  1. Did he say anything about winning? I fear the 'love' mantra is the club's 2025 buzzword that 'culture' was last year. I'm already tired of hearing it. Its being overplayed and pretty soon the 'love' talk will be ridiculed by fans and the media just as the 'culture' narrative was ridiculed last year. Time for football to do the talking.
  2. I didn't say they would. My point was I can't see Goodwin willingly trading any of them out. Can you?
  3. I was concerned with the Gawn, Lever and Viney contracts. In part because of their injury history albeit they make herculean efforts to play week in and week out. And the Gawn and Viney contracts looked hasty or a PR exercise as they were both still contracted. But their bodies have a 'used by date' and likely to be before 2027 and 2028. None of us want to see their latter years played at Casey. The alternatives are: to retire them early, persevere in the seniors or do a Hawthorn style fire sale of their champions (Hodge, Michell, Lewis) for peanuts and heartbreak for fans. They then traded Gunston (3 x Flags) and Tom Mitchell (Brownlow) while they had some trade currency. Can't see Goodwin do anything like that as he loves all players, especially Gawn, Viney and Oliver. He is not going to trade any of them and he is unlikely to trade Lever or Petracca. Nor do I want them traded; just saying some might have to be for the good of the club and growth of young players. Some people will highlight players can go on to their mid 30's etc but rarely so many in the same team at the same time. Even while in the premiership window we couldn't attract/keep players (eg ruckmen, mids) as they are down the line behind the above players and have to play at Casey. Attracting key players won't get any easier in 2, 3, 4 years time. Meanwhile, how many other players will leave for lack of opportunity... btw, I'm not suggesting Goodwin should go now. But our GM Football and or our new CEO need to ask some hard questions about list management over the coming years. Now that I think about it, it won't be the GM Football as he was party to all the contracts.
  4. Yes I did as I have with Fritsch. But one learns and I eventually accepted there wasn't a place for Watts' style in a our team. Which is why I find Fritsch so frustrating - he could contribute so much more to the team. Ironically, Fritsch is who we chose with the trade pick we got for Jack. I sincerely hope he doesn't suffer the same fate.
  5. I guess we can pull isolated stats all day long but one stat doesn't tell the full story. If he was involved more then perhaps others would kick the goals when he isn't. Yes, I was at the game. I saw him attempt to tackle or chase etc but my point was he lacked intent. As it was he had only 3 tackles. Not sure he acutally chased down anyone or even got close enough to lunge at them. I don't have the stats for the 1% things but to me looked half hearted. I'm not sure there is a lot of point bogging this thread down with a Fritsch discussion. I've made my points so will leave it at that.
  6. It is easy to be the top when there is no competition. In his career he has had two good years: 2021 and 2022 which were two years when we went deep into the finals. Given our i50's it isn't lack of opportunity for either goal scoring, goal assists or i50 pressure. He has a good goals cameo every now and then and that seems to be enough for him. I have been a fan but that is wearing thin especially as he did nothing last week, in his own milestone game. If he can't chase, tackle and play with intent in such a game, when the win was there for the taking, will he ever...🤷‍♀️ I hate to say it but he is becoming Jack Watts mark 11.
  7. Is something missing from the post ... ... or is this a new quiz 🤔
  8. iirc Graham was McLaughlin's preferred CEO when we appointed Pert. Has good AFL HQ experience and highly credentialled. Graham has been involved in the football industry for nearly two decades, contributing across a range of strategy, operational, and leadership roles, including Strategy Manager, Manager of Club Services, General Manager Strategy, CEO of NSW/ACT, AFL General Manager of Game Development, and General Manager of Tasmania Expansion. graham-claims-2024-graeme-samuel-scholarship Knowing one's way around AFL HQ is critical for a club CEO. tbh, would much prefer Graham to McCarthey who imv has a narrow experience base in many respects. Too much 'learning on the job' required.
  9. Both McStay and Daicos received 5 votes and the above assumes it was Daicos 5/0 and McStay 2/3 but could have been the opposite ie Coach 1. 5 McStay 4 Houston 3 Sidebottom 2 Daicos 1 Membrey Coach 2. 5 Houston 4 Sidebottom 3 Daicos 2 Rozee 1 Lipinski According to the stats (which I know aren't teh be all, end all), McStay had a phenomenal game so I can see the 5/0 scenario. It is anyone's guess which coach was McRae or Hinkley - I could make a case either way. It is also anyone's guess the mix for McStay and Daicos 5 votes. Coll fans are too blind to see any sort of common sense let alone be rational.
  10. Thanks. I hadn't seen it reported as a spider bite ... not that it would mean much to me. Necrosis and amputation is dead set scary - hope he looks after himself.
  11. Didn't Windsor miss a few weeks of preseason with a foot infection? Would welcome a medico giving some insight into why this would take so long to heal then come back again some weeks later. Hopefully it isn't like Oliver's infected foot in 2023 that just went on and on and landed him in hospital. Sheesh! Don't antibiotics work any more 🤷‍♀️ We need some luck on the injury front!!🙏
  12. We can only know the shape of the votes as per the opening post. As to which coach voted a certain way is a guess. In this case the shape of the votes is correct but the attributed votes to Kingsley/Goodwin could be the other way round with no favoritism or leniency. I notice the coaches gave the same votes to Greene (5) and Green(3) and both coaches gave votes to Callaghan and Trac. For mine that is a very similar view of the game.
  13. Something that cost us was not having someone on the goal line. They got 3-4 scappy goal as a result - at least 2 from Cogniglio could have been stopped had we had someone behind the pack.
  14. Yep, in the Grand Final... ... we will atone those losses.
  15. The 'Kids/Debs': Goals: 1 – Windsor 1 – Roo 1 – Sharp 2 – Jeffo 1 – Henderson 1 – AJ Lindsay: D: 22, T: 6, Eff: 81.2% Langford: Not on field for long. I said earlier in the week if we lost it wouldn't be for the kids/debs. In fact they kept us int he game. They did their job superbly.
  16. The club could lobby the AFL. The AFL give a leg up to the big Vic clubs in so may ways. Wouldn't hurt to help the smaller ones. On balance the gate takings would be higher as adults bringing the kids would pay and it would be better viewing on tv with more people/noise. Can't see a downside.
  17. Last year kids entered free for the WCE afternoon game. Great turnout on trains and atmosphere at the ground. I reckon kids should get in free for all MCG games vs i/state teams especially day games. Kids come with parents thereby increasing the adult numbers. And kids can make a lotta noise!
  18. No need to take one line and nit pick it. Read it in context of the rest of the post...
  19. Windsor maybe. JVR will be 22 in a few weeks. Remember that Pickett, Jackson, Bowey, Rivers, Petty, Sparrow, Spargo were all premiership players when between 18 and 21 years of age. I agree we have some youth tomorrow but I reckon that is a ok. If we lose it won't be because of the debs.
  20. Only Langford and Lindsay are 18/19. Jefferson is 21. The rest of the team have been in the VFL/AFL system for at least several years. Long enough to physically develop and perform a role albeit not expected to star. Just do the role and that is enough while the 3 true debutants learn.
  21. Yes, I'd rather give the newbies a go than play those not ready or tried before that you meniton. For mine the experience of Johnson, Henderson and Sharp to some extent balances out the inexperience of Langford, Linsay and Jefferson who will probably play limited minutes. I like that these guys a getting a go as we don't have a lot of depth in our injury list that can come in this year: McVee, Pickett, Tholstrop and maybe Melksham. So getting games into the debs is a good thing. We will need them to play during the year.
  22. I loath Ess soooooooooo much I don't care who beats them!
  23. Wizard, are you DD's Mum ... 😊
  24. You could give her a hug and tell her.😉 Failing that, Mother's Day will be here soon 😊
