The AFL needs all the allies it can muster to ensure the Demons are contained, forever. That's why he is paid by the AFL.

Close to the most juvenile and pathetic fantasy ever posted around here and that's against some strong opposition.

If you'd included the umpires in your conspiracy you'd be the clubhouse leader.

Mind you Barrett ,most of  the commentators, the game day callers  and the AFL are pretty ordinary ( at best).

    Thank goodness for Daisy Pearce

Again, would you retire if you were a chance to play in this team? Unless of course we are delisting and just eating the salary

I fully expect there would be difficult discussions involved, but both of them would likely based   carrying the last two years of injury forward into the longer term of their physical lives.

Both players will come back for the 5th,10th 20th Premiership reunions with their team mates

BBB looked the same last week in the second half, I think he's still building game day fitness.

BBB is playing bone on bone..so it's difficult either to play out a game or to build fitness .

Possibly he needs a chop out on the bench each quarter with Smith to be the alternative target to JVR

His kicking for goal is what he brings to the team

    "12 goal loss"?

I was wrong...how many of you left at 3/4   time?

But can't you read  ? I also said 12 points  which until Melksham ( and Jack   ) stepped up was pretty close to the mark

I still don't think they are top 4 and the flag is a nonsense.

Jared and Salo are  both underrated and I have never criticised Melksham.  ...about the only player who understands a low targeted pass as opposed to uneccessary looping handballs to the feet of someone running past or lazy sky balls in the general direction of someone who isn't actually " free" is just lack of nouse and professionalism

Read others  3/4   time posts again before you critique pre game guesswork....pal

I grew up with Ron Dicko and Bluey but never confused support with stupidity...PAL

Just took the ball out of the Big Os hands, a beast of a player is Viney. Try and pick the play of the last quarter either of Melksham goals Vineys goal but for mine it was Rivers play on the back line the little toe poke and run though and kick inside 50 was brilliant.

    Riv is "back". .!!!!

    way under rated as well.

I realise our key defenders may switch from player to player, but I would have thought May would start on Daniher with Petty taking Hipwood. It will be interesting to watch the defensive match-ups, particularly when Gunston is on the field at the same time as Daniher and Hipwood.

As anyone in Melbourne knows, it's been blowing a gale all day. I know the MCG is reasonably protected from the wind, but if this keeps up, it may be a very messy game.

AFL data ratings show Gawn has attended between 52-57% of CBAs over the last 4 weeks.  Grundy the balance (43-48%). I feel like we are trying to balance out the ruck time. Max was All Australian ruck who has now adjusting and reducing his ruck time to accommodate Grundy.  In 2021, his CBA was 80-88% with Jackson interchanging.

Max has peaked and is coming down , he's probably also aware of his knee issues.

That's all fair enough but he doesn't seem to learnt how to play "smarter" within his  new limits.

More time behind the ball, let Grundy run around

Do " pressure acts" also include running really fast at ball carriers who nonetheless know they will have time to dispose of the ball?

Obsession with stats is mostly succumbing to David Kings drivell which comes from the Australian obsession with trying to mirror American football, where " plays" are more constructed and thus open to statistical analysis.

Stats are also more informative in tennis because of the simple nature of the ( gadiatorial) competition

In our game they are more like mere pointers so experienced analysts get a hint at what to consider.

Most/ many times I wager they don't reveal as  much useful information as we like to imagine.

Kossi's possesion count in the grand final vs last week's is the perfect example of that.

Would he have got a stat for the block he laid in the g/ f that allowed Trac to kick his " Daicos  leg break" goal I  wonder?

Largely agree with this . Melksham kicked two great goals but that’s all, and history shows he is unlikely to repeat. At the end last week, Max was completely cooked, yet he and Grundy were on the field last night for a long time, filling in as the extra tall on forward line. And neither took a grab . Woewodin was just ok, but what is his role in the team? I think we must play Schache for a few games.  Let him ruck in the forward line, giving Max and Grundy to have shorter time on the ground and refresh . Josh is a lovely kick , if he gets a shot anywhere inside 50, he is likely to convert. And if not Josh, some other tall must play .

Is JVR " tall" in your estimation?

Good mark Good kick and competes

Saints have a two player bench.

If we don’t win this game it is time for some serious discussions at the club.

That was due some time ago.

I am surprised you didn't notice.

It's a collective problem. None of our mids have elite kicking skills. We are an exceptionally strong see ball get ball team. The game plan is to bomb long to an outnumbered forward line and hopefully scrounge a goal more often than the opposition. It's not a good system but one based on our skill set.

Yes its a team sport so I get that it's a collective problem but when the best players don't drag the team up if  required,  when they don't rectify their own  errors or don't " lead by example"  the "collective " standards are minimised without anyone noticing.
