Best post i have read since the start of the season. It has summed up our year so far with consistency of the worst kind. Everyone tries to deny what's going on here but it is rather plain on face looking stuff. We are actually prevented from starting well because what happens is the game flow is dictated to purposely to prevent us from doing so. Free kicks of one kind in the first qtr, like paying pushing in the back or holding the ball will change in the second qtr to throwing the ball and not holding marks, and so on and so on until the last qtr, where there will be no holding the ball at all and waiting until the opposition get out of congestion and kick to another of their players inside the fifty, or worse no review of anything until the painfully inevitable stage of a dubious free. I am at the stage in games with us that i wait for the free to them in the last minute or the rule of a free against us. By the way it is not only US this weekend. GWS in particular were given a raw deal in the last qtr by umps, and we know who they played.So too were Adelaide tonight and St Kilda.

How many games a week are there decisions made where the view of all the umpires is incidentally obstructed, or not picked up for one reason or another. I think in those circumstances the usual procedure is to call a stoppage. I'm thinking there should be instantaneous contact with co umpires in a box just as we do now for decisions regarding scoring and where these umpires with better views than those umpires on the ground observe infringement particularly on the periphery, and in the incident itself, notify the umpire (not sure which one) and award against the infringement. Hopefully this can be done seamlessly.

Even the Carlton player thought it was play on< i wonder why? It could be that prior to start of match Voss was briefed at what was going to be the emphasis.

Not every team that is down by 5|6 goals deserves to lose

Maybe our Club thinks that generating membership and consequent crowds is the way to minimise bias umpiring.

Any bloke that gets brought back to Australia for Brownlow night is protected alright.

Just one more thing.... Eddy Maguire interviewed the new appointed AFL Head of Umpires. An ex Umpire and police Officer. My father was a decorated Police Officer just to show no bias from me. But you cannot go around espousing to the Football Public what the "NEW" mantra of the umpiring fraternity three nights before a shambles. It was two words INTEGRITY and IMPARTIALITY, and he repeated it many times in the interview.

So much interference, holding and obstructing off the ball. Didn't seem to matter in the first 3 qtrs. Then in last qtr we got too close for comfort and Carlton would have slipped out of the Eight.

Really like these comments, especially relating to what a long draining season this will be.

Just a guess, that when half the AFL Board and half the TWSNBN Board know each other quite well, what should we expect.

Remember we will not get free kicks against Carlton no matter what. Like Brisbane, they siphon frees from the mere touch. One only had to look at the B's versus GC.

The commentators mentioned it a few times, and you could notice Pendlebury. Carlton get tackled, they throw the ball away quite deliberately as if its a signal to others. Ad in the Brisbane free kick staging and you have a lot to beat around the ball.

Yep, i reckon Billings is close and would have snagged at least two of those goals had he kicked straight.

Reactions, people hugging, as two field umpires were just standing still, not believing what they saw, and the last was the Goal umpire looking intently at the distance between the post and the ball saying to himself that was clearly a goal but should i call as touching the post and then the replay shows there was at a foot between the two, and i look like an [censored].

And i'll say this, but don't yell lit out. The bump.... made me very happy.

Great up close and personal summary DZ. The commentators knew we were "ON" Saturday night, and there was nothing they could do and say to change that serious expression on the faces. There was one especially pleasing acknowledgement that we were a genuine contender now. That's nice.

If you listened to the commentary after the game with Brereton, you would be forgiven for thinking that the whole Geelong Team were all "OFF" on the night.

Don't want to see 15 or 23 in maggot garb Sat Night.
