that the pay out is treated favourably under the salary cap. Sydney may try to run this angle with Buddy's retirement which could cloud the waters for other applicants this year.
  8. you could be right. Many lauded this deal for the Swans but it has been lineball. Could have been a lot worse I suppose. Most justify it by saying that he brought in members. Will be interesting to see where the Swans go ladder wise over the next few years.
  9. and you can add Stretch and Tim Smith onto the injury prone list. It really does have an impact on team stability when you have 5 players on the injury cusp
  10. Re KK our contracts thread shows KK signed until the end of 2021. Must admit this surprised me when I looked it up a few weeks ago as I thought we had offered him a one year deal. With both him and AVB on the perennial injury list we start somewhat behind the proverbial eight ball.
  11. riddle me this Pyke to Melbourne as Football director and Goodwin to Adelaide as an assistant. Each gets paid 1.5M over three years thus cutting down both pay outs by roughly the same sum. Would you be willing to pay that amount. (It's most probably less than what we would pay if we sacked Goodwin at the bye or end of season next year.)
  12. Those drums are beating loudly. Goodwin is lucky that the season is nearly at an end and at which time MFC will sink into its usual obscurity.
  13. Have to wonder who leaked the story... If the deal has incentives it's fair based on this year's form. In a way he's lucky that there is little coming through the VFL to replace him. If he plays ten games he'll probably make around $350k. Make no mistake this offer and the way we treated James Mac are chalk and cheese
  14. Preuss has had many similar games at VFL level. The game against Essendon was a prime example. Again in that game Essendon were missing their tall timber. He needs a big change in game style to succeed at AFL level. As a tap ruckman taking the occasional mark around the ground he's ok... (probably as good as half the others playing at AFL level) but that is not the role he needs to fill at AFL level. I'm coming to realise as many have already said that he is merely insurance if Max goes down. That being said I have no problem experimenting with him over the next 4/5 games given the absence of Weideman, Tom Mac and Tim Smith's lack of impact.
  15. I like where this thread is going... it's almost existential in its title. Parallel universes are the big thing in Sci Fi literature not to mention the Man in the High Castle. Just need to know how to cross over into those other worlds.
  16. Go Suns !!!
  17. looks like you are right... where's all that dew when one needs it
  18. you can get that fitness by having him run 10k each day. He has to develop another string to his bow and that is what Supermercado has quite rightly raised
  19. Preuss' game at VFL level was typical of his VFL performances this year... simply monstered a junior opposing ruck That being said I agree may as well play him in front of Smith. If we do play him I would like to see him used predominately as a stay at home forward running to a pre-determined pattern. Richmond will run off him but you never know we may be able to snag a few goals to keep them honest.
  20. Impressive but you forgot the horned buffalo tactics of the great Shaka Zulu
  21. Hinkley is also in the firing line as is Lyon Perhaps Six coaches sacked/moving on in one season... amazing
  22. come on Saty... Sandringham had no recognised ruck Many of his kicks were from grabbing the ball out of the ruck They are objective statements
  23. Sauntner v Newton and there were others Sandy appointed the coach and selected the players... we walked away because they didn't deliver
  24. just some perspective.... how many of those were grabbing the ball from the ruck It's a good tactic sometimes but it can be very erratic. The hit outs were rarely to advantage but that more reflected the absence of Casey mids. He didn't have a specialist ruck as an opponent
  25. that last 5 minutes summarised our gameplan Lock it in our forward line for how many ball ups and they enter once and score Rinse and repeat
