  1. Have only seen a very small sample of footage of Winder but can't say I was impressed at all
  2. Bailey Laurie looks like a clone of Charlie Spargo - not saying either are bad players but boy they move and look the same IMO
  3. The Nik Cox highlights are pretty damn impressive if you ask me Very skinny but seems to have great mobility and able to kick well off both sides The only thing I find scary is that he looks a bit like a taller more skilled Cale Morton ?
  4. Let’s see how things go next year I think they will finish top 4 and have another chance - I wish I could say that about us lots of improvement and consistency required for that to happen good that you have a different view tho
  5. I thought Bedford had potential to be a good small forward or even wing at a stretch but he hasn’t really been given much opportunity- doesn’t seem to get enough possessions so that’s something he will need to improve on
  6. Hope for Harleys sake and his family things work out He thought he wanted an AFL career but as it turned out that didn’t seem to be the no1 priority I hope his priorities are in the right order - hopefully if it’s not footy and family first then it’s family first and anything else a distant second
  7. Very disappointing hopefully things turn positive for him soon
  8. Cats got Smith - he obviously saw a better opportunity to win another flag there than MFC - thats ok lets hope he is wrong Weid will have to earn his spot - CHF options include Petty and Jackson both are also capable Melksham has to earn his spot - arguable he did that every week this season Agree wing is a weakness atm Agree there is talent and potential - it doesn't guarantee success This team needs to work cohesively on a consistent basis and they need to be well coached and be able to shift gears when required IMO a number of teams will improve next year based on recruiting/trading - the challenge doesn't get any easier
  9. Fair enough Don't forget that whilst they have effectively bailed from this years draft - it is widely considered weaker than next year - the kids this year have limited exposed form so makes judgement of picks more difficult and - they have added two extra second round picks for next year so they can top up on youth then I too think they have overpaid for Cameron and we have stolen BBB in comparison - they clearly are in a different space to us I wish we were thinking we were that close to success to be brave - will be interesting to watch it all play out
  10. Pretty ridiculous to rank anyone based on speculative picks in a National draft this year with a bunch of kids that didn't really play much footy so exposed form is limited Selling the farm to get early picks this year is a high risk strategy IMO Not saying that MFC didn't do ok - they targeted a need in Brown and got the job done for a very modest cost So far our other needs in speed , skill , excellent delivery inside 50 are still to be addressed I doubt these are going to be sorted by picking one of two kids from the draft - hopefully I'm wrong I do like the look of Macrae but suspect he will most likely go inside 15 so gone by the time our first pick rolls around
  11. Really ? I think Geelong have done really well They are in the mix for a real tilt at a flag and barring Richmond would most likely have won one this year They have quality all over the ground and have now topped up with a former leading goal kicker in Cameron, a quality wingman in Smith and a quality midfielder in Higgins. Two of these 3 haven't won a flag and would be desperate to do so before their time is up Add these to a list that is also very hungry for a flag, and a significant home ground advantage they will be top 4 again next year IMO Yes they have an aging list, yes they may hit a wall in 3 years time but are they closer to a flag in 2021 or 2022 than us - well I'd say they are Hopefully I'm wrong and they stink it up and we surprise everyone and start to work as a cohesive team and play consistent footy
  12. Do you think ? I don't think they care much about drafting kids. They have a different approach. Let other teams draft kids develop them up then take them off their hands when they need to fill specific needs - it results in a squad that is older , more seasoned and plays together for more games This strategy is not without risk but it seems to consistently get them thereabouts - time will tell if it delivers a flag but next year my money is still on them to finish top 4 - wish I could say the same about MFC
  13. personally don't rate him highly - seems about right
  14. My take on this is that Brisbane don't rate this draft pool or MFC getting better - hopefully wrong on both counts
  15. Agree - aim as high as possible - love to know who JT has in his sights
  16. Cute but picks can still be swapped after the 7.30pm deadline today until Dec 7 I believe
  17. Welcome BBB and good luck in red and blue Love to see someone try getting a premiership medallion over that mop of hair ?
  18. If TMac can get fit again and find some form he is a very good player - lets hope that he do that for everyone's sake Lets not forget that in any given week its probably unlikely that all of May, Petty, Weideman, BBB, LJ, Lever etc will all be fit and in form We do need to have back ups that are solid and TMac hopefully can fill that role (or better)
  19. I guess that means we will only be using picks 25 and 28 in the draft
  20. Sorry if a stupid question but does this mean there is likely to be less kids picked up each year than we have seen previously? if so would be good for the second tier comps but wonder whether it would slow there development as AFL ready players
