  1. the first "peppering" reference
  2. Fascinating commentary... "Let's not confuse coincidence with causation" Cerebral by comparison to BT
  3. a bird's eye view with this camera angle not bad for giving an overall view of play
  4. Would not mind seeing Woewodin playing the small forward role today for a half or so to see how he goes. Similarly play Laurie on the HBF for a while. IMO fringe players are wise to develop in say two positions to maximise their chances of a senior game. I wonder where we will see Joel S play today? Is he the Lever understudy or the secret weapon forward ?
  5. I stand corrected
  6. see the outs in the quoted post above
  7. Interesting weekend from a ladder movement perspective. Several teams playing another close to them on the ladder. Carlton beating Brisbane is probably in our interest if you subscribe to the theory that Brisbane will win most of their home games. Swans beating Pies makes it just that little easier for us to secure a top two spot by season's end. GWS win over Dogs keeps the Dogs around the bottom of the top 8. Essendon v Port... probably a Bombers win is best for us Freo to lose of course Geelong v Adelaide... a draw would be nice Saints to win and continue with a ?
  8. Poita's post mentions Harmes and TMac as injured..........who knows
  9. No TMac for Casey? Makes sense.. they are very tall .. perhaps a rest is a good idea
  10. the sell a game caper will be in full swing again. Where and who will pay is merely a matter of money Regional NSW/Queensland is my guess Regional Victoria has gorged itself on the Empire Games. Not really a strong regional WA and SA will be gathering O wait there's Shanghai and Vegas !!!
  11. as I understand it he did something like that but at the time Collingwood had to give up a lot to get him back after the first year. It was mentioned in passing by Leigh Matthews on 3aw last week but unfortunately he didn't have time to tell the whole story. About 4 years back there were a number of good picks out of SA and the Adelaide clubs tried to warn interstate teams from drafting them with comments like they will be returning. They were rapped over the knuckles by the AFL and I can't recall how it finally ended. PS Here's the Buckley story... he had a one year exit clause with the Bears to the club of his choice. Apparently he could have stayed with the SANFL and still ended up at Collingwood the next year I think so he had great bargaining power: https://www.collingwoodfc.com.au/news/727895/how-bucks-went-from-a-bear-to-a-magpie
  12. I'd love to hear an open and frank discussion on the Bulldogs' handballing of 2016 and how much of it was planned delivery and how much luck. It was obviously a team play but they took unsighted and unusual handballing to a new level.
  13. I know that a player is not allowed to say anymore that he won't play for X club lest it be considered draft tampering but I wonder how many hints are given by parents, managers friends of friends etc. Would it be considered draft tampering for a player to say for example ... yes you may draft me but at the first opportunity I will try to return to XYZ State. If this was said publicly it would be a courageous decision to draft that player even for three years
  14. was reading that today.. How can you justify a billion dollar stadium on 7 games a year? The politics of playing in the two cities is obvious but this is quickly becoming a taxpayer funded monster
  15. Early in the season still and as one who was on the fence at the start of the season, Chandler could be just the spark we need to take us well into September. An average of two goals per week (presently at 1.9 average) sees him as a top shelf contributor. One thing I would like to see is how often he is on the ground at the same time as Kozzie. Going forward with Chandler, Kozzie and Spargo in the team is interesting from a setup viewpoint. Each bring valuable and different skills to the team system. One other thing that was absent in the past perhaps (Watts springs to mind) is that players honour the leads he makes
  16. some here seem to be adopting a "devil may care" attitude towards this issue of national significance
  17. Casey game is on the Gold Coast as well I think Sorry.. already posted Could be a good night on the town for all !!
  18. No The Tasmanian taxpayer is bankrolling this team. Tassie didn't get a great deal compared to GWS and GCS At least they were spared a licence fee of $4M approx that Adelaide and others paid
  19. Will they follow the GWS or the GCS drafting model is the big question IMO GWS system is better but takes longer GCS offers a better look from day one
  20. what went wrong out of interest? Seemed a reasonable idea... Personally I think it's time to stop using permanent parkland for car parking...... park and ride is the way
  21. Agree Assuming that the win/loss ratio is good post bye I'd like to see him coming back as the sub for a couple of games with the idea of sharing half a game with another player.. say Hibberd
  22. A study of history and how it is or is not recorded is a subject worth of almost compulsory study. Can't understand why the Alice Game is not a permanent fixture for the Pastor Doug Nicholl's round
  23. worth running the numbers
  24. Amazing that a 19th team is admitted without realistic discussion of the bye. So 18 byes over 18 weeks followed by 19 teams having a second bye stretched over four weeks. In all probability the four weeks will be mid season but the ladder will be nonsense until around round 15. Of course the fans will scream for a 20th team. Compromised drafts for six years I'm liking relegation of the wooden spooner instead
