  1. I disagree. If I had a choice between beating the Bulldogs and losing to the the Crows or the other way round, I'd choose this result by a mile. I think it says more to to have beaten (all of the) premiership rivals before September, with a glitch against a bottom side rather than be worried by our rivals. Rather win every game though!
  2. Weed and Jacko worked well together last year, before Jacko was injured. This will be their first game together since then.
  3. Listening to the game with no vision reminded me of my childhood listening to Demon games on the radio back in the 70's when i was a kid. I know people still listen to games on the radio but it'd been a while for me. I enjoyed it. Meanwhile, we seem to have a few players who are able to fit straight in should injuries/form demand it. I'm thinking Mitch Brown, Jetta, Daw, Sparrow and more. It's shaping up as a great year ladies and gentlemen!
  4. YOU BEAUTY!!!!
  5. Step Up Sam. This is your chance. Create a headache for us in 2 weeks when Jacko is back and ready.
  6. I feel much more comfortable with Geelong getting to 4th place than Richmond, even though we've beaten both! Go Cats.
  7. I took the same username on Land and probably stopped posting on ology about 3 years ago, maybe more. A pity, there was some fun banter - including the non-footy stuff. Does anyone remember the thread started by Robbie F called "Are we in , or about into enter a recession?". It was started soon after the election of Rudd in 2007 or early 2008 but before everyone knew of the impending Global Financial Crisis. It was so passionate that 'ology had to split the boards between footy and non-footy after that.
  8. In 2015 he was being touted as a potential AA backmen. And even though he'd been back and forth between forward and back between 2015-17 he became a permanent forward after the injury to Jesse Hogan. Because he did so well there esp in 2018 he's stayed there. Now we're deficient in the backline. I think he can do it.
  9. being nominated yet, he's 3rd favourite
  10. He's such a stalwart of the team now it's easy to forget he remains eligible for the Rising Star. 13 players have received multiple nominations over 2 years, 3 of them were Demons and one of them played today. Without googling do you know who the previous Demons were?
  11. % is points for / points against x 100 In order to increase percentage we would need to win by a greater amount than our current %. Any other result will result in a decrease in % The longer the season goes on, though, the less impact an individual game will have on % though the principle remains the same.
  12. Not quite as good, but similar in a way to Farmer's Goal of the Century. Took possession in theback half and gave and received all the way until a goal was scored.
  13. Yeah, nobody at Melbourne wanted him to go, but his grandmother was ill and the club facilitated the trade for unders for considerate purposes. I went to a game in Perth back in 2014 and Jeff spoke at the pre-game function. As at that time, his grandmother was still alive and kicking!
  14. With Hogan starring for GWS today I was reminded of the long list of Fremantle Docker trade F Ups they've had over the years. They missed out or traded away players like Macleod and Hodge and they recently traded out Langdon to us, who looks like he'll make AA this year. Anyway, check out my Hogan/Neale/May graphic.
  15. There's both a good and a troubling story no matter the result. If Rich win, was it just an abbearation last week? If Dogs get up, then we have a competitor. A hard-fought injury and suspension ridden last quarter resulting in a draw is the result I'm going for.
  16. Yeah, I think they got a behind. It was tense.
  17. Get out of Harmes way! Goal within 20 seconds to start the 2nd Q
  18. Weideman will kick 8 goals and it won't mean anything, cos Nth VFL look [censored].
  19. On a radio interview after the game, Max said that Harmes would be available next week. Harmes might have to come back through the VFL. We have to find a way to get BBB into the side. The North Hobart oval has some weird winds happening, and North Melbourne play it well. It would seem that next week is a particularly good time to give BBB a game and see how he can fit in. I can't nominate anyone to be dropped though!
  20. Apart from BBB and Weids dominating as talls, Bedford was the story of the game. He really had a great 1st half. If he can perform the same again over a few weeks he'll get a call up. Assuming those first 2 mentioned end up in the 1s then Toby will be whom I'm watching Casey for.
  21. If we win by 5 goals, the lid won't just be off, it'll be thundering down the road in a gale.
  22. AFLCA votes from Sunday gave Maxy the chocolates and re-enforced why Macca is safe from the chop (ATM) even with Weids and BBB breathing down his neck. Maxy now heads the award with 32, with Mundy and Walker in equal second with 28. Votes from Sunday: Hawthorn vs Melbourne Votes Player (Club) 10 Max Gawn (MELB) 7 Christian Salem (MELB) 4 Tom McDonald (MELB) 3 Christian Petracca (MELB) 3 Clayton Oliver (MELB) 2 Jaeger O'Meara (HAW) 1 Jake Lever (MELB) Votes Player Club 32 Max Gawn MELB 28 David Mundy FRE 28 Taylor Walker ADEL 25 Jack Macrae WB 23 Dustin Martin RICH 23 Clayton Oliver MELB 21 Ollie Wines PORT 19 Toby Greene GWS 18 Travis Boak PORT 18 Marcus Bontempelli WB 18 Josh Dunkley WB 18 Rory Laird ADEL 18 Christian Petracca MELB 18 Christian Salem MELB 17 Jacob Hopper GWS 17 Zach Merrett ESS 17 Tom Mitchell HAW 17 Samuel Walsh CARL 16 Oscar Allen WCE 16 Darcy Moore COLL
  23. McDonald will need to have a blinder today to keep his spot.
  24. Down to just two undefeated sides!
  25. “May I have a word with you?” the coach said to his star player. “I’ve heard something on the grapeviney and I’m sorry to tell you your place in the team is gawn. You were spotted late at night hanging out at McDonalds with a hore …” “it was Hungry Jacks on Smith Street” the player corrected “It was late at night, I was feeling fritschey. What was I supposed to do? Just lever there?” “I told you to keep out of harmes way. Don’t cry me rivers now. You’ve got no brownie points left” the coach fumed. “Are you talking about the incident in the spa(r)? Go look at the footage, there’s no way you could picket was me. You’re being petty. This is just like Salem Witch Hunt” Then there was silence, like all those years ago in Wembley when David Bowey began to pray - Shaw that the audience was so quiet too that not even a sparrow could be heard. The player began to neale. “Bullen [censored]” said the coach “Absolute bullen [censored]. You’re not even religious” With that the player got up and walked out the daw never to be seen again.
