Poor Caroline her pets are a spent force, as is this presumptuous load of bollocks

why would he leave a Club who he loves for another when he could easily become the number one Ruck if Max decides this is his final year..

    He " loves" the Dee's?

I hope they find a way for him to stay  but I will be interested to hear about this love and ( I assume) respect if MFC turfs him out.

Mind you he's all class so we might have to read between the lines

I think what annoys people is that Hardwick quit mid-season citing burnout, only to bob up not long afterwards with a seven year deal, presumably for big money, at an AFL expansion club.

What should annoy people is that if it was a done deal then it was the way they dumped Dew that was disgraceful.

Hardwick quit early enough for the Tigers to get organised fir their big rebuild

He’s having nearly games.  Nearly kicked that goal. Nearly got that huge mark. Nearly got that chase down.  It will only take a quick reset to change into a special game.

    3 mindset things

1- crumb the pack at pace  - front and centre - or at the back (the side is nowhere) 🔥🔥🔥

    2- burn them off (don’t stop) 🚀🚀🚀

3- those hangers - count to 3 then jump ✈️✈️✈️(it’ll stop the “way too early” syndrome)

What you're saying is that he doesn't play smart enough

Hibbo needs to retire after winning one more flag, Melk looks like he could go for 2 more

Melk is hardly more unreliable than most of the 22 and remains one player who understands  that kicks can go high to a pack or low and penetrating towards a target which is a good plan if you are passing it through contested space.

I'm surprised few others seem to have noticed

I heard us being linked to Max Holmes yesterday.  Apparently he is keen to leave sleepy hollow.  Geelong in full re-build mode may be interested in parting with him but at a price I would imagine

A bit tough on Melksham but that is the group think around here.

You're correct about BBB and TMac though

I'm going to say it is 50% coincidence (Pickett's lowest-rated games this season have been against Hawthorn, Richmond and St Kilda) and 50% that the best teams have tighter defensive systems and work hard to get back, reducing the opportunities for small forwards.

Obviously small forward is a very tough gig come finals time, but they can turn games with barely a touch.

Charlie Cameron had just five disposals in Brisbane's semi-final win over us last season but his three goals probably made the difference in the game because he frequently put our defensive structure out of place.

Anyway, Pickett has had some pockets of poor form and a few games where he has been almost invisible, but he's doing alright for current form with 11 goals and 7 goals assists in his previous 6 games.

He's also continuing to bring a ton of pressure, including midfielder-level tackle counts.

(Per game) He's behind only Fritsch for goals and behind only Petracca for goal assists, while this season every second disposal of Pickett's is a score involvement.

He's doing his job and doing it well.

Cameron ,Dusty and Toby only need three kicks to turn or complete a game.

  7. The run home's pretty simple

    Positions don't really matter much in a season of team equality and upsets;

We could mount a case for any two reaching  the G/F, but  more than ever the team fielding closest to best 22 or carrying  fewer  injuries will win.

In Melbourne's case of course the umpires are likely to be the difference .

I’d prefer him to stop trying for that and take the crumbs.

Arnt we all and, it appears, not the least Kossi himself .

He flies for pack marks even when he's not in contention to come soaring over the top,the result bring he isn't at the drop of the ball.

Sometimes it also seems he habitually plays for the contested ball capture, the weave, duck and dodge.....goal!! ..rather than the drop of the ball and running clear and delivering .

    Mitchell is a smart coach

But apparently he's coaching against the "3rd greatest MFC coach in history" who clearly has a cunning plan like the last one.

" Don't try until half time boys and they will relax, then we can run all over them"

I would hate to be a Hawthorn player today. This is the beginning of our run to the premiership. Today it all comes together Kossie 5, Trac 4, Oliver 42 possessions and 2 goals, Max 320 possessions and 6 goals! Heaven help the Hawks.

    GO DEES!

This is the laugh track ,right?

Surely you're joking?  Norm Smith is clearly the best coach - well in the conversation as best ever across Australian football, then Checker Hughes, then Goodwin.  Daniher and Northey are in the next echelon.

Putting Goodwin there is so delusional that no one should comment.

    So I wont

Must have been up country with reception problems unless in the hills.

I was not at G either Had intended to come from Qld but after shaky week last week after 7 weeks in Europe I decided at my age that I wouldn't risk my health. What a game!

Will try and get there this Sunday.  We need every fan to beat those Hawks.

Reckon Smithy Fritta and JVR plus cameos from Max and (Tmac in defence ) might do the job with Spargs back. I would give him a run on the ball also and get his elite disposal.

    Go Dees.

Spargo has good disposal and decision making  skill but it's nowhere near elite

    ffs

The way I see it, we still haven’t reached our full potential in those matches but have shown glimpses of those gears and what they can deliver. I’m confident we’ve got the fitness to use those gears come September this year.

My biggest fear is a wet September 😬

So it was the rain on Saturday that  meant they couldn't be bothered shifting into top gear for a game that would have established 2nd place with a modicum of security?

    That's weird imo

It’ll come down to selection for me, but if Grundy goes out I think we’re probably 80-20 chance. It’ll lower if he stays in. Max needs to go solo.

Swans, we’re probably 40-60. We lost our last game at the SCG to a last placed Collingwood in 2021. Plus it always seems to rain at the SCG.

If they had won yesterday they probably would lose to  the Hawks next week.

    Straight sets coming up again

    It's the AFL ' s fault
